They did, and possibly wiped out several civilisations, according to their history. Does not negate that they were initially there before though. I would say they are the oldest surviving race /religion born of the area.
No, I agree, other countries are generally agreed on by international convention these days, something Israel was. I also agree that countries should not be formed on the basis of religious grounds, why I would have opposed both Israel's formation, and Pakistan's, if I were around during those times. I wasn't, countries were created, and can only accept they are countries as recognised by international convention. Like I said , it's all about where your focus on history starts.
Israel is an agressive state, amongst aggressive states. They are guilty of attrocities, both historic and current, but so are their neighbours. Palestine is no choirboy here. For many years before, and even current climate (although less so now as most were run off /killed years ago), the regional occupants ran off people of other faiths by scare tactics, outright murder, torture, and subjugation by extreme religious taxing. The area has always had issues with caste systems. The same issues aimed at Israel, only been going on historically longer.
The whole region is a basket case, and generally has been for a very long time. Israel is responsible for some gross attrocities to its neighbours, as Palestine has to Israel (but even more so to its own inhabitants). Both have their evils, and neither are innocent in this. Also, it's the governing bodies, and not the general populace, I am talking about there. Most just want to get on with their lives I imagine, and go to see things like music events without religious politics dominating their lives.
