Israel and Hamas agree to cease-fire, 33 hostages to be released on 01:51 - Jan 16 with 74 views | Robbie | Ceasefire , but really not an end to the troubles which will fester underneath . An end to a War being announced on media , not stated or said . Palestine and Israel have been at war since 1947 or records show long beyond that . Fanfare for Trump and a farewell pat on the back for Biden , Nobel Peace Prize beckons . Some BBC news reels still show Gaza residents still with guns riding shotgun and firing in the air in celebration . Israel responds by more bombing and loss of lives , . Handshake and kiss and make up gesture in this treaty , who knows .

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Israel and Hamas agree to cease-fire, 33 hostages to be released on 08:43 - Jan 16 with 4 views | AnotherJohn | A ceasefire is good news. The worry when you see Hamas still coordinating celebrations with guns in evidence, and pressure to let UNWRA continue assisting Hamas to run things, is that the basic problem of a route to living peacefully side by side will not be solved. Only a Palestinian move to force Hamas out will lead to a more responsive stance from an Israeli government. Unfortunately, too many Palestinians are still committed to the old ways. On a slightly different topic, Lammy has been quick to say that the UK will make a financial contribution to rebuilding Gaza. I hope he has worked out a way of stopping HAMAS from stripping out water supply pipes to make rockets.
