Keith thinks it shouldn't have been a goal. 23:33 - Feb 19 with 9506 viewsFrog

“ I must admit I’m deeply disappointed with the second goal and the non-decision from the officials. You have four officials who can all blatantly see that there’s been a foul committed and for nobody to actually flag it up is beyond me."
"I think it’s too easy for the official to make a wrong call against us because they know we’re bottom of the league and there are no real consequences to it because the footballing world expects us to get relegated. It’s an easy decision for officials to make when they come here now to award goal scoring opportunities, non-free-kicks to the opponents and I don’t like it."

I though yesterday that this might be the end of Keith Hill in League football.

He's lost the mojo that made him our most successful manager and while we were awful in the first half, Scunthorpe didn't really go to kill us off like Keith Hill teams of old would have done.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Hill when Scunthorpe are relegated. If you look at the compare and contrast with what is going on at Oldham you have to fear that they are done for.

He can always say they were a basket case when he took over.
Strange that no-one else has mentioned this, even Scunthorpe fans, as far as I can see.
Classic case of deflecting criticism.

Shows him up for what he has become. So sad really , his ego outshines anything that he has achieved. I thank him for 2 promotions , but then his downfall was dramatic and painful to watch and listen.
He is now a very bitter man with a serious inferioty complex . He will never manage a large club with fans who have expectations since he cannot handle even one or two grumbles in the main stand at Rochdale.

It’s a sad how Hill has become, I can see him in a kind director of football role, a role he can organise transfers ect without any match day pressure.
If he could get back to the hill of old there would be a very good lower division manager there

Somewhere along the way, KH swallowed the tippy tappy pill, as though it was needed if he wanted to be successful in higher divisions rather than sticking to what had worked for him previously. The results declined but he either wouldnt change or then didnt have the players to change back to what he knew. The problem at this level of football is that bigger faster stronger lads will beat the tippy tappy players 3 or 4 times out of 5. If you cant compete physically, you cant compete. Even now we have better results against top half teams than those lower down the table who are prepared to scrap and do what is required to survive.
KH has become a firefighter for clubs at the bottom of division 2 , attempting the impossible, hoping for miracles, but his head has been stewed by the tippy tappy pill.
He needs to figure out why he was successful with us and do more of that and have less of the BBM mantra whispering in his ear. Its not the complicated game some would try to have us believe its.

Given he signed Rekeil Pyke and Ryan Delaney on deadline day, I don't think many clubs would want him overseeing transfers anymore either.

Tangled up in blue.

Scunny's League record before Hill arrived was W 2, D 5, L 8
Since his arrival: W 2, D 5, L 10

Not the kind of firefighting that is going to get him another EFL job I suspect.
Sad, but the guy has well and truly lost it.

Scunthorpe losing 3 nil at half time. Could it be his last game? Difficult to see where he would go from here.

I have both fond and bitter memories of his time at Dale, euphoria at finally getting promoted and disdain at the tactics employed at the end of his tenure. I can't dislike him because of the excitement and pride in him getting us promoted and some of the amazing players brought in during his tenure. I hope he stays on at Scunny and gets them back into the league. No lasting hard feelings here.

sad to see where he has ended up. on his day our best gaffer ever without doubt. so many great memories. also can't forget how ghastly it was before Dale rightly sacked him.

The instant turnaround of the club's fortunes in 2007, two promotions, two trips to Wembley, the amazing last day escape (JT game) in 2018 - none of it can ever be taken away from him

I hope he turns Scunny round too. His brief interview on Quest last night suggests he's up for it

On a sidenote, sad that Luke Matheson has been mainly appearing off the bench during his loan spell, although perhaps Hilly was simply protecting him

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

It might be nothing more than coincidence but he never seemed to be the same bloke after his father passed away. The difference between the highs and lows during his two spells were humungous0.

Not sure he still has it as a manager. Maybe time to look at something else.

I said that around the time he left us. losing your father puts life in perspective and I often wondered if he felt as if he no longer had his father to be his biggest fan, the person he worked hard to make proud of his achievements. Once that drive to be the son he felt his father wanted him to be left him so did the importance of winning and being a winner.

Is there anyone there to do the sacking? Chairman walked out a few weeks ago and the club looks to be rudderless from where I’m looking.
Could be a long road back from the quicksand of the fifth tier.
