Yeah I'm stuck in the NW. Anyway, the game.

You know all these threads asking if we'll stay up? Well today proved we won't. It's over. Not a bad away point for sure (although if we can't beat a poor Wigan who can we beat?) but nothing in that performance to suggest we're going on any kind of run soon.

First five minutes we looked lively. Lots of attacking intent, if not much quality.

Then it went a bit dead, not many chances for either side. We looked utterly static in midfield. When we had possession nobody moved so we were always easy to second guess.

Taarabt had a decent first half though. Chasing things, making space for SWP (more on him later) and showing some good touches.

Then Wigan got a run of corners (with a free kick inbetween) that we couldn't deal with that ultimately ended up with them going ahead. A little bit harsh on us (and the support who were great I thought).

We got a goal back quickly from a corner but that was it from QPR for that half. No momentum from it at all. Green got tested a few times, their keeper had the rest of the half off.

Second half we started well again (again for just five minutes) but after that Wigan had us camped in our half. Luckily they had Fernando Torres' shooting boots on and Green started to make a few decent saves (one brilliant one from a one on one situation).

Tarbs came off despite being our one really promising attacking option (he had a booking but it still seemed a bit ridiculous) and Cisse came on, a proceeded to score (his one positive action from his time on the pitch).

They equalised right away thanks to our defence who were vulnerable all day to 1-2 passing and individual skill. After that it was mostly Wigan.

Bright spots:

Mackie. Up for it all day. Brave performance.
Green. He's always got a mistake in him but he was really good today.
Taarabt. He's showing some character and is a little less Tesco Value Ronaldo on the ball these days.

Shite spots:

SWP. He's toilet. He's just awful. All he can do is run into people. He's too little, not as skillful as he thinks and is thick as shit in footballing terms.

Granero. Yeah, we get it. You want to go. F**k off then.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

For my sins and business appointments etc to was the first match of the season for me.

Why are we to running? Motionless either forward or back........much akin to moving through treacle.

Their second was caused by one of ours not running back after being tackled, cisse threw a tarabt type tantrum, the ref had a bit of a stinker in his decisions and SWP? Christ he was bad.

Thought Harry could have brought Hoilett on for SWP to give us another option, Granero for a knacks red Derry could have also been a good shout.

However if you won't run back to defend its always going to be problematic.

Oh, and since when is it sensible to stand still and just not support an attack, leaving it for Mackie time and again?

It's going to be a long season methinks, and not winning today was probably the. Death knell to our season as I for one cannot see a win coming under these circumstances.

Cheers
Dave

granero looked good when he came on. put his foot on the ball and looked for the sensible pass, but had no movement from others!

Yes. We actually started to go forward again once he came on because neither Mbia or Diakite can pick out a decent pass. Great vision for the ball over the top to Cisse although he did give the ball away a couple of times, mainly due to lack of movement from his teamates.

You didn't mention Boswinga.

He even looked worse that SWP on the stream.

Fookme, Douglas Bader is on the bench, wheel him on for either of the twots

Did you have an obstructed view? He looked like he couldn't give an Obi-Mikel.

Couldn't wait to be subbed either.

I thought he looked lazy and inept. His shitty corner was Richard Langley-esque.

I want to love the guy, he was class before but he's dropped down to our level now.

Granero was decent when he came on, he actually tried to play football, too many of our players lack a footballing brain but Granero isn't one of them. I think we need a midfield 3 of Faurlin - Mbia/Diakite - Granero.

I thought we had about 15 signings that fit that category.

Spoilt for choice when it comes to lazy Rsoles.

I am concerned that I am starting to hate Bosingwa as much as SWP.

Phoning NHS Direct now for a consultation.

Yep. Bang on. I went. Thought Derry and Samba were pretty pap all game. The former couldn't get near the ball and was sat so deep in the second half, we should have given him gloves. The latter had an off day and disn't win a number if 50/50s he could have

Bluce, like your post.

SWP was dreadful. Arsenal 2nd half dreadful for the London away following. He's absolute sh*t. No end product and defensively today was bordering on a disgrace.

Boswinga is a c*nt. A lazy one.

Green did very well. Hill and Nelson were great.

We MASSIVELY miss Faurlin.

And no, Granero was a half arsed twunt when he came on. Ale pisses all over him inob ability, workfare and passion.

I don't believe it is possible to win a match with SWP in the team.

His pass to Cissé was the first intelligent decision I can remember him making all season. I suppose he had to make one intelligent decision simply by the law of averages.

When Wigan had the ball, the opposition players played as if he wasn't there, as they know he can't get the ball off them.

I noticed that other members of our team are becoming increasingly reluctant to pass to him - they know what's going to happen if they do.

It is simply terrible to watch him on the pitch, his every action haunted by the stench of predictable failure.

Agree with the opening paragraph. Derry was poor and is not the answer. So concerned about his pace he sits ridiculously deep. I also agree with your bosingwa assessment, he's not got the Passion for the fight. Swp was poor but not the reason we didn't win. Deserves a mention that it was his run and pass that made the goal. I agree he was poor overall however but did work. I Think you build Ale faurlin up too much. He's not the saviour. Good player but is coming back from a serious injury. First few games he played quite well, probably partly on adrenaline. Since spurs away he's been very poor, if his name wasn't Ale faurlin he would have been the victim of fans frustration. I think its a bit early to write Granero off as well.
