I’d file that under “absolutely no chance”.

Millwall v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 22/23 MONDAY UPDATE on 23:19 - Mar 14 by swan65split | A january window! ah if only, whose fault was that ? things maybe different, who can tell? |
YEs much has been spoken of the January window and how the owners have let Russ down so npedigree we brought in Darling , Wood and Sorinola in the summer all Russ picks and also he had Ogebta a left back bought in the previous JAn window yet ignored oh and FInn Stevens a loanee from PL Brentford who are good with young players yet chose not to play him.....so what should have been done in the defence? If you were bankrolilng us would you wish to to give this manager more cash to spend in defence? Our midfield slow ponderous we brought Joe Allen back ion the summer, still not sure how that decision came about given how no one at the club now involved with recruitment /management has emotional ties ....we also have a creative player in NAtcham but hardly used...... Then a striker but given the ball hardly ever comes forward why spend here especially as silly money is demanded for strikers during the JAn window Russell is to blame for our position his persistence with a system which shows it doesnt work ,,,even when he changes things and it brings success he reverts to type. His poor recruitment has led to lack of support form the owners who do not have a bottomless pit to throw away on players that dont just work especially when coached by our Russ

Massive contradiction there Vetch, the last paragraph highlights all you say previously. You claim he has has support and then at the end you state he lacked support. We didn't get what we needed in the summer window, we needed a right back.....we motor along and when the window comes, we lose 6 players with not one meaningful first steamer brought in. Martins reighn hasn't set the world alight for sure but there has been opportunities for the board to add and help to it, January window is the perfect example.......that window was the hammer that hit us to where we are today. Previously Martins record hasn't been great but there is no coincidence that since January a massive rut has kicked in. There is no bottomless it but clearly there is money there but for whatever reason, owners decided to use very little on 2 young kids that are nowhere near the starting line up. We were mocked byb many for our window and rightly so........it showed us up as what we are as a club.

We are a contradiction. Easy in the eye football but football that loses games . You can’t be the best side an£ lose. Not really. It’s a cliche It’s about winning games .

You have no idea about the opportunities that were available in January. You also have no idea about the effect of acquiring them. They have brought in 24 players under his stewardship, many personally requested by him. To put where we find ourselves today down to January is just revisionism at its finest. We were rubbish long before January. Since January has been the aftermath of Russell causing as many distractions as possible to put the blame elsewhere, even blaming the players when the blame game against the owners ran out of steam. His ridiculous pre rehearsed press conference when the window shut built the foundations for disharmony, setting up the “us against them” scenario where he basically said “we were finally ready to take culpability for where we are and get to a point where we can be judged… buuut we can’t be now as this isn’t our fault”. The management team is insufferable. From the misplaced arrogance in their released training clips, to their petulance on the sidelines, to their attitudes towards fans. I’m very much looking forward to a clean break from this cult next season, and can only hope the fans snap out of the stupor they have been in after drinking the Martin kool-aid, never seen anything like it in my life. We still have stragglers making excuses for him. It’s embarrassing.

I don’t recall any previous manager getting away with what he does. We expect failure now.Martin does. His words prove it. Few other fans would take what we are .

No contradiction .....he has been supported up until the JAnuary window I asked the question where did we need players and indicated what we had done in previous windows....highlighting the poor choice of acquisitions from our erstwhile manager. Why ii it the same players did well for a patch in October as I highlighted in the players thread? The same players that were around since the window.... WHy put all the blame on the owners what if some of the "targets" didnt fancy coming to a side struggling for a win out in the footballing sticks? HOw do you you know the lack of incomings was all down to the "tightfistedness" of the owners?

Fairly obvious that Martin will only play 'his' players unless forced by injury or straight talking to include 'others'. This blinkered approach reduced the choices we could have made in January. So, we focussed on players he approved of or requested. Several targets stayed put or chose elsewhere and, given the experiences of a numbers of loanees, that is understandable. Williams, Ogbeta, Stevens, Oko-Flex, Darling, NTcham, Benda, Fulton are all players affected by the vagaries of Russell Martin.

I’ve read he is a great man manager. I tend to see him as a destroyer or men Loanees brought it to develop with us only to be dumped on sight . He is killing us as our precious good name is being sullied
