Has anyone on here seen or heard anything about our apparent interest in Exeter City winger/forward David Wheeler? I've seen it rumoured elsewhere but cant see anything on here??
The OP made me think of the donkey that is/was at Bolton. Makes Baptiste look like a class act.

Find me on twitter @derbyhoop and now on Bluesky
If this happens I can see Ngbakoto making a French move on Thursday. He doesn't really get in the team as it is and now here's another player, who presumably Ollie has had some say in choosing, who plays a similar role.
Remember thinking he looked good in the playoff games last season. Clever right footed right winger with a good shot on him (and according a quick look at an Exeter forum - a Gareth Ainsworth-esque aerial ability).
Is he being lined up as back up for Wszolek in the RWB role? Or is he going to be played more centrally?
Would be disappointed if this was the end of Yeni. Just the 13 starts in a very difficult first year here strikes me as a little premature to get rid. Yes he's tactically/defensively very raw but there's a pacy, dangerous player in there with a ferocious shot and I really think he's worth persevering with.

Clive, I'm really not having a a dig at Wheeler before he's even signed, but if he's similar to Yeni, who Olly never really seemed to know where to play, I'm struggling to see the point?
I think it's more to do with Yeni not understanding his role !! Wheeler seems very popular with Exeter fans. Supposed to be very strong in the air as well as pacy. It seems he has a bit of an injury record and suffers with asthma. They don't seem happy to sell but wish him well.

The point is he may cost way less than we can sell Yeni for.
Say we sell Yeni for £1m and buy David for £500K. We actually probably make more than £500K profit as the wages will be less as well. Not to mention he will probably be easier to sell David on later. English, on lower wages and probably make a profit on him too.
Also he may actually fit into one or our many formations. This is how we are now, sell high and buy low.
I don't claim to be ITK and don't recall ever seeing Wheeler play in the flesh but my mate is an agent who watches a lot of L2 football and said he's the sort who will do the job at wing-back of just getting up and down the line all day but was amazed a Champ club came in for him.
Just hope it doesn't mean Wzolek is off. Wouldn't be upset to see Yeni go. If this bloke is brought in for his role then it's a switch worth making.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
You're missing the point slightly.
If we buy and sell like for like and make a net profit, fine. But if we have someone who doesn't seem to fit effectively into any of the formations we play - like Yeni - there's not much point in selling him and buying someone similar who also won't fit effectively into of the formations we play.
If we are playing 3-5-2, then by all means sell Yeni and use the funds to find someone who can play right wing back, because we don't have one of those. If Wheeler is a right wing back, great, but all I've seen is that he is a winger/forward.
At 26 years old it's a bit of a stretch to call this fella a "prospect" in my book
Wish him well and hope he kicks on
If it means Yeni goes and by some miracle we end up in profit across the two then I'm all for it. I've questioned a few times if Yeni is actually a footballer. Two decent free kicks does not a career make and I've never seen him show any explosive pace, skill, tackle and he's dogshite in the air. So Wheeler could be a definite improvement!!!
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
Well done Rangers , to get a winger who has banged in 21 goals for 500k is brilliant business , just look around Sone Aloku went to reading for nearly 8 million and he was on a free from wolves last year and only produced 9 goals , Marvin Johnson from oxford is on his way to Boro in a deal worth 3 million , if wheeler fails then 500k is not the end of the world to have spent when you consider them two deals alone , well done to Penrice, Les and whoever scouted him
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Seems a big step up from L2 to championship given we've seen how players have struggled to step up from L1 to championship. I hope its just cover for Wzsolek.
