Kit Launch Thread on 12:44 - Apr 2 by 442Dale | There needs to be the variation away from stripes now and again or you end up with shirts that appear too similar - although I prefer stripes it’s the colours that are important and apart from 15/16 (when the players apparently chose it!!!) we’ve had black as part of our kit since 2008 now so blue/black/white are most definitely Rochdale’s unique colours. The important thing is how you use the colours, see how Man U use black as their third colour for example. That’s why variations such as hoops or diagonal stripes etc could be an option. Would also argue that teams who do traditionally wear stripes should never move away from them as it never looks right. Brighton got away with it this year as they wore similar in the early 80s but when sides such as Notts, Stoke and Southampton have gone to pinstripes it’s looked so wrong. |
Having said that, the kit Southampton wore the year they won promotion from League One was absolutely beautiful, with the red diagonal sash on a white background.

Kit Launch Thread on 14:08 - Apr 2 by 442Dale | It’s the plain white collar and cuffs and the round badge that are the link. Would go as far to say we have five thin black stripes rather than pinstripes as they usually appear more often, in this case Brighton have nine and they’re much thinner than ours. |
Plus their sponsor logo breaks the pinstripes, whereas ours doesn't. Someone on Facebook said it looked like St Johnstone. Erm, right... http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/St_Johnstone/St_Johnsto

Kit Launch Thread on 17:22 - Apr 2 with 2895 views | Brierls | “The home kit see’s the return of Dale blue...”. Except it doesn’t. That is a lighter shade of blue if you look at the pics of Matt Done modelling it. I wish we’d stick with the blue & black stripes, but even the pin stripe design could have looked better with the ‘Dale’ shade of blue, black trim and black shorts. A fan designed red shirt won the 2016/2017 vote. Why? It incorporated the blue & black with a prominent sash design. It must be a return to ‘Dale Red’. The third shirt looks good. In the same way that the retro third shirt looks good this season. That just goes to show that Errea can produce the goods if the club can be arsed to seek fan input or provide a template that has meaning to the club, There’s no excuse for not seeking fan opinion on shirt design. You are asking your customer which shirt you are most likely to buy. Not rocket science and pure laziness. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Thing is, what's "Dale blue"?

Kit Launch Thread on 18:14 - Apr 3 with 2295 views | ChaffRAFC | Home kit - I like it, it's different and, like this seasons, comes away from that god awful generic Errea template involving the two white and white thin stripes in different places or the lazy stripes of last season and the season before. This season's kit was a welcome change and next seasons looks to be too. Away kit - Ace! Love a red away kit, doesn't happen often for obvious reasons but I've liked it when it has and next season's effort looks top I think. Third kit - I do quite like it but would prefer the badge to be a normal one but it's nit picking I guess. Arguably my least favourite of the three.
