Professional job done, not the greatest performance, 3 point in the bag, we move on. Good to see MPH play well, some brilliant balls into the box - Cullen / Fulton should have at least made the keeper work. Bianchini seems to keep the oppo defence on their toes a bit more than Vip, but arguably BIanchini is the better "impact" player coming off the bench. Shame about Allen. |

Played very well last night with some great crosses from out wide, he clearly has something about him. Feels like before we scapegoat a young loanee in future, we ought to imagine being 22, moving jobs 200 miles away to work with a bunch of people we have never met, in a new office with new procedures etc. and expected to instantly shine. Football is a results game, I get that. But the above is the human reality of it. |

Yes I agree, but Bianchini's greater involvement probably is partly due to his experience and natural urges as a winger. As an aside, I like what I see of him - yes his finish was poor, but his movement to get clean through was excellent and not the first time he's done that. His impact per minute played is right up there. I agree with the rest of your post on Vipotnik, and I think to some extent we have to expect similarly frustrating and inconsistent performances from a lot of our players - a lot of the new, young and with barely 100 "senior" games amongst many of them. |

Interestingly for anyone who gives stats any credence, on the FotMob website there are only 3 Swans players who have made the FotMob Team of the Week this season: Ben Cabango (twice) Goncalo Franco ...and you guessed it.. Myles Peart-Harris! |

I know he gets a lot of flak at times (and I am not his biggest fan), but a big part of the problem with that first half is we needed a captain to rally the troops and set the standards for the rest of the team. The sight of Grimes mutely trudging back to the center circle as if nothing happened after the first goal really ground my gears. Firstly, he should have been furious with himself for making a half-arsed attempt to get back and cover Key's ineptitude. Secondly, he should have been b*llocking Key for his ineptitude and telling the team to focus. Can you imagine Roy Keane, Ash Williams or even Garry Monk putting up with that crap?? Seems the standards set are to play to 75% of your capability on an infuriatingly regular basis. |

In fairness to Peart-Harris, he is getting in good positions and he definitely can pick a pass. The rest of his game is currently C- but I think there is a player in there. Let's not forget his good performance at Watford - it can happen. |

Yep, hate to say it but we should have just applied some good old "balls down the channels" and let Leeds come to us from deep. Not lose possession on the half-way line trying to play cute passes, while our defensive line was 25 yards to high! I think if Williams was brave (or just creative) he should have brought Naughton and Christie on, hooked Ronald and MPH and pushed Tymon and Key up - they were pretty much playing as wing-backs / additional midfielders already. Think we could have won it then. |

I agree but then I also think his positional mis-management has destroyed any confidence he may have had. |

I don't think we can have it both ways with him though? For me he is never an impact sub as he doesn't have enough in his locker to create something out of nothing. I think he's got fitter and sharper and now getting involved more / scoring because he's getting a run of games and playing plenty of minutes. |

Seems a bizarre decision when we have Key, Naughton, Parker at a push to fill in at RB. Why not put whatever money we are paying Christie into contracts for our CBs...? |

Maybe he'll do a Jamie Vardy and be a late blossom! |
| Forum Reply | Cullen signs at 19:05 29 Oct 2024
I wasn't comparing players, I was merely pointing out that there may be an intangible benefit to retaining players who a) wear their heart on their sleeve and b) have some recall of what it was like being at the club when in the "good times". Absolutely do I wish I was saying this about a player of Routledge or Ashley Williams level but we are where we are and post Joe, Liam, and Cabango at a push any links to the "glorious past" are gone. But maybe revolution is what is needed and I'm just a sucker for sentiment! |
| Forum Reply | Cullen signs at 18:36 29 Oct 2024
I'll say this, as long as the new contract isn't insanely higher than his market worth, and the long term plan is for him to become a squad player and not leading the line, then in the same way I wasn't against keeping Routledge when past his beat, or resigning Joe, I am not against maintaining some Swansea "DNA". |
| Forum Reply | Reach & Christie at 14:08 24 Oct 2024
I think we need a creative midfielder first, before another striker. God love him, Cooper is a trier but just that - a solid, hard-working pro. Someone like Sigurdsson, Paterson, Celina, Jordi Gomez - someone who can make something out of nothing in the middle of the park is what we are desperately missing. |
| Forum Reply | U21's at 10:12 23 Oct 2024
But what is the point unless the system and instructions changes? You can chuck Wilson or Parker in as much as you want, if Grimes, Darling, Cabango and Tymon just continue to knock it around side to side taking 3 or 4 touches each time, then nothing will change. And Williams clearly is happy with this ponderous play - he is not bollocking them from the sidelines to move the ball quicker. He is saying we deserved a point in his post-match press. He is clearly content with how we play. |

Having watched the extended highlights back, I would say Peart-Harris looked better in a midfield role - he looks pretty good on the ball and tried to be positive at least. Abdulai did ok as well, lovely touch (after a good pass from Vip) to put Ronald in on goal for our best chance. |
