Something very profound about losing a parent. I lost my dad to Covid in December and 3 weeks earlier my younger brother Michael passed, he was only 44 so it was a a tough tough period all round and I'm still reeling from it truth be told. Thoughts are with you BC at this really sad time for you and your family. |

Condolences BC, I hope you find comfort that you were able to be with him at the end.
Currently at my parents' place clearing everything out as my Mum's in a home now. My Dad was a bit of a hoarder and kept an insane amount of all types of stuff, I'm finding receipts for cars he bought in the 60s and 70s, decades old correspondence anybody else would have thrown out after a year or two, complete sets of stuff from international trips, cards they sent to each other and, this will amuse some of you, a letter of thanks from Sir Ronald Russell, Conservative MP for Wembley South, for his support in the 1970 election. I hope she gets the best care after a long life its what she deserves. Once they leave their own homes and independence its a massive change so hopefully the transition is smooth.
Love the story about all the receipts its how all the older people were "we might need that again"but now it seems funny.

Stay strong for your dad and your family - all of us are here for you. I lost my dad in 2005 and it still cuts, but I remember the great times we had together, plus I’ve got the permanent scar of QPR I inherited from him! …and I know I’ll see him again one day. [Post edited 14 Oct 2023 7:01]

Some people are lucky to have had decent relationships with their family members and if one of the lucky ones to have had that, it's always tough without your parents around, whatever age you may be so feel for all.
Lost both my parents during the year of lockdowns which was very challenging and in particular because other members of the family constantly disingenuous for unknown reasons.
Still miss both my parents every day. Was very lucky to have had their love for so long and there will always be moments. | |
