Tony Fernandes podcast on 14:05 - May 1 by Northernr | Surprised there's so much (any) animosity towards Warnock to be honest. Man's a fcking hero in my eyes for what he did first time around. Remember the absolute catastrophe he took over, with Hart and then Harford losing 1-0 at Peterborough and at home to Scunthorpe. We replaced all the pics in our match reports with shots of clowns. We were circling the drain. More loan players than we could actually pick. Priskin and Bent up front. Even if he'd spent fck loads of money to get us from that to the absolute dominant force we were the following season in such a small amount of time was remarkable. He gave us Hill, Derry, Mackie and Kenny who were cult heroes. He made a title winning defence out of Gorkss and Connolly. We had Kyle fcking Walker for a bit! He got consiency out of Taarabt, Faurlin grew into a Premier League player, Helguson revitalised, Routledge... My God what a team, what a year. The absolute best, after 15 years away, going back in that style, despite everything that went against us with the Faurlin thing. A brilliant, brilliant job that should never ever be forgotten and frankly is being rather glossed over on this thread as some sort of luck or fluke or not that important. Did he make mistakes when the money arrived that summer? Yes of course. Barton, SWP in particular, not only because they were cnts but because they took the dressing room away from him. Admits as much in his book. Had he had money from the start when he wanted Routledge, Naughton, Williams etc would it have been different? Maybe, and he was shopping late in a window in a desperate situation, but he got it wrong. Should we have sacked him? Easy to say no with hindsight because it's the correct answer but there was a lot of ill-feeling around that MK game and it was felt the dressing room had split - which it had, because of St Joey et al. As said though he won three away games at Everton, Wolves and Stoke, which is three more than Hughes ever managed and one more than Redknapp. Without them we'd have gone down. Should we have re-appointed him instead of JFH? Total non-question for me. As Fernandes has one again pointed out here, Warnock told him he didn't want it because his wife was ill. I thought at the time and still think he was actually sniffing round Ferdinand's role. Spoke with les about this the other week and he laughed at the idea that he wouldn't have let Warnock carry on until at least the end of the season given the chance - why wouldn't he? It would either go brilliantly and he'd stay or it would give him a full season to make a proper, considered appointment. Overall, fantastic manager for us, gave me the best year of my life. |
its a QPR thing Clive we treat some of heros like sh1t down here Marsh was slagged off a ton and people took Bartons side during there spat Bowles being a coke head Some of the stuff written on Wilkins Gerry being a cnt because he closed the academy when we were skint and going into admin Holloway being called hollowhead Warnock being a loser because we wasn't romping the premier league in the first 3 months of the season Adel being a fat waster Bircham a crap assistant our fan base is embarrassing at times

Tony Fernandes podcast on 14:07 - May 1 by Northernr | That's bolox. We were excellent at Stoke, Wolves, Newcastle H, Chelsea H, City H. Had a bad December, but one good performance is bolox. |
I already mentioned the good performances as I saw them, and there were some, but??? It is also a fact that no-one is disputing the promotion seasons value as entertainment, it was magnificent at times. It is the following season that fell on it's arse... big time, for many reasons which have already been outlined. He'd lost it by the time he was sacked.

Tony Fernandes podcast on 14:36 - May 1 by paulparker | Get it into your skull that Warnock in 2010/11 and Warnock in 2011/12 were two very different animals. In 2011, Warnock finished up with 1.91 points per game. In 2012 he'd got 0.85 points per game, was 17th and still trending down. There was nothing wrong with Fernandes saying "last year you were great, this year you are terrible; you're clearly not up to this so thanks and see you 'round!" are you really that backwards or just a complete fcukwit ??? , you do realise that the Warnock team of 2010/2011 was a championship season and the Warnock team of 2012 was a premier one ??? , what did you expect Warnock to achieve in our first season back in the richest league in the world in 15 years, top 5 playing Pep inspired tikka takka ?? go back to bed your embarrassing yourself |
Finally, he figures it out!...Wait, has he figured it out?...Nah, probably not! You're the idiot who wants to lump all of Warnock's stats together to make it less embarrassing. No team in Premier League history has survived with the points average Warnock had got. His Premier season was going really badly so Fernandes sacked him. That's all. You're the only one who can't see this.

Listen Bellend I haven't lumped any of Warnock stats together the other div is talking 2 different leagues FFS and even if I did what's embarrassing about Warnock's first go of it in the EPL , Nothing !! what was you expecting that we would be sitting in the top half of the Prem having blown half the league away with our dazzling displays , yeah the league was going so badly we beat Everton , Chelsea, Stoke , Wolves , gave City a game and should have beaten Villa, wba & Newcastle and threw away a point at Arsenal , terrible stuff what an utter d1ckhead you are

Tony Fernandes podcast on 16:01 - May 1 with 2943 views | CroydonCaptJack | I think it is fair to say Warnock was sacked too early. We were in a little bad spell but surely he had some credit left after the great promotion season. I felt the same about Ranieri after the amazing achievement at Leicester. Tony Fernandes podcast on 09:05 - May 1 by isawqpratwcity | We were doing a pretty good job of regressing a fair bit before the day he was sacked. Do you want the list again of the five toss-pots he spunked Uncle Tone's cash on ? Joey Barton Luke Young Armand Traoré Shaun Wright-Phillips Anton Ferdinand Impressive, huh? Every one a coconut! And paying them sixty large when Taarabt was probably only on 20k was the hand grenade that splattered the dressing room. First game after he left was started from the comfort of the relegation zone. Yeah, we've got a lot to thank him for, good and bad. And don't tell us who the real QPR fans are, you opinionated little git. Practice what you preach and go fcuk yourself. |
in Warnocks defence, don't forget thanks to Flavio he only got the money just before the end of the deadline when they were the only players left. We'd have had little chance if he hadn't made a few signings. It was panic buy time.

Tony Fernandes podcast on 14:29 - May 1 by FDC | Yeah his "I honestly didn't know that some people would be happy to take my money and not put a shift in, what a world we live in" shtick is really irritating. Like, which world did you live in before? Trying to say you got done over because you're unbelievably naive and innocent is not a good look for anyone, least of all someone with the responsibility of running a football club. |
Absolutely, its no defence to say he was naive and innocent to it all, thats complete bollox. He simply made terrible decisions based on no previous knowledge of running a football club. Stupid, yes , naive, no. The other thing that grates is as Simmo already mentions, his comparisons to running an airline company with running QPR..They are completely different businesses. He loves the limelight and if he continues to be happy to be the face of the board then unfortunately for him he's going to kop the flak as well. I think he is more aware that fans are justifiably P'd off with him. He jokingly mentioned being strung up on the pitch by the fans or words to that effect. The stuff his kopping on twitter is definitely hurting and it will continue if he stays on twitter and success at Rangers doesnt happen. He's the one whose raised everyone's expectations and he simply hasn't delivered yet. On the other matter being "discussed" .. Warnock was ace and sacked way too early.

Tony Fernandes podcast on 09:44 - May 1 by ingeminate | That list of players is poor, but here were mitigating circumstances, Tango and Cash left Warnock in the lurch. He had virtually no time to properly scout players, no idea of what sort of budget he would have and really had to take a punt on whoever he could get in at short notice. Easy to be wise after the event but everyone thought signing SWP was an unbelievable coup and there were not that many dissenting voices about Barton either. He might have made all the same signings with proper time to plan, but it's a bit unfair to assume he definitely would have done. |
Speak for yourself. I most certainly did not think that signing SWP was an unbelievable coup and was very vocal against signing both him and Barton.

Ditto. An inspired appointment by Amit, Warnock performed miracles to take us from also-rans to a championship winning side. That campaign earned him the right to at least 1 season in charge in the Premier League and he was sacked too early by a chairman who was clearly wet behind the ears.
Tony Fernandes podcast on 20:53 - May 1 with 2682 views | PlanetHonneywood | Three things come to mind. 1. I’ve long since wondered whether Ollie’s mental health is best served as a manager of a football team at this stage of his life? Got us over a hump, but he’s looked haunted at times. Next season is going to be ‘challenging’ because of factors not of his making; I wonder if he needs the hassle and if he doesn’t, then now is a good time to leave. 2. Ive also thought the forthcoming season is going to be the real hurdle. We know we’re losing some; that some will also have to go and we’ve no idea what the team will look like once the TW slams shut. That must be a bloody hard thing to contend with, and will only add to the pressure. Again, does he need it? 3. I’ve not listened to the pod - the sight and sound of Tony still boils my piss - but did he need to make these comments? They are maybe out of context of course or unfairly ceased upon, but they seem to have brought unnecessary attention and again, made the difficult waters we’ve to sail through seem a bit more choppier as a result. Some times saying nothing is the better policy; which by now you’d have hoped would have been one of the many lessons he’d have learned. I love Ollie. Was surprised he came back and while more open to it than closed at the time, I did write in AKUTRs that as these things rarely end well, I hope the eventual outcome didn’t leave a sour taste for all concerned. Despite some rocky times, and bizarre selection decisions, if he did go now, then for the second time he’d do so having left us better off than he found us. Which for QPR, is nothing short of glorious compared to other managers we’ve had.

Tony Fernandes podcast on 02:52 - May 2 with 2551 views | timcocking | I think you guys were a little harsh actually. We all know what happened with Warnock, Hughes etc., that's years ago. There's only so many times a guy can say "sorry, i made mistakes." His mistake was following advice of people who were supposed to advise him. I'd have preferred much more time spent on the situation now. So much dwelling on past mistakes and very little emphasis by you guys about how many things have been turned around or improved. Also i didn't like the comment "but that doesn't excuse it if the rules were there" about the ffp fine, because those rules were/are bullsh!t and we couldn't possibly have followed them at that time. Tony was completely shafted from the beginning and i've always been a huge fan it genuinely amazes me that almost everybody isn't. I fervently hope he stays with us. Tony if you read this, you are awesome. Most of these people abusing you on twitter are probably Brentford fans or bonafide psychos and weirdos. I'd imagine it's a pretty high percentage who think highly of you. I'm convinced you get a completely skewed opinion of it because of the horrible stuff. But people on any forums communicate aggressively, it's just social media. Look how rude the posters on here can be to each other. Anybody who understands all the facts realises we're lucky to have you. I wish you weren't on twitter. [Post edited 2 May 2018 3:06]

Tony Fernandes podcast on 08:28 - May 1 by paulparker | you are getting these Monotone vibes DD because just like your missus he drones on about the same old , same old , and after a while you switch off to it and ignore it a bit like sitting with the wife when she starts talking about IKEA or putting the bins out instead of playing Carla Delevingne Evening standard bingo on your 6.57 trip into Liverpool street how about playing Tony Fernades bingo Exciting times, New stadium, having the QPR bug, training ground almost approved, fighting FFP , trusting others , we r together , Got my pants pulled down, learning from my mistakes , HOUSE !!!!! also for those slagging Neil Warnock because you didn't get a poxy email or because in your heads it was his time to leave, or the football was sh1te go fcuk yourselves , your not even real QPR fans the man won us a league title in one of the hardest leagues in Europe playing some of the best football we had seen in 20 years , the man is a winner compared to serial loser "uncle tone" and has forgotten more about football than this idiot will ever know he deserved another season at least and ever since that fatal day we sacked him we have regressed |
Ain't that the truth. Why wait 6 years to say why NW was sacked. The club wanted a BIG name. Yet NWs name is one letter bigger than MH. And their CVs are not comparable or ever will be. It was a mistake at the time and still wrinkles with a lot of people obviously. Best manager we've had since Venables.
Tony Fernandes podcast on 09:31 - May 2 with 2438 views | BostonR | A great interview. TF comes across as honest, apologetic, but most importantly he is not walking away. That does not surprise me, given his and the Boards background and ultimately the financial clout they have to make material changes, which they will see through. He has learnt that you need good people to build and sustain your business (even at a football club) so no surprises that everyone at the club has a formal development review - welcome to the real world. On Warnock, I thought he did an amazing job, but for some reason it did not work out. All managers make mistakes, have a huge ego, but in the end the Chairman calls the shots and TF showed him the door - move on.

What scares me is remembering seeing Craig Charles on stage as a performance artist/poet doing street poetry in a John Hegley style and hearing him on a John Peel show doing the same with a funky beat in the background probably around 1984/5 or similar. Actually surprisingly good and was able to deliver some searingly good poetry evoking his experiences as young politically active mixed race lad from Liverpool. Liked him in Red Dwarf too. I just realised I am getting old.
