Or by those who take it so seriously that they believe it means they know a considerable amount about the game. While not letting anyone else know what their team is.

Oh yes. Especially when the "Don't you write about football, Chris?" followed by a wry grin, type comments spout forth.

Football Pet Hates on 09:31 - Sep 2 with 2615 views | dingdangblue | A red card for denying an obvious goalscoring attempt when a penalty is awarded - isnt a penalty an obvious goalscoring attempt? No need for red card also! And when the ball is saved or blocked on the line stopping a goal - just give a 'penalty' goal like a 'penalty' try in rugby.

What if the ball is trickling so slowly towards the goal that it might have stopped on the line, unbeknown to the player? What if Hawkeye would be needed to see if the ball really was going into the goal? [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Well I said stopping a goal so if the ball is 'trickling' towards the line and isnt definitely going in you would just give the penalty ! sheesh! I am more on about what suarez did against ghana in the world cup when he saved a certain goal and the penalty was missed - that shouldve been a goal but for blatant cheating - a penalty goal in that situation wouldve seen the correct outcome.
