Dirty Doras on 11:58 - Feb 23 by union_jack | Yes, I thought that. I remember going into Dora’s one Friday night (c.81) with a friend who’d come down from London and as we got to the bottom of the steps the first thing we saw was someone smashing a pint glass over another punter. So, don’t know about him saying there was never any trouble or in fact there were no proper glasses or bottles? |
There was a stabbing there on it's opening night. It didn't deter anyone in those days, actually it only helped to publicise the place In 69 one of the first DJ's was a guy called Clive Halifax, Clive had an ironmongery shop in Brynmill until very recently, but I think he's now retired to Spain. I saw Marmalade there in 69 or 70 performing their UK No 1 single 'Ob La Di Ob La Da' a master piece by Lennon & McCartney.

I can remember waking up in one of those chairs in the early hours back in the 70's. Place was empty except for someone hoovering around me. Nobody had tried to wake me or throw me out. Hell of a place but never had any trouble there ........ Saw plenty mind!

Just spoke to my brother, yes and then it was the marina or something. He saw sham 69 there, boomtown rats, southern death cult, then his band played there, first when he was in discharge then PFS. He went off then about port talbot and a venue there but I’ve forgotten the name. He saw the dickies there I know that much. You should be able to catch PFS later in the year at Rebellion.

Circles was the first show the Cult ever played in any form. Someone else mentioned The Pistols further up and I do believe they did play the dockers club but under the guise of SPOTS when they were banned from loads of venues they went out as Sex Pistols On Tour. The Boys played as did the Queerboys just before they became the Quireboys. Girl played in there as well. Wasn't the club in port talbot called Raffles?? remember the UK subs playing there early 80s

The Troubadour in Port Talbot maybe? Saw The Ruts there, went to see the Rejects there, but they pulled out on the night. Bizarrely ended up in a fight between Rhondda Punks and Cardiff Skins, who all supported the Bluebirds. Will definitely go and see PFS at Rebellion, last saw them in Vienna!

Dirty Doras on 19:36 - Feb 24 with 2082 views | alltjack | The Troubador was brilliant.Used to travel over from Pontardawe most Thursday Nights, seen loads of punk bands there. One night a band called Splodgenessabounds I think said something about Johnny Owen the boxer. It really kicked off
Dirty Doras on 19:41 - Feb 24 with 2073 views | Darran | I don’t care what anyone else says the Troubadour on Thursday nights was the greatest night anywhere in the world. It’s actually still there and I was talking to a couple of Port Talbot councillors about it a few weeks ago and suggested it gets reopened as a band venue.

Dirty Doras on 20:51 - Feb 24 with 2019 views | blobby2 | The sex pistols played there to a very small crowd. I wasnt into the punk scene but saw many bands on a Sunday night in Dora's. Nazareth, The Pretty Things, Man, Focus (absolutely jam packed for that one ) Flash, East of Eden, to name a few , never any bother on a band night except for sticky carpets and spew in the bogs, perhaps old Jack had been there !
| on the north bank in 64 currently in 2 seats in the upper east and proudly supporting Wales ONLY premier league team. Prosser is a twonk! |

Yep - saw Focus there and it was rammed. Sunday night, pissing down walking home. Saw Cozy Powell ( fûck all else to do on a Sunday night) there. Small crowd and some rugby types in blazers turned a up and were spoiling for a fight, A few of us who were applauding wildly to wind them up were invited backstage for spliffs and beers and Cozy , Dave Ball ( guitar player , big unit) and a couple of roadies came out front with us and the blazers thought discretion was the better part of valour and fûcked off sharpish. Cracking night 😂

Probably was, but I'm referring to Southern death cult 👠The cult formed around 1983? I don't know not my bag. But SDC first show was way way before that. Anyway anyone who thinks the pistols played in Swansea is very VERY wrong even when they toured as SPOTS. It could become a debate, but I'm very sure... Taff?

The Troubador is defo still there, but I am pretty sure I read it was now being used as storage for the shopping centre. I was too young to go there when it was at its peak, but the Thursday nights were legendary. One of my mates used to recount tales of the punk bands playing there and it was amazing. After the Troubador it became Raffles and Wall Street, by this time I was old enough to get in and they always had local bands playing on Friday nights. Great times.

Absolutely stank in there in the early 90's. A mixture of feet and poppers.
