New goal kick rule in action on 12:01 - Jul 31 by PinnerPaul
I did earlier in the summer, but will have another go
1) Players being subbed can be made to leave by nearest touchline 2) GKs and FKs in the pen area are in play as soon as kicked. EG Can be played again inside area 3) Drop balls go to side who had the ball when play stopped - none of this I'll kick it back nonsense 4) Ball hits ref and changes possession its a drop ball back to team who kicked the ball 5) Handball - attackers - its handball if they gain an advantage from ball hitting them - doesn't have to be deliberate. Defenders - its complicated but anything that makes body unnaturally bigger is handball. Of course, if deliberate its still handball whatever 6) No attackers in wall of 3 or more - have to be 1m away 7) Team who wins toss can kick off or choose ends
More technical and or obscure changes that will never turn up and praise be offside has been left alone!
IFAB website has all the changes and a PDF of the laws for the really committed!
Forgot one!
Managers/coaches can be shown red/yellow cards

Blimey! I've been watching football since 1966, played for about 20 yrs, did my level 3 referee around 1982 and officiated for a couple of years whilst always believing it was what they have just announced.
Seems I missed the old rule out when reading the rules or maybe I was about 50 years ahead of my time! Lol

Has there been any pronouncement on the long-standing problem at corner-kicks, when defenders hold attackers? In principle, referees can simply award a penalty, but most of those offences seemed to be over-looked.

That's the fault of the refs not the laws.

I'm the same as you fb.
Watching football since the mid/late '50's, played adult football from 1967 till 1997 & passed the referees exam twice.
I'm even sure I've seen teams choose to kick off after winning the toss!
Perhaps that used to be the case & they changed it at some point?

You're not alone, LAST season at least half a dozen captions said 'We'll kick off' after winning the toss!
Only done 2 games so far and its 1-1 Kick v ends!
