I believe that it has yet to be decided if Bolton should be docked points for failing to fulfil their fixtures.
In the eventuality that they are docked points, do you think Liverpool should suffer the same punishment for not completing the quarter final cup match.
Quandary ?
They have a first team squad of over 30 players plus a load of young ‘ins.

No comparison between the two circumstances........

Yes United were asked topull out of the FA cup in order to participate in that FiFA extravaganza in Brazil....pampering to the wishes of FIFA in hope that it would get us the world cup.

We all know how that turned out.

Assume that there will be a further punishment for missing both the fixtures they chose not to fulfil but any further deductions this season may be seen as irrelevant because barring a miracle they will be relegated. Therefore it may be that another points deduction could be applied for next season

Disagree Suddenlad. The comparison is in integrity. If Liverpool did not want to compete in this competition, then they should have made that known at the onset. They should not have gone so far and then start complaining about being successful. Complaining is not the answer. They have to fulfil their obligations otherwise it is insulting to the other teams who take part in competitions good faith.
Liverpool is a successful club and have finances to create a squad in excess of 30 players of international quality. Majority of those players turn out infrequently complaining of bench time and lack of game time. Liverpool can afford to pay them each week, more than you and I earn in years.
This is why the so called “big” clubs have big squads.
They should use those players to fulfil the obligations without complaining.
They are fit young men and most do nowt.
Integrity is sadly lacking in favour of the lure of gold.
Bolton players got nowt and were punished. Liverpool get everything and get off

They haven't 'not' played it yet and chances are it (the Villa game) will take place in the New Year and the semi-final will be put back a week or two.

It's a completely different situation to Bolton and in a different competition, as Liverpool couldn't predict at the onset if they would progress or not.

Bolton chose not to fulfill games they knew about months in advance.

Also, Bolton's situation has also partly come about because of wages they spent on the likes of Anelka, Hierro, Campo, JJ Okocha, etc, while trying to compete with clubs like Liverpool.

They should have cut their cloth more accordingly back then in anticipation that one day they would be relegated from the Premier League.

Probably a bit strong to suggest that Liverpool have 30 players of International standard.Yes they have a big squad of players but are likely to take 20 plus players to the tournament abroad which would leave very much the bare bones of youth team players left behind to play Villa(noting that a probable similar squad got beaten 5-2 by Accrington this week) which hardly seems right and fair to punish success.

Liverpool should definitely be kicked out of the next two or possibly 3 years League cup . They are a very selfish club who feel that have god given rights to do as they like ....
Punish them severely . it will make others think twice before deciding to treat domestic competitions with contempt.
As for Notlob , its not a question of IF , but surely when and how many points they are deducted.
Shame we didnt get to play them at the beginning to smash 6 past them , still a good win at the very nice League 2 stadium.

I'm not sure if some have misunderstood the situation, but Liverpool aren't refusing to play in the League Cup due to simply having too many fixtures - the quarter final is scheduled for when they are actually in Qatar for the World Club Cup (whatever it's called).

For someone to suggest 'Liverpool think they can do what they like' or along those lines is very silly. Clearly, a team winning the Champions League, being asked to compete in the World Club Cup AND reaching the League Cup QF, which just happens to take place at the same time, is a rarity and not something which could have been accounted for.

As Jürgen Klopp has said, a squad can't simply divide in two and play different completions on the same day. Nobody on here would expect Dale to do that so not sure why it's any different

Exactly, and well put.

From what I can tell, they want to play it. They just happen to be a few thousand miles away on a different continent when it's currently due to be played.
