Dale v Vale on 14:38 - Aug 29 by 442Dale | If he has/does, every penny better be added to BBM’s budget. The lack of additions and/or trialists seven days before we play our first competitive game is demoralising to say the least. It must be for the coaching team and experienced players too. |
No Rathbone No Left back No forwards No trialist No ambition Invisible Chairman Unless CEO. Fcuk this club am done with it.

While he’s not that or the answer to all our problems, he’s looked quite sharp in the friendlies.

Only takes an injury to Newby or Done this week and it leaves us in a really bad situation regarding forwards and I know Newby’s not an out and out forward but he’s probably likely to be our most creative going forward. I’m really hoping things are in place to bring in two experienced forwards this week. Think we can manage at the back for now with Keohane at left back forwards are our biggest priority for me. He's done literally nothing so far other than give the ball away. Tavares was poor in the opening 15 minutes before getting a couple of really good chances. The second one he has to score as well. Poor miss.

That chance he missed after going round the keeper summed up both our points! Looked sharp getting there but then a poor finish. This game is illustrating pretty much what everyone is saying. We play some good stuff and it’s really quite progressive rather than passing for passing sake, but there’s little or nothing in the area when we get near it. If we were to get just one or two strikers in it would at least give us some choices, it doesn’t have to be some superstar, but a proper centre forward looking to prove a point at whatever stage of their career.

Dale v Vale on 15:39 - Aug 29 with 2534 views | DaleiLama | When is the Uber due to take the Vale commentator to the comedy club? Hope his stand up routine is better than his commentary. Is anyone else's sound three seconds ahead of the action - it wasn't at Stocky? We've created some chances so there's that, but our finishing has been woeful thus far.

Done rounds the keeper then duffs it when only 1 defender to beat on the line. Reasonable performance so far with the 2 Tavares efforts at least testing the keeper. The second one he didn't hit cleanly. I find him an odd player. Doesn't do much for long spells, but once something comes off he is suddenly in the game for a spell. We are going to struggle in league 1 with teams that are fit and press us hard. Nice touches against Vale at the back & midfield but I think the top half teams in league 1 will not let us do this. Nothing in the air up front at the moment so hopefully any striker we bring in will have a bit of height

Like you say it’s a presence we need who can hold the ball and give the team a breather, Although he’s getting on O’Grady was always good at holding the ball and bringing players into play we have the legs with the young lads so maybe worth a shout. Might chip in with a few goals as well. [Post edited 29 Aug 2020 15:51]

This first half is a perfect example of why supporters’ concerns are justified. It is on the club to support the manager over the next week. At present he’s being set up to fail.

1-0 Vale with a Penalty on the stroke of HT. Clumsy tackle by Jim to give it away. Dale on top for most of the game & the Pen I think was their only shot on target. Promising at the back & in midfield but not a forward line for league 1 at the moment.

Not quite sure why he thought of stabbing at it with his left foot when it was an obvious right foot shot? For all his willing running he ain't a finisher. [Post edited 29 Aug 2020 20:13]

Indeed. There was a distinct feeling of progress about the club at the height of Hilly's second spell. It doesn't even feel like treading water at the minute. Even taking Covid out of the equation it feels like we are slipping inexorably backwards.

Dale v Vale on 12:59 - Aug 29 by ChaffRAFC | Good post and one I completely agree with. I was speaking to someone yesterday about the Coleman era and then realised that with the likes of Grimes, Gornell, Adebola, Symes etc, we had a stronger forward line than what we have now and we only stayed up that season because of Bobby Grant and Keith Hill's return. We've released 4 forwards and a loannee went back. Those 5 forwards contributed 19 goals last season in an unfinished season. Yes, that also indicates that the likes of Andrew and Gillam offered absolutely nothing but those 19 goals will have to come from somewhere to give us at least half a chance. Matt Done, Fabio Tavares, Keaton Mulvey and Kwadwo Baah, do they have 19 goals in them? I would say absolutely not due to form, age and experience levels. Yes, things may change by the time the window shuts but we don't have the quality to be able to play catch up on the other, better prepared sides in our league.

I’m not sure where people get this idea from that Hill saved us from certain relegation when he returned. In Coleman’s final season with us we’d been in and around the playoffs most of the season, before losing a few matches in a row. Even then when Hill came back we were still only mid-table. I wasn’t even remotely worried and I don’t think many other people were either.
