Dale v Charlton on 16:49 - Feb 18 by 442Dale | You'll have to wait a long time to see a worse defensive display than that of Canavan's today. |
Just Canavan? Team as a whole was poor when defending set pieces today. Keeper to blame for last goal, nothing wrong with Canavan's header back, poor communication from Wilson Also both of Teixeira's goals were from Bauer knock downs. Calvin put every last drop of effort into today but Bauer was his man. It seems some players (Logan, Canavan) ar e not particularly favoured, but others (including the referee) are not and shouldnt be singled out for critcism. [Post edited 18 Feb 2017 17:17]

Disagree, the header was awful and nowhere near where any sensible keeper would be.

Dale v Charlton on 17:04 - Feb 18 by DaleFan7 | Fair result on the balance of the 90 mins imo. |
True, but basic defending cost us. Not sure whether Taylor is injured or out of favour but Kitching isn't ready for a sustained run of games yet, he looks unsure far too often. It's staggering that Canavan is back in the side and hasn't improved one bit, his distribution puts us under pressure and he looks cumbersome with his defending. While McNulty wasn't in the greatest form, we'd kept a clean sheet and he was then dropped. Fully expect this to be changed back again next week. NML looked dangerous when he came on and Calvin was immense all over the pitch (though he seemed to blame himself for one of the free headers) so there's definite signs we can come through this bad patch. Great to see players back in their most effective positions too.

The keeper was too far to the left. It was a crossfield ball and Wilson moved as if Canavan wasnt going to change the angle of the pass. Fair enough if the ball was straight but it came from their left. Also no shout from Wilson to leave etc
Dale v Charlton on 17:22 - Feb 18 with 2161 views | Shun | Realistically this game should've been over at half time, such was our dominance. It was our inability to put away our chances as well as some embarrassing defending that has yet again cost us points. RNL at left back was a woeful decision, he looked completely lost. I'm starting to forget what it feels like to win. Thankfully our rivals all failed to win today because we're in real danger of throwing away our excellent season due to this highly depressing run of form we're in.

McCardle vs Brentford levels of dross? I missed today's game due to wanting to be somewhere warmer, but on twitter and DalePlayer when the wifi worked, we sounded great going forward. Canavan scares me when he tries to do anything more than clear the ball. More than one touch, backpass, run out from defence... just no. Throw your head at a high ball or kick the ball a really long way... yes. He shouldn't really fit in to our way of playing unless we need another defender on to just clear the ball.

Mentioned about Calvin, he may well have lost his man. Canavan hasn't been good enough all season.

No because it's not often both CH are changed at once. That said, there's no issues with McGahey and McNulty together there - they've done well together in the past.

Think the RNL substitution was one borne out of necessity as Kitching was struggling. It really does illustrate what a massive loss Bunney has been.

Not much wrong with our form as such. Charlton are a dangerous outfit and we'd have been swinging from the chandeliers if we'd have kept it at 3-2. A man on the back stick at the corner would've had an easy clearance Overall, there are positive signs and the line up we finished with was just about as attacking as it's possible to get without leaving yourself wide open - it could be argued that we did I suppose, but no problem with going for it at home. Keane was immense and MoM (Calvin a close second), it's like having two defenders in one which we need at times when his CB partner isn't able to do the basics Thought Kitching was poor tbh - I hope there's room for improvement when he gets more games under his belt. Looks nothing like 'on the verge of the premier league' and god knows what's happened to Taylor Can't complain about the entertainment value on a pitch that looks to have justified the outlay, just disappointing not to pick up all three points [Post edited 18 Feb 2017 17:46]

Keane was as poor as Canavan for their first goal but for the rest of the match he was the only thing stopping them threading balls through from midfield. If we had a player like Peter Clarke in our defence, we'd be safely in the top six (another clean sheet for Latics today).

Agree we really do miss Bunney and Kitching was definitely struggling a bit. Can't understand why RNL came on though. Would rather have seen McNulty than RNL. With RNL you get what it says on the tin ...... Rubbish Non League quality player. When he inevitably gets released again at the end of the season he will really struggle to find a league club. He probably end up sat at home in Huddersfield then RNL may stand for Retired Near Leeds.

Pretty much agree with that. Didn't see the first charlton goal but the 2nd and 3rd were avoidable, lapses of concentration for the 2nd and poor set piece defence for third. Calvin and most others were pretty awesome today. Canavan does look a liability at times. But overall, you have to be pleased with the way we played, unfortunately we aren't converting that into 3 points. Pleased with how pitch was, I actually thought it would tear, but overall it was very good, certainly better than the previous surface.

Dale v Charlton on 18:02 - Feb 18 with 2602 views | 442Dale | Hill on GMR:very disappointed at the defending from set pieces and mentioned that we didn't win due to individual mistakes, seemed mystified why Canavan did what he did with the header back; didnt have to do it, either let it bounce or head clear. Needed to defend first and second ball better. Talked about Rafferty plugging gaps in midfield and we have to show more defensive discipline.

Dale v Charlton on 18:17 - Feb 18 with 2498 views | TipperaryDale | Why we didn't win today... Niall Canavan. Weak link in a team that played well and should've won easily. Keane, Allen and Camps very good, assured on the ball. Calvin immense. Kitching had a bad game, but we don't have many options there, McNulty wouldn't have been better. Overall a good game, good entertainment and unlucky not to get three points.

Depends how you take the word 'form'. I'd always say it means results, hence things like the form-table. I agree if we're talking about performances - we haven't been playing badly at all generally, but results have been terrible!
Dale v Charlton on 18:25 - Feb 18 with 2430 views | sweetcorn | I think we should go with keane mcgahey centre back pairing, definitely our best two in my opinion.. NML should be starting ahead of thompson all day, looked far more dangerous with a front 3 of henderson NML and calvin.. thompson is genuinely feared to death of the ball, a couple of times today he made mystifyng runs away from the ball. Calvin was exceptional. We miss bunney so much, hes one of our main attacking threats and replacing him with kitchen is like going from a bugatti to a reliant robin, he's not good enough and has a lot of catching up to do to be part of this squad in my opinion. Redshaw looks a shite signing, as he's not even getting on the pitch at a time when we're short of strikers. This season is in serious danger of fizzling out and what a shame that would be..
