Glasgow Rangers FC on 15:31 - Feb 13 with 2346 views | N12Hoop | Imagine if they got demoted, the Snorefest Premier League would become even more pointless than it currently is. Celtic would win the title by Xmas.

Glasgow Rangers FC on 15:39 - Feb 13 with 2278 views | OakwoodR | The Celtic MD was saying this morning that they don't need Rangers to be successful - Hmmmm... I think you may find you are wrong there old chap. The only interest in that league is the old firm competing against each other and that is now minimal at best. Without 2 strong clubs the league will find sponsorship deals and tv money shrinking to near nothing. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Glasgow Rangers FC on 16:22 - Feb 13 with 2077 views | Brightonhoop | Seems that the owner can recover his own investment, whilst the Club would be collapsed and Revenue could get nothing at all. He's bought a few days to negotiate with IR. Let's see who blinks first.

Fulham have racked up 4 times that much debt to finish around 10th every year, We won't be far behind in a couple of years either
Glasgow Rangers FC on 17:39 - Feb 13 with 1879 views | MrSheen | I know it's the PC thing on here to say the Old Firm are as bad as each other, but when I was growing up, there was only one professional football club out of 120+ on this island that wouldn't have given me a game (in theory). So f**k 'em.

Glasgow Rangers FC on 20:35 - Feb 13 with 1688 views | TGRRRSSS | The fact is it's like having Liverpool and Man United playing in League one every year in terms of the other sides around them. TV Sponsors etc basically lost interest years ago and they can't keep up with other British or European sides. The curious thing is they both have massive fan bases but that alone doesn't seem to help. I had to laugh at Celtic claiming they didn't need Rangers - surely they realise that without Rangers as a counter balance the last remaining vestige of interest will die???...

Irrelevant unless you are racking up that debt to the inland revenue. More important question is, why do the revenue allow clubs to build up all these unpaid taxes before finally deciding to issue formal proceedings? This has to be the largest amount owed before action is taken is it not? They issued winding up orders for 1o0k or less ffs!!!! I blame Alex Salmond and Scottish independance. (dance)

Glasgow Rangers FC on 20:57 - Feb 13 with 1656 views | nadera78 | It's not quite as simple as racking up debts to HMRC. This all comes back to EBTs, which were set up to allow small, co-op type companies to put aside a small amount of their wages into a trust to help employee benefits, etc. Then accountants spotted their usefulness and started using them for their rich clients. That's why virtually every club, in every sport, in this country has been using this as a form of tax evasion. Clive's Rugby league club is facing a million quid or so back payment I believe. A couple of years ago HMRC was given more staff to target this particular thing. Incidentally, it's believed that Arsenal were given a £300million bill by HMRC for back taxes and negotiated it down to £10million. Utterly disgraceful. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Do you know if this is about image rights payments, or is it something different? I believe HMRC lost some cases in the courts against Arsenal, so they didn't negotiate it all away, they just couldn't enforce it. I believe United had a provision of about £6m for back payments at the time of their bond issue a couple of years back Also Joey Barton's image was worth £675,000 pa, even before Twitter. Looks like not much has changed at the Broncos after all, mate. As long as they save the fifty point stuffings for away games...
Glasgow Rangers FC on 22:24 - Feb 13 with 1573 views | zicoshoops | At last, some good news. I hope it's just the start of the collapse of Professional Football as we know it, and that the Clubs are dragged kicking and screaming into the financial reality of the world in 2012. Players 'earning' anything up to 250k a week, yet even at a Club such as ours, supporters pick and choose their matches due to financial constraints. Man Utd play Liverpool in a Stadium half way round the world, with half the Stadium full of 'local' Man Utd supporters, the other half 'local' Liverpool supporters. Madness. Whatever happened to the working mans game? Hopefully returning to a location near us in the very near future.
Glasgow Rangers FC on 22:25 - Feb 13 with 1572 views | HollowayRanger | still makes me sick how we were stiched up and forced to take that loan to pay off debts in full while likes of leicester got off almost scot free built a new nice stadium and promoted

Glasgow Rangers FC on 22:31 - Feb 13 with 1566 views | MrSheen | There are suspicions that the new owner there has got himself to the top of the creditors list to the tune of £28m. The football creditors' rule doesn't apply up there. Buy the club for a quid, put it in administration, pay yourself a big dividend, flog it shorn of debts. Is he the lovechild of K*n B*t*S? C'mon the Revenue!
