we have to. While I'm confident we'll continue to have a good season, we're unlikely to go up, meaning next season we will have to start again without, probably, two from Willock, Chair and Dickie - and possibly without all three. Serious work to be done.

Bare bones.

So negative!!!! Haven't seen much better in this league than us so far. We are in a play-off position and deservedly so, Should we get into the playoffs then we all know it can be a lottery. Not many sides will be looking forward to playing us if we continue to perform like we have done for much of the season.....Far too early to write us off.

Watched him at the U23's v Blackburn the other week. They played him as a No 10 behind two strikers.
Didn't set the game alight and missed a sitter from not more than 3 yards out.
When I got in the ground and saw the teams warming up, from a distance I thought it was Johansen.
Hoping to see more games for the U23'S, U18's, as have now retired early (53).
Does anyone know if they allow fans in at Harlington to watch the games there?

Smells like a trout farm in here

Who are you so sure will go up rather than us Antti? West Brom? Blackburn, Coventry?

Of course we may not be promoted, but we have as good a chance as any of the other clubs barring the top two. I still wouldn't rule out Bournemouth slipping back to the pack either!

Don't get me wrong! I think we have a real chance! More just realistic thinking - we're probably losing Chair and Dieng for a few weeks, which could have a big effect on us, and even if we make the play-offs, only one goes up. It's always possible Bournemouth might fall back, but the probability is they won't.

I'm hopeful, but as a club, it's the job of recruiters to be both hopeful (who could we get if we go up?) and pessimistic (who would we replace Chair with? Who could take the place of Willock? etc). That was more my point. You simply cannot stand still and must work on the assumption you could lose your best player(s) at any transfer window, otherwise you're not doing your job properly! Even if the stars aligned and we went up, we could still lose 1-3 of our best players.

Bare bones.

Beat Derby on Monday (and I say that knowing this is not a given!) and then enjoy watching Fulham and Bournemouth play each other on Friday… could be an interesting week!

…alternatively it could be a typically QPR type week of missed opportunity.

The bookies are now offering a £5 profit for the first time on a cash out for my £30 bet on us going up.

With everything else fcuking up in the world I must say it's a nice distraction to be in the position we're in. When the Ale Faurlin transfer point deduction bollocks was going on I spent a lot of time wandering around a comparatively functional world worrying about something nobody around me would have even understood.

Point being if we don't go up we probably loose certain players, but we're unlikely to be stiffed over them, we get to use a percentage of that money to build and be competitive, we finish the training ground, etc. That would be my preference tbh. But I'm more open to going up now than before, which may be partly related to Ruben's recent interview - the idea of 'not betting the house' was a hard won and very welcome comment.

But I digress quite badly - this Gerry Rafferty Pedder kid sounds interesting.

I think this is fair comment. We can't rest on our laurels regardless of what division we are in next year. Clive's interview with the the recruitment guy was very enlightening and shows the forward thinking that is currently going on. If we go up, we are unlikely to lose any of our star players, but if we don't, we will probably lose 2 or 3. The beauty is they will leave on our terms and for a proper valuation. With a proper recruitment system in place - as evidenced by the trial of these two this week - we should be able to replace them with up and coming, hungry and talented players.

I think another point is that if we get up the players will probably stay as you said and in the very likely event we come straight back down again we’re selling players with Premiership experience which most likely adds a considerable amount to their fees if (as we’re getting better at) we’ve got them on decent contracts with no need for a relegation fire sale.

Bit of a contrast in physique with the Scottish lad from Albion Rovers.

Remembering Little Tom Carroll, it does rather make me wonder if Spurs actually feed their U-23s or just let them forage for scraps around north London.

If we sign both of them, there's a strong risk that one of them will eat the other one, I'm just trying to work out if physical bulk will win out over pure hunger.

We'd need to keep them in separate cages. They can pay for their own straw we're not a charity.

I'd imagine that their respective landladies would be supplying them with a packed lunch in a nice easy to carry tin every day.
A cheese sandwich, tomato, a packet of beef flavoured hula hoops and probably a penguin biscuit or some such.
A small box of Um Bongo to wash it all down.

Thats what I'd imagine but sometimes I get things wrong, so who knows?

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

We need to get a player into the squad to help the Willock/Chair formation - we got nobody who can play their role and it will be difficult for the Team when Chair goes away next year in the International tournament.....this player could be someone who they want to bring in and see if he could do the job.

I am confident that we will sign someone on loan who they have a long term plan for, ie, to sign him on a QPR contract if MW and his team think he could do a job for us.
