What value Cullen ? 19:30 - Dec 14 with 1163 viewsKeithHaynes

He’s had a very decent two months, internationally and for the Swans.

Today we saw another part of his game with that free kick.

He is bastly improved, so should the Swans cash in ?

He’s limited but has improved his game .
I’d rather us get shot of the dead wood ,like the Dutch left back, and Peterson .

No he loves it here and its showing in his performances and I got to credit Bellamy for giving him the confidence to bring the best out of him, delighted for Culls he just needed someone tot give him the confidence.
Excellent stuff, keep it up Culls.

I saw him bend in a free kick in an u21 pre-season game at Barry 4-5 years ago. I am surprised he has not been used more. He is not a complete forward due to his weakness with aerial crosses but is playing well non the less,

Cullen Cooper and Cabango are all slow burners and only now at 25 establishing themselves. I am a firm believer that many forwards in particular start to find their way after the age of 24 as they develop their craft by experience.

Piroe found his feet immediately after being given game time. It took him a year to become Leeds s no 9.

I am confident Vipotnik will improve too.

He doesn't want to move. But if his trajectory continues in the same direction, it will be hard to keep him and he will have offers he can't refuse.

He's improving and seems to have a new lease for life at the moment. He loves the club and would do anything for the shirt.
That kind of passion is a rarity in football nowadays,

His confidence and ability has changed markedly over the last few months. That coincides with Craig Bellamy taking the Wales job. However, Luke and co must also take the plaudits. Away from the pitch Liam has a settled private life, a new contract and loves being at the club. These are the ingredients that are needed to make his football complete.

Clubs will be noticing him, and many won’t be as ‘knowledgable’ as those who have watched Liam for years. For me he has gone from a 600 - 800k footballer to 3m plus in value. His all round game has improved so much in a matter of months, and he is currently a ‘goalscorer’ a commodity rarely found these days.

He is in his prime, if a club did come in for him, and I’m certain there will be inquiries next month then we have to push them to their absolute limit. But like Grimes I too agree he doesn’t want to leave and has no intention of doing so.

The move to attacking midfielder has been the making of him. He isn't the first (and won't be that last) to find a positional change brings big rewards.

His free kick yesterday was fantastic.

I think he’s a home bird and as long as he’s happy with his contract he’ll stay….no brainer there. I don’t think he’ll be the same player at another club. He’s a rare beast in football…loyal to his home club.

His free kick was spot on. Did call it at the time(no proof unless you ask Alan who's sits next to me and has to listen to my nonesense) the goalie left a big space to cover and the left footed strike curled in nicely away from him.

True. But £5.5K a week is still very low for a championship player. He is very happy here but if a club were to offer £20K a week he would probably go, it's not outside the realms of possibility as Blackburn were looking at over 10 before he signed the extension. He is now playing in the role Williams wanted for him this season, he was playing there for us before he played there for Wales. The only reason he wasn't playing there before was because we didn't have a fit player to play up front.

£5.5k a year is a whopping £286,000. Rivals like Stoke can always pay more but are £150m+ in debt to their owners.

The going rate guarantees bid g debts and possible administration.

Fans should not worry about players being paid sustainable wages. Of course to fans sustainable wages means league 1 wages.

In an ideal world mid table teams pay sustainable wages and make a small profit for the shareholders like the Trust.

I’m afraid up until very recently the club was offering league one wages. It’s an undoubted fact which the website did a lot of research in to, and no we don’t use capology etc. It did though save us from Tyrese Campbell which is a bonus.

Our recruits like Eom, Franco and Ronald are all on what would be described as a low salary player. You can add Bianchini to that. None are on anything more than 7k a week and that’s top line.

These wages have been enabled by loans of two ineffective strikers to Derby and Hibs, on the face of it good business with tough restrictions in place. We also should recall that well before the summer window Levien and Kaplan were aware of Coleman’s open attempts to shift them.

That’s how we had to operate so the chains were well locked on anything other than what we could raise plus a small investment. Coleman was determined to drive the salaries down based on what Levien allowed him to have. That meant some prospects as above could come in and possibly be big salary moves at a later date. None for me have done that consistently enough, in fact bar Eom as he has been injured they have pretty much stagnated in place due to the tough competitive nature of the championship.

Yesterday they were well and truly found out. But, it’s early days even for Ronald.

I think the club shopped well for what they had available, and those foreign players signed with one eye on leaving the Swans, as Ronald has already stated. Today, that is merely a pipe dream for him. Abbey and MOH for me have been a waste of two loan signings. But again we had to shop in a small market, and got what we deserved.

You completely miss the point and diverse to have a dig at the trust for no reason. Did I mention the club paying Cullen more no, is he happy with his salary and position here yes. You never rated him, that's fine. Others do including his club and international managers plus others just accept it. He could have sat on his contract and earned more away in the summer fact. He was happy with his new contract and still is. The point I made is if someone offered £20k a week he would probably leave, which most of our players would except one or two.

Stop posting pitiful replies to posts that do not respond accurately to the points made and only try to attract attention to yourself and your silly little agendas.

It is a huge shame Coleman and co couldn't take full control when they came in Spring 2023. Levien and Kaplan should have left the moment Coleman walked through the door.

I never buy this short career stuff and I will always ask why people think this is ok?

A player can move into coaching and/or managing andif not that, there are other jobs for those who haven't earned millions.

Why does anybody think it's ok for what would be the priviliged few to earn enough money to retire in their 30's when for most of us there's another 30 years of working to look forward to AND if we can no longer do a job because of physical issues we have to change paths.

There was no dig at the Trust. Profits and dividends are good. You "made that up".

I am promoting the idea of "sustainable wages" not "league 1 wages" . Almost a football clubs are losing money. If you quote "league 1 wages " it is spin for "underpaying the going rate". Paying the "going rate" means bankruptcy without owner cash injections.

Players wages are out of control and need to be brought under control. The club simply cannot afford to overpay Cabango and Darling unless they can sell them for millions down the line at get they money back.

Easier said than done for a professional sportsman. Having known a few in my time it’s not as easy as you suggest. Boredom and a sense of purpose are very important not just for the person but also for their family.
