Probably stuck between a rock and hard place due to contractual obligations to Sky. Shows the power balance between TV companies and fans. Does anyone know the proportion of TV revenue compared to Ticket sales?
September 12 new season starts. on 16:13 - Jul 24 with 4839 views | Nov77 | 7 and a half weeks from the last game. 3 and a half weeks off, 4 weeks prep should be ok. Would need to get busy on the transfer front though.

September 12 new season starts. on 16:34 - Jul 24 with 4733 views | qprxtc | I thought the reason to start this early was the knock on effect it’ll have on the Euro Championships and World Cup and it was a pain in the arris to try and squeeze it all in? It seems to me that full capacity stadiums are going to be some time away yet, so may as well get started ASAP. It’s going to be a nightmare trying to sell season tickets for this though. Not sure how it’ll be applied if we only have 25% capacity. Who’ll be at the front of the queue? Will it be a rotor system? Will it be discounted if we only have TV access? Flipping heck, Tucker!

I presume they will have an option to not attend? My in-laws and parents and having to isolate still so would rather not jump on a tube and head to a game where some cnt is screaming spittle all over the back of my head, one of those "masks are to keep the population under control" types.

This sky stuff is getting a bit confusing. Who's watching their matches? People who don't normally go to football? I think they're right to start asap, otherwise when do you start? What if you say November because we can get some fans back, but then there's a bigger second wave, and it's delayed? Football without fans is sh!t (although inerestingly got a lot better in the last few weeks as players got fitter and used to it). No football is worse. IMO.

Maybe it is too early for The Championship, but is it for Divisions one & two, The National League & the rest of the pyramid? They need to start playing again as soon as possible. Please Queens Park Rangers, don't do as you did in June & complain about the start date (not that they have). You know how that one turned out!

Is there some extra money coming in to allow lower league clubs to meet their financial commitments without any gate receipts?

I don't think there's been any extra money as such. I think all the Premier League has done is advance money that was due anyway.

I'm not aware that there is for EFL clubs, but every week that goes by without playing makes it harder to restart. The National League clubs do receive some income from television, but I have doubts that this applies to the North & South divisions. There are some expectations that from the Southern/Isthmian Legues downwards they will be allowed spectators. The capacity will be greatly reduced so that the mass gathering rule in not contraveened, but for most clubs they will be allowed to hold what is there normal attendance. ie, allowed to hold 25% of capacity of 2,000 but average attendance is 350. Plus they will receive bar income! Certainly at that level, all clubs are crying out to restart.

Those that are on direct debit would normally be automatically renewed! So would they be first come, even though some of them may not want to attend initially. I would suggest it will be far more complicated. If they are talking about a 25% attendance maximum then does that number exceed the number of season ticket holders? I don't think so. So the club will have to write to all season ticket holders with an explanation of their plans and rules for reopening and try to ascertain at what point they are prepared to attend again and whether they are in a bubble with any other ST holders Then they will have to reallocate the seating with social distancing, to those that definitely want to attend as soon as they can. If they have more ST holders that want to attend than seats available, then they will have to decide on a system of who attends when. (and maybe a game swap system if you don't get a seat for a particular game and are unavailable for another that you have got a seat for) They then have to come up with how and when to enter and leave the stadium and whether you can leave your seat during the almost two hours from start to finish.

I gather clubs will send a health questionnaire to ST holders in order to ascertain their suitabilty to attend. So old geezers and people with certain medical conditions won't gain entry. Harsh, but probably the only way to sort it out for the coming season.

What is your source for that, Colinallcars? Unless you have an infectious decision or there is some sort of lockdown law then surely the decision is with the individual? Otherwise there will be accusations of ageism and discrimination, illegal under the 2010 Equality Act.

Hence first come first served, frustrating for those of us who miss out but almost certainly a route free of litigation.
