What a signing this man has been.

Agreed . He’s standards never drop even when all around him are losing their heads .
His leadership qualities have been questioned but he leads by example.
Love the guy.

Just so consistent and a leader of men. Such a shame he went to Forest when he was on verge of signing for us a few years back, but glad to have him now

Yes, he was absolutely immense today, brilliant performance.

I feel sure the club will take out the option to extend his contract for a further year at the end of the season. He'll be 34 then but he looks like someone who can play into his mid-30s. He's fit, rarely injured and has excellent positional sense so he doesn't have to bomb around the pitch all that often. And, possibly even more importantly, Cook is the kind of character you want in the dressing room.

He’s been a brilliant signing for us, a player who was loved at his previous clubs and we can see why. If he keeps his performance levels for the rest of the season it will be a no brainier to offer him another year.

I'm confident Cook will be offered an extra year. Not so sure about the other older players, e.g. Colvack, Anderson.

Andersen turned 30 in September so not that old. That said, I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if we saw him depart next summer.

The thing about Cook at 33 is that he is supremely fit. Almost a grade above everyone else. Incredible physical athlete and just a great level headed leader. Hopefully a good 2-3 seasons left in him if he keeps these levels up.

Never knowingly right.

We do seem to be a club that is blessed with picking up seasoned pros.
From Jim Langley now to Cook and in between we have had Frank McClintock, David Webb, Ryan Nelsen.
Ever present as well this season.

Don't think they will. Wages. Release him, bring in 1 or 2 youngsters. Same with Anderson and Colback.
If JCS wasn't made of glass he would be partnering Morrison.
I like Cook, but we have to look forward.

Agreed… it’ll allow time for us to settle in a new centre back pairing with Cook as the steadying factor during the transition.

Today’s performance from him was the ultimate in making the right decision every single time. Didn’t put a foot wrong in awful conditions.

One of our best defenders ever

Not fair behind McDonald, Maddix etc

But we also we have had such crap defenders in the past maybe this accolade is easy for QPR

You have to keep a few experienced heads that know what this league (or the one below) is about. Be madness to not try keep Cook.

He reads the game very well, which means age isn't such an issue.

I should not say this but injury free too.

We tried to sign him couple of seasons before we got him.

Solid pro that is never worse than a 7 out of 10.

Leads by example. Reads the game intelligently.

Extend by two years in a player/coaching role.

Excellent role model for the younger pros.

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Decent, good captain, important to the Team & Club.

Cook. on 08:46 - Dec 8 with 1936 viewsRamseyR

If you watch him after the first goal and Kolli's second, each time he pulls Kolli to one side from the celebrations and has a "captain's word" in his ear. Keeps his own head and goes into captain and team mode. A really good professional and asset to our club.

An absolute class act as a player and undoubtedly a big influence on those playing alongside him.

Be madness to go into a season with only 2 strikers and 1 left back, but we did it!
I put money on him being offered a low ball contract, just so Nourry can say 'he didn't want to sign'. I like Cook, he is rarely injured and very consistent, but I just can't see him being retained.
The money being made available with the end of Paal, Anderson, Colback and Cooks contracts in the summer could mean being able to sign Saito and several new younger players.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

6
Cook. on 14:32 - Dec 8 with 1481 viewsLazyFan

He's not that fit, but he's managing his fitness well.

What he seems to be the best at in the Champ is positioning. He just fills the gaps or makes it really hard for even fast-paced forwards to get a shot away or any space to even run into. Reads the game the best.

If, we can get the ball up the other end, break the press and then keep it there, this is a nightmare for other oppo attacking teams.

As how do they break past QPR's defence with so few attacks as Cook is used to wave upon wave of attacks and now you only a have a few to try and beat a man who is 99.9% accurate in everything he does in defence.

We would be down last season and this season without Cook.

The spine last season was Asmir (yes, he made some crucial saves), Cook and Colback. If we had a better forward, we would not have been in so much trouble. Defence starts at the Papa Furlong frontline.

This season, we have Nardi, Cook, Varane and Frey. But the last two have been unavailable for too many games and Varane took time to get going. Bring that spine back and we look tough enough. Then we only need the creatives around them to make it happen. Add in extars like Field, Dunne, Morrison, JCS, and you look hard to score against. And has it not been so, recently?

The spine is there once they are all fit. Cook is critical to that.
New one plus one contract for me.

zzzzzzzzzz

Yes very much a classic QPR centre back in that mould.
