New kits around the world 2017/18 18:13 - Apr 27 with 61614 views442Dale

It's been surprisingly quiet on the new shirts from so far, but they should start appearing more regularly now.

Liverpool

Similar to the classic strip from the 70s/early 80s (see below), which is good, however it's let down slightly by the red trim in the collar and the New Balance logo not being in gold like the badge. Verdict: 7/10, always a fan of kits which reflect those used in the past.

Edit: With shorts and socks:

0.5 off the Verdict score for having white turnovers on the socks, especially with the shorts being so plain. Jarring.

Anyone know of any others? Stick them here.

That West shirt looks fine... until you realise what it's like on the back. Rarely has the kit world seen such an horrific trend as this move towards 'plain' backs on shirts. The 'blank patch' (as seen on our current away shirt) was an unwelcome yet understandable shift as there became a sudden necessity to make numbers more identifiable. However, this was only acceptable when stripes were retained above and below the blankness; getting rid of them totally and having a totally plain reverse on the shirts of clubs who should be in stripes keeps me awake at night.
Verdict: 2/10, even the plain arms in the same colour as the back are offensive in this situation. And what's the red Adidas logo on the shirt all about when that colour isn't used elsewhere? The lack of attention to such details in a world where details matter is baffling.

Keep it quiet, but I quite like the Inter one. Yeah it isn't traditional, but it's something different that achieves what it set out to. I'd go as far to say a similar design would work for our home shirt with the proviso that the sleeves are blue and thus that becomes the predominant colour (this theory is something else that is criminally overlooked - see our 13/14 promotion shirt: the thiner stripes weren't great but they'd have looked much better on a shirt that had blue sleeves)
Verdict: 7/10, stripes can be different. Even West Brom can get away with it, they didn't have plain backs in 1993...

Not bothering reviewing that Puma template anymore. That should really irritate them. Lazy gets.

That new Inter shirt can be our shirt next season. Better to have a year old Nike shirt than a shitty year old Errea one.

While I might not have used the same terminology, there would be little doubt which design would sell more.

A lot of St J fans saying the kit looks like something Millwall would've thrown out in the 80s.

City: much better than this year but that token gesture with the maroon stripe on the socks shouts some Nike idiot thinking "that'll do, I was told to include maroon and it doesn't have to actually look good."
Verdict: 6/10, yawn. At least pretend to make an effort.

Ipswich away: they've combined it with black shorts, so although it's a catalogue template strip it's at least a nod to the past.
Verdict: 7/10, bring back Eric Gates.

Yeovil: unsure at the moment. It's a different interpretation on hoops that might sell quite well. Hmmm.
Verdict: 7/10, for now. Might think it's a 2 tomorrow.

Southampton: Tremendous. Exhilarating. It's 1982 all over again. Look at the detailing on the cuffs and the black trim to seperate red from white.
Verdict: 10/10. See below and you'll think it's even better.

Ive just seen the prices for Citys new kit and im gobsmacked!!!
£31.14 for a pair of 'MATCH' socks which look exactly the same as the 'STADIUM' socks next to them at £19.46.

The way the white patch finishes so abruptly at the top of Southampton's shirt makes it look like a tuxedo. Other than that though I love it, probably the best new kit of the thread.

Southampton's leaked away kit is a stunner looks very similar to our third kit.

It needs a black V-neck for full marks.

They should have gone the whole way and had a version of the 80s away kit too. Sales would have gone through the roof.

re. TVOS's point: it's a good one. Drop it to a 9.5. Strange they didn't have black.

Maybe Ward-Prowse voted for it.

Liverpool away: that's smart. Especially when seen as a whole kit and combined with black shorts. It's a nod to previous strips too albeit with a different slant when forming the quarters.
Verdict: 8/10. Bristol Rovers could do that with their quarters sometime as it must be difficult to come up with different variations.

Cambridge: a Puma kit I actually like and in a design you could see working for us with blue replacing amber.
Verdict: 8/10, proper turnover on the socks too. Never underestimate that.

Luton: two more Puma kits I couldn't care less about. The away one looks like a Nike shirt.
Verdicts: away 2/10; third 5/10, at least the shadow hoops are different but that sleeve stripe is really boring now.

Cefn Druids join the illustrious group wearing our home kit template, while at the same time having a black and white version of our 'poppy kit'

Some verdicts:
Crewe H: 7/10. Liking the horizontal shadow stripes
Crewe A: 4/10. At least put some effort in.
Juve: 9/10. Very, very similar to the Newcastle 95/96 shirt which was a classic.
Walsall H: 6/10, that better not have a black side stripe as well..., still very similar to Cefn Druids.
Walsall A: 5/10, looks like a t-shirt. And not a very good one.
Bradford: 8/10, another really good shirt. Unfortunately they've not combined it with black shorts this time.

I quite like Walsall's, home and away.

I don't know which valley Cefn Druids reside in but that home shirt is glorious.

Crewe lose points for having their home shirt modelled on someone with a beer belly.

Juventus' home shirt is the second best of today's offerings, but has a weird collar.
