Emiliano Sala 'exposed to carbon monoxide in plane crash'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-49345186

Footballer Emiliano Sala, who died in a plane crash over the English Channel, had been exposed to high levels of carbon monoxide, a report has revealed.

Sala and pilot David Ibbotson crashed on 21 January when travelling to Cardiff from the French city of Nantes.

Toxicology tests on Sala's body showed CO levels in his blood were so great it could have caused a seizure, unconsciousness or a heart attack.

Mr Ibbotson, from Crowle, North Lincolnshire, has still not been found.

But it is likely he would also have been exposed to carbon monoxide, the Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB) report said.

Geraint Herbert, head of air accidents for the AAIB, said it is believed both men were exposed to the gas before the plane crashed.

"Symptoms at low exposure levels [to carbon monoxide] can be drowsiness and dizziness, but as the exposure level increases it can lead to unconsciousness and death," he added.

"The investigation continues to look into a wide range of areas in relation to this accident, but in particular we are looking at the potential ways in which carbon monoxide can enter the cabin in this type of aircraft."

Daily Telegraph
Cardiff City failed to convince FIFA to hold Nantes "liable" over the death of Emiliano Sala and could now face a three-window transfer ban if they continue to refuse to pay the fee for the late striker.

We know what FIFA decided about this some time ago. Cardiff have appealed to the court of arbitration for sport and it's their decision that matters next.

Just pay up innit!?

Scummers always bleat on about how Uncle Vinny is such a bigshot billionaire like the Man City owners. If it was Man City in this situation instead of Cardiff would've payed up, given Sala's family a lump some and saved that Argentinian club from going under all for PR purposes.

So youre saying if cardiff agreed the sale of a player to swansea.

Then cardiff ask john the raging alcoholic with a gambling problem to act as the agent.

You'd be fine with that and whatever happened after the fee was agreed would not matter

Nantes asked this extremely shady agent to work for them and here we are.

He is dead because he did not take the flight cardiff offered. That is the end of it.

Cardiff have done nothing wrong. Nantes hired that agent. That is how cardiff city see it.

I'll say it again. Nantes employed Mckay to complete the sale which he did. He wasn't paid by Nantes to make travel arrangements as that is not their responsibility. Now if Cardiff offered a commercial flight and it was declined, then they should have made damn sure that they knew what plans had been made and whether these arrangements were safe.

Basically there was a legal contract in place for Cardiff to pay Nantes and that is the end of the matter. They need to pay up.

Tan can then sue the agent and Nantes although it is highly unlikely he will win. Once the contract was completed Sala was a Cardiff player so Nantes had nothing to do with it.

As far as Mckay booking the flight is concerned he has booked such flights on numerous occasions including flying Warnock out to watch Sala. He wasn't to know the pilot booked originally was going to sub let it so there was no negligence. The guy originally booked as the pilot was a world leader in this type of flight even flying across the Atlantic.

If there is negligence in this case it lies with the owners of the plane not Nantes or McKay as it appears from reports the plane had mechanical defects.

Many Cardiff fans criticise the type of plane used but Boeing 737max planes have also crashed and Sala could also have been killed in a car accident in France on his way to the airport

I originally did always say pay it as did most cardiff fans I think. But many got defensive when their club got teared in to, as many fans do.

Nantes used an agent in January that is now on trial for fraud through his bankruptcy

Cardiff will be made to pay because the contract was signed, not because they are at fault

As mckay wrote to sala:

"We approached Nantes as we do for many players at other clubs to get the authority to sell we don’t try and cross the players agent, some are very happy to work with us some get very jealous and protective.

With all the shit they say like (he is like a brother to me) (he is like my son) in reality, if you were not a footballer these people don’t care about you the only care about money is the truth.

Because that’s all we care about, that’s why we like to work for clubs, no emotion, simple buisness, that’s it! "

as you say you originally said pay and in fairness Annis Abraham says he same. There clearly was a contract and Nantes have acted correctly as has Mckay. Whatever anybody's view on him and his own financial affairs he has acted as a broker for French clubs for several years including deals with us. He has along history of friendship with Warnock before and since he joined your club.

There are 2 basic issues. One is Tan despises agents going back to Malky days and will do anything to take on an agent whatever the cost. The second is that they are looking to lay blame to avoid payment and Tan isnt the type to back down.

In reality what happened is an accident which Cardiff, Nantes or McKay were not at fault. People blame the use of private planes but it is quite often used by sportsmen or businessmen to make travel easier. Note the tragedy regarding the Leicester owner.

Unfortunately since the tragedy with Sala your club's behaviour has been very poor as they have looked to take any action to prevent making payment.

Not really, tis to be expected.

CAS appeal will be key.

Either way, not going to end well. Suspect insurance will be invalidated by the flight he took, so would be legal action against McKay and/or Nantes to recover the money.
