15 months and out in 6-7 on 20:50 - Jun 17 with 861 views | WanderR | 83 years of age and pleaded guilty to all charges. No point giving him 25 to life because he won't be around to serve it. This bit was interesting though; "Although I agree with the submission made by your counsel that some of these incidents taken alone do not cross the custody threshold, some of them do †either because of the age of the child concerned, or the nature of the indecent act and in the case of Counts 12, 13 and 14 because 3 children were involved. Further although individually a charge may not call for a custodial sentence the cumulative effect of your offending must be taken into account in determining whether a custodial sentence is called for." So if he had committed fewer crimes or only the less serious ones, then he might have not gone to prison at all. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

15 months and out in 6-7 on 16:03 - Jun 17 by daveB | by the looks of it he'll also face several civil cases for compensation which will more than likely bankrupt him so I don't think he is getting off lightly at all |
think i read somewhere he's already put his masion in his wifes name so it cant be touched and im sure all his moneys been hidden away over seas think they said max is two years but he's got 25% off for pleeding guilty so 18 months but why is it just 1 sentence why not 18 monthes for EACH CRIME to run one after the other lock the pedo away for good

15 months and out in 6-7 on 17:31 - Jun 17 by Juzzie | Absolutely. current health, age etc shouldn't matter. If crime warrants, say, a 5 year sentance, give them 5 years. If they die in prison then so be it. It'll be on on record forever they were given 5 years. 15 months becuase of ill health etc kind of diminsishes the seriousness I think. I started reading that PDF and stopped after the first accounts of what he did. Dirty fkker. |
If you had read on you would have read that the maximum for the offences was 2 years because you can only be sentenced at what the sentence was for those crimes at the time the offence was created, not what the sentence is now. It is also the law that if you plead guilty the sentence is reduced by an amount. His age and health had very little to do with the reduction from 24 months to 15 months.
15 months and out in 6-7 on 21:25 - Jun 17 with 816 views | derbyhoop | I can't nor won't argue with the distress to the victims but does it make any real difference to the way they would feel if he'd got 2 years (max sentence possible) rather than 15 months? What is an appropriate sentence for the crimes?

15 months and out in 6-7 on 21:29 - Jun 17 with 818 views | daveB | he was never going to get 25 years for those offences, i don't think you get that much for full sex with a minor so touching them was never going to be in the same league. Reading it i expected him to get more like 5 years but his life and legacy is ruined now which has to be some consolation to the victims and their families, not ideal obviously but i don't think much could have been done to make up for what happened to them

Having regard to the fact that your last offence was over 25 years ago I do not consider it is necessary to make a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for the protection of the public who will as a consequence of this case be well aware of your criminal activities. does that mean he doesnt even go on the sex offeners list?

No. It means that upon release he won't be barred from going within 100 yards of a school, going abroad or using a computer, etc.. Only 45 have been issued in the last seven years so it's not a common measure. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22519566

Well, this is the crux of the issue. I don't think anybody is upset with the judge if he's given his maximum sentence, we are upset with who the hell decides you only get 15 months for molesting numerous children as young as 9. I would assume a paedophile has made that guideline up. If he's too old for prison, horsewhip him and chop his fcking dick off the filthy old c@nt. Ps So what would happen if the judge said bollocks to that, i'm giving you 50 years? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

15 months and out in 6-7 on 15:50 - Jun 17 by baz_qpr | If you read the judgement the maximum they could have given was 2 years because that was the tariff for the offence at the time of committing it. The same offences now would be a 10 year tariff. The reduction to 15 months are because of the guilty plea and his age, so the Judge gave about as much as he could by law. The reality is though that this man got a way with Rape which they decided not to bring to court in the end. |
So by the logic of only being able to sentence people to the tariff available at the time of the offence would somebody who committed murder in the 50s whose crime is only uncovered recently be hanged?
