Autophagy is an important process in cellular regulation including but not restricted to controlled induction of cell death. This can include but is far from exclusive to regulation of transformed or cancerous cells. Autophagy is not some miraculous cancer cure that can be induced by fasting as other components within the cell cycle are often defective in cancers. Cancers are largely diseases of ageing when regulation of the cell cycle breaks down. There are of course childhood cancers. The mechanism of cause or aetiology of many cancers are Poorly understood though involve genetics, environment including diet and potentially infection. In my area of work autophagy is an important mechanism in the immmune control of intracellular bacterial infections -most notably TB.
He must of had some underlying medical problem then.
All the results came back fine, they never had a problem now since going back to eating everyday. They told that person their body is triggering the fight or flight response too much when fasting all the time.
