People in places such as Tewkesbury, Earnley, Alverstoke, Ross-on-Wye, Winchester, All Stretton and many other towns and cities who this year have suffered flooded homes and businesses and damaged roads would beg to differ.
And before you mention it, yes there have always been flooding events but not with this frequency and intensity. And, it's only going to get worse.

And Billing Aquadrome in Northamptonshire, whilst always a bit of a flood hotspot, has had serious floods three times alone this year, the most recent of which last week led to warnings of danger to life. And in the county the A14 dual carriageway was underwater, never known that to happen.
(As an aside, being from Northants, I've never understood why anyone would want to buy a holiday home in the middle of the country but each to their own...)
The British Touring Car Championship had three race days of ten suspended this year due to extreme rain and race tracks flooding - at Donington Park, Snetterton, and Silverstone which is the most advanced draining wise of the lot. You could call it bad luck, but three race days in a year to experience suspended action is unprecedented. |  | | |

You will NEVER accept the facts about flooding.
If you want to dramatically reduce the flooding in areas you refer to then it's simple :- reduce the population of the UK and stop building houses and infrastructure that stop natural percolation via hard standing etc. If you're really serious about it then demolish all the wrongfully approved schemes on flood plains etc.
If you cannot entertain even just a slim chance that this great climate lie is actually all about screwing more money out of us and has become a self serving industry via sustainability bullshit then fine.
I totally accept the weather and climate is changing. It has since this rock was formed millions of years ago and it will continue to do so with no amount of tofu eating stopping that.
I'll say no more.... I'm off to look at some caveman art that showed them driving 4.0L Range Rovers across the Teutonic plates which of course caused the Tropics, the Ice Age etc

On the way to the Swansea game we went past Port Talbot and I said to my lad that was somewhere we learned about at school as it was the hub of industry that produced the coal that fuelled the country. He told me that although the fuel they mine there is not used domestically anymore (so that we meet our Carbon emissions targets) we sell it abroad.
I mean wtf.
We'll get on the high horse to not use such fuel and then sell it to others who will. We make money, the C emissions will still find their way into the atmosphere, but not on our "accounts" so we're alright.
There is some truth in Climate Change and the signs are that we ARE threatening the planet, but unless EVERYONE does something, our little bit is pointless.

I always struggle with the fact that that people who are most vocal re immigration are also the most vocal re mitigations to climate change like they dont see that the latter will drive the former. But then of course you stop and realise that the UK is on the same Latitude as Alaska, Canada, Sweden and Siberia and if the ice sheets do melt and that cold water stops the Atlantic current or pushes it south, then it will be so bloody cold that no one will want to come here anyway and it all makes a bit more sense. |  | | |
