Snowfall in Leigh On sea currently with less depth than Stan Cummings in his dorothy perkins fishnets doing the limbo, i.e 1/2 an inch, yet my builders can't navigate the seemingly sir john franklin erebus expedition of the flemish cap from basildon to leigh, to stick up a fackin' partition wall and bi fold doors' , because of the snow'.
Most vexing to my spirit as i've taken 3 days off work. Might as well go down the Peterboat for sensibly priced lager by the fishing boats.
it's a shame as I once took leave from fasting and prayer, for about 33 years, to partake of alcohol and Recreational drugs. At 17 Satan did tempt me and bestowed upon me incontinence most high after 3 grams of hurry up and 15 pints of holsten in the coach and horses, Plaistow.
oh wretched man that i am, my strength faileth because of my iniquity; my bones have been consumed by the pleasures of the flesh. I am a broken vessel, Waiting for the Peterboat to open at 11.30am to get on the facking tap.Fackin' Builders.

Crooked Billet all the way mate, failing that and avoiding the walk down to Old Leigh, The Broker
Enjoy fella, not jealous in the slightest!
Love the crooked billet pblock, best snugs in essex with a nice view of the cockle sheds and fishing boats. It's a 5 minute walk max from my front door. The Mayflower is another beautiful little pub in old leigh.
The smack inn let itself down the other day, charged me £13 for a pint of camden lager and a double vodka and diet coke for the lady.. After hyperventilating like ICF Omega man Bill Gardner with a cup of hot bovril in the chicken run, i enquired as to the nature of this excessive charge only to be told that they had used grey goose vodka.
It really irked me, Daft really Considering i pissed up over £150,000 on sensorial coca plant extract in the wilderness years 1989-2006.
ps the broker is indeed a nice old fashioned boozer with an 1980's east ham vibe. Was in there sunday , very cheap an' all. the 1o green bottles bar is a wonderful little secret in leigh . bloody snow, might have to try them all out today!

Pork scratchings and A Couple of pints will be more than enough for this poor old man.
Perhaps Have a moan up With the bar staff about how many times i have to get up to have a piss every night. The Japanese knotweed In the garden. The loose fu cking tile on the porch. Being a fat c unt in my 38 inch waist carhartt jeans. The going rate for a decent plumber who won't swipe the wife's remains of the day knickers that are kickin' up in the laundry basket. QPR getting laced up at home every f ucking week. Go Home. Film. Glass of wine with the wife. John Foxx on the CD. Peter Cook Bio on the armchair. X hamster on the lap top. Ambrosial. Hope it snows for the rest of the week.

Agreed not too bothered by the Smack.
Only been in the Mayflower once or twice but its not bad.
10Green bottles is decent although more than 10people in there and its standing room only.
The Broadway formerly The Carlton could be the best boozer going by a mile if only someone would.put a bit.of cash into.it.
Sarah Moore is a.bog standard run of the mill pub which is alright if desperate
Worst pub is The Mariners Court absolute hole full of absolute tools.
If you like 80's style old fashioned boozer you should take a stroll to Westcliff to The Porters. Blink and you miss it but decent boozer about £3.60 a pint decent people in there mainly guys on he tools and old fellas. Last had a refurb wen the Luftwaffe were in town but not a bad little boozer

Agree with every word mate, the mayflower has won a few beer awards recently, Sarah moore is a big football pub, packed when Man utd play??.
The mariners court is a fermenting piss hole, went their once with my eldest , reminded me of the towie joy divisions that suffuse every strata of life in my old town of brentwood.
will try the porters , i'm going to have a look on the beer in the evening website.
Weather update.. now Looks like the wham 'last christmas' video here in leigh. The poor Mrs went off to work today like she was off to the gulag for sense crimes against the state. i'll be thinking of her in an hour and 15 minutes when i'm necking my first pint by the crooked billet roaring fire!.
don't touch that dial for further updates.

As this has turned into a tourist ad for Leigh on Sea can I ask if there are any decent b&b's? Thinking of using Leigh as a base for when I head to see Canvey Island play.

There aren't many B&B's / Hotels in Leigh itself.
Most of the B&B's are in Westcliff / Thorpe Bay. I know Suenos B&B in Thorpe Bay is meant to be very good, but Thorpe Bay to Leigh is 10-15 mins in the car.
Hotels in Southend. Theres a new one called Seven which has just opened and also The Park Inn which has a Casino attached to it.
Plenty of Premier Inn type places in Southend and Thorpe Bay
If you are looking to stay in Leigh AirBnB might be your bed bet.

damn his tapered jack and jones moleskin jeans, p block beat me to it.
Before me and the mrs moved down here it was Always a case of air bnb. we stayed in this one a couple of times, a 2 minute walk from chalkwell station and a 5 minute walk from leigh on sea broadway. The broker pub around the corner is a must. lovely lady who runs it.
London Overground operating from Shep Bush to Clapham but Southern (I think) cancelled them all due to “forecasted poor weather” which sounds suspiciously like an opportunity to save a few quid and just not bother running any trains. There’s been no snow since a light flurry several hours ago. Cnts.

Story in one of the papers today says under the 'management contract' that Govia has for all the lines round here that they get money from the government when they have to cancel services, so it's actually in their interest not to run them.
If you do end up doing it and want Amy info on boozers places to eat let me know.
Disco - Nice to have another R on the Essex Riviera!
Fully agree with the reviews given on here.. The Porters is round the corner to me and it’s been going years! The Broker is very good and always a first port of call if I’m going Leigh for beers.. Do bouncers still follow people in the toilets at The Mariners? Used to like The Trading Rooms, but that can be a clicky pub also.. All settled in to Leigh life now Dicso?

Enjoying the journey home back to Epsom and was amused to see southern announcement that they will be cancelling trains in the morning. Silly me thinking they were operating a year round travel operation. Beast from the east my arrss, it’s called winter and happens every fking year around the same time. Is it beyond the wit of man to respond and design an appropriate train service.
Never knowingly understood

Just pulled out of Waterloo a mere 10 minutes late which is amazing, seriously top notch. Not a flake of snow on the Surrey / Hampshire borders as yes but under this rickety folding seat I have my laptop just in case the beast bears South tomorrow and I'm forced to reside in chez SF putting together 'slips' soundtracked with locust abortion technician by the Butthole Surfers.

I find myself extremely disturbed by the original post. There is no place in a civilized society for bi-fold doors.
Whats wrong with bi folds ? Pocket doors is an alternative although more costly to build. They're a pain in the arse to fit. Doors on parliament hinges would be my personal preference as they allow the door to fold back on itself allowing to keep the open plan feel if the mood takes . I think bi-folds work well if the fittings are quality and run smoothly. Depends on the room and wallet size i guess.
