Flitcroft will fit right in, another club who can't budget.

Flitcroft to be new Swindon manager on 21:09 - Jun 5 with 6161 views | ColDale | If Flicker can identify where he went wrong at Bury and Barnsley, there's no reason why he can't make a decent career as a manager. Being a kid in a sweet shop doesn't work for him, he's so much better when he's forced to work with what he's got. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Absolutely agree. It all went wrong with him at bury when he started to have too much cash to spend.

It went wrong when Plan A failed - which was in November in his first two full seasons, usually because of injury, and in October last year. Every year a shock to the system triggered an implosion into the trap of panic loan signings to cover the growing injury crisis - the 5-0 pasting at Shrewsbury in League Two, the 2-1 defeat at Bradford ending the 9 month unbeaten away record leading to about 3 points from 15 away games thereafter (all at Oldham) and then last season losing the top of the table game to Scunthorpe - Flicker could never get over these things quickly psychologically.. First time round he found a new formula by doing that and it worked and got us promoted, second time it took longer but he kept us up comfortably enough, you don't get a third crack at covering over the same mistakes in football these days. I hope he makes a go of it at Swindon - personally I remember the guy whose side were so lethal in the run in of 2015 rather than that awful last 2 months. Good luck to him.
Flitcroft to be new Swindon manager on 14:19 - Jun 6 with 5477 views | TomRAFC | Flicker seems to find a style that works but as soon as there is even a slight wobble it goes out the window and things go downhill from there (no Hill pun intended). I'd like to see the guy do well but he may just be one of the many people in the game who are damn good assistant managers who can't cut it in the very different roll of manager.

Flitcroft to be new Swindon manager on 17:19 - Jun 6 with 5320 views | NorthernDale | I would like Flitcroft to do well due to his connection to the Dale, but in truth whoever manages Swindon, should get them back up from league two. They may be like Doncaster in that the squad they had or retained from last season will be far better then the average league two team. This may also apply to Chesterfield as well, in that they have signed decent league one players. rather then bog standard league two players.

Perhaps he had to do a Powerpoint presentation, on Swindon's five year project? Even better if he had to sing it... But if he's a winger he could just wing it

Flitcroft to be new Swindon manager on 12:05 - Jun 23 with 4495 views | RAFCBLUE | He does still have the weakness of having Ben Futcher still as his assistant manager. Give it until November before one of the Swindon players complains of mistreatment.
