The Will Nobody Think Of The Fans Match Thread vs WBA 12:50 - Sep 24 with 31511 viewsEsox_Lucius

John Gerard reporting very heavy congestion around the the M5 Jcn 1 area tonight. If you are driving then get there very early as it is a real pinch point and can take ages when it is snarled up.

The grass is always greener.

Horrible mistake by Dieng but if Odubajo wasn't ball-watching and had bothered to get himself back in position there may not have been a shot to save.

Probably the worst I've seen Chair play for us; hesitant, poor decision-making and giving the ball away which cost us tonight.

When Johansen went off he must've taken Ball with him, we completely lost the midfield.

Poll: Who’s better?

Wasn’t to be. We looked very sluggish and made lots of individual error. A shadow of the team that knocked Everton out of the League Cup.

Let’s put this behind us and focus on the next game.

Unbeaten or not, I'm really glad I don't have to watch West Brom every week.

Chair responsible for the second no doubt but also Warburton taking Willock of is a criminal de ision unless injured

If you spend 90 minutes banging the ball back to them, that`s what happens.

'You didn't know that was wrong, but now you do. If you do it again, I'll know you are doing it on purpose.'

We did wonderfully well with Everton, but that was frankly abject at times, bar one or two moments where Chair sparked and flickered. The truth is we were seriously off it, and they didn't even get out of third gear to win, pretty much by default. Warburton needs to come out and have the courage to say too many of our players were sub-par - Jojo and Ball weren't worth their places - and we played a lot of the game like we were wading through treacle. We won't worry the top 6 if we continue in that vein, and the pity of it is, as I say, West Brom weren't even much cop.

After the fire and crackle of Tuesday, that was a bucket of sick, topped off by the unfathomable decision to sub off Willock (even if he hadn't exactly set the game alight before then)! So much for building a team that 'takes care of the football'!

Was it fatigue, focus, or something else? Tonight it almost felt like we wanted to lose, topped off by Seny's weirdly collusive-looking o.g. Will be interested to hear if Warburton can eschew cliche for once in his post-match interview and shed some truth-telling light on it.

I'll tell you something else, if Johansen is out for a lengthy period, he's the only one to blame. About 15 minutes before he came off you could see MW say to him "if you've got a problem, say so".

Really shouldn't post right now cos I am furious, but f'ck me, West Brom were never going to score until Seny's screw up. Absolutely spafffed that game away. I wasn't in the slightest worried that we didn't get the ball down and play more football, it's sodding impossible against that lot, but the work was done. JEEEEEEEEZUS!!!!

All the discipline of the 1st half just went out of the window. What was Chair doing piddling about trying to beat 3 players gets turned over and they break and score 2nd goal. Disappointing we had a point in the bag even after Senny's mistake.

Just not happening for us at the moment. Last 3 games we’ve been unlucky and have no points to show. I do think having to play Tuesday and tonight was harsh. You could tell the sharper team that hadn’t played midweek. Ultimately though, the reason we lost today was due to a howler from the keeper. Second half, up to that point they didn’t look like scoring so makes it all the more annoying. I like the keeper but he has to ask himself some questions as that was poor. Really poor. Also not sure what happened to Chair after missing that chance second half. Seemed to become a park footballer for the last 10 mins.

We've been saying that for a few weeks now. 3 successive 2-1 defeats. QPR have reverted to the team that concedes at least 2 goals per game. Difficult to win football matches when you do that.

2 unfortunate errors from players who have been key men for us all season. As said, on the strength of 2 days rest.

Looked like Johanssen's hamstring from the other night finally went - to some extent at least. Wonder if he was nursing his way through things a bit, might explain his very quiet performance.

Fcuk.

Letting in two goals per game for a gazillion games in a row isn't unlucky, it's careless. We need to work on defence, as simple as that.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Well at least we won’t have to worry about bids for Dieng or Chair from clubs watching tonight.

Bounce back next week lads!! Worried about the injuries tonight

Should of had minimum 8 points from last 4 games … we have 1 point !!
Not going anywhere with those returns !!!
Can understand reading Bristol and Bournemouth down to bad luck but tonight we have no excuse for that and as well as warbs has made good decisions to change games , that was coming from the start of the second half , chair should have been taken off instead of willock

Losing 2-1 away to Bournemouth and West Brom could happen at any time and we are just unfortunate they happen to be consecutive away games for us.

But three of those goals have come from individual howlers, Dickie, Dieng and Chair. Unfair to label it as a team weakness I think.

Only listened mind, but it sounded to me that we played a solid 75 mins, fluffed them a soft goal and they then put a decent move / goal together. I’d been pretty upbeat until the last ten mins, feel like it was one we let slip rather than them beating us…which worries me a little. We’re a good side, playing well, losing in style, there’s something amiss.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

Yes. Let’s be honest, we weren’t very good tonight for whatever reason but we move on.

Thought we defended well. Not much anyone can do about Dieng throwing one in.

we really need to beat Birmingham 1 point from 12 is very frustrating.

we play nice football but i still feel we have a weak underbelly.

Warnock's title-winning side bury Bristol City last Saturday and hang on for the win tonight. Big game Tuesday - we need to show some ruthlessness. I'm surprised Amos wasn't in the squad tonight - he looked really good on Tuesday and would have added something to the midfield, particularly second half.

Coventry and Todd Kane second in the table tonight.

I'd be tempted to bring on Dykes for Jojo about 60 mins if it's still 1-0.

That worked well 😁

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

It is, but I've always thought a defence can play well and concede 2. And tonight we did
I don't want to be 'happy clappy' about it, but we adjusted our style of play tonight, and ultimately it didn't work. But it wasn't far off. If we'd played our normal game, Warburton would have got pelters for tactical naivety. It's a narrow defeat against a side that will be up there. We can't keep losing clearly, but we've got the capability of doing well there

We’re a pretty team in a league of monsters and we all know who wins that battle.

Individual errors but we were wilting.

We've been punished again for simple errors.
Last week it was Dickie - caught in possession.
And then there was the de Wijs slip against Bristol City.
This time it was Seny's own goal - having saved the shot at the near post.
And then - recovering - he palmed the ball into the net.
And that was followed by Chair caught in possession which led to West Brom's winner.
It's such a shame.
But as in all professional sport - make simple errors - and you are severely punished.

We have a great bunch of lads in our team with lots of talent.
Gray's goal after just 45 seconds was so well taken.
We play a brand of football that we love - although tonight was a 'backs to the wall' effort.
And it seemed enough as West Brom were going nowhere.
This was not the QPR that we usually see - week in and week out.
But there was a strong resilience which was pleasing.
And of course let's give credit to the opposition.
They're going to finish at the top - or close to the top of the tree.
But our team is a good one.
And we do have the skills.
I'm still confident of a top 6 finish.
But it's going to be tough if we gift opponents - as if Christmas had already arrived.
