The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 02:51 - Sep 8 with 9289 views | jackharris | Match Preview will appear here. When Information is released and the Managers press conferences etc have taken place. Everything will be a day later with the game being on the Sunday. Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC (Sky Sports Super Sunday) Kick Off at 4pm, Sunday September 11th 2016 at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea. Tickets: Ticket Exchange is now in operation, see Swansea City Etickets for purchasing. 2,100 Chelsea fans expected and a big police presence, especially monitoring between the ground and High Street Train Station. Borja Baston Bench? Swansea City record signing Borja Baston is unlikely to be ready to start against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. The the £15m Spanish striker has yet to make his debut for the club because of a thigh injury and manager Francesco Guidolin says the 23-year-old is still getting up to speed."Borja has to go slow for two, three days," Italian Guidolin said. "He's not injured, but he has to go slow. Guidolin added: "I hope to have him available for the bench for Sunday, but I'm not sure at the moment." The Swans boss also suggested 22-year-old defender Alfie Mawson is close to making his first-team bow after joining from Barnsley. "He is a young player, but I like him and I think he is almost ready to play in the Premier League," said Guidolin "I think he will be a good surprise for our fans, for our club." TEAM NEWS New Chelsea signings David Luiz and Marcos Alonso are unlikely to start against Swansea, according to head coach Antonio Conte. Kurt Zouma is not yet ready to return from a knee injury. Swansea's record signing Borja Baston could feature for the first time after overcoming a thigh injury. Fellow new arrival Alfie Mawson is also in the squad, while Welsh full-back Neil Taylor returns from a post-Euro 2016 break. MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES Steve Bower: "Antonio Conte has already won one all-Italian affair away from home. If, like at Walter Mazzarri's Watford, his team can beat Swansea, he'll become only the fourth Chelsea manager to win his first four league games in charge. "That would be an extremely satisfactory start to his campaign following a few frustrations in the transfer market, and all eyes will be on the return of David Luiz at the Liberty Stadium. "Francesco Guidolin looks to avoid three consecutive defeats as Swansea begin the task of upsetting the odds ahead of a daunting run of home fixtures, with Manchester City and Liverpool to follow this one." Twitter: @SteveBowercomm WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidolin on Antonio Conte: "He played with Juventus for 13 years and I managed Vicenza, Udinese and Bologna teams against him. Every year I met him and he almost always won because Juventus had the best squad in Italy, and Serie A was the most important league in that period. "His career as a player was good and now he has a very good career as manager. He is one of the most important managers in Europe." Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte: "We have bought David Luiz because we need a centre-back. In this squad, there were Cahill and Terry, and sometimes we adapt Branislav Ivanovic in this role. But we needed centre-backs so, for that reason, we bought him. "I know David Luiz has played in midfield before but, in my mind now, that is not an idea for us. I think this squad can play 3-4-3, not 3-5-2 like the national team in Italy and Juventus but, because of the characteristics of the players, we can play 3-4-3." LAWRO'S PREDICTION Swansea have lost both games since their opening-day win at Burnley and they barely had a sniff against Leicester. Things will not be any easier for them against Chelsea. The Blues have won three out of three so far and I don't see that sequence stopping against the Swans. Prediction: 0-2 MATCH FACTS. Head-to-head Swansea's 1-0 win in this fixture last season was their first in the Premier League against Chelsea (D3, L6). The Swans have never won consecutive league games against the Blues. Chelsea's 5-0 win at the Liberty Stadium in January 2015 is Swansea's heaviest top-flight home defeat. The Swans have conceded more goals (21) against Chelsea than any other Premier League side. Swansea have lost their last two league matches - they have yet to lose three successive league games under Francesco Guidolin. After failing to score in 11 Premier League games last season, Leroy Fer has scored in two of his three outings this season. Chelsea Antonio Conte could become the fourth Blues manager to win his opening four Premier League matches, joining Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti. Chelsea won their first four league games in all four of their title-winning seasons: 2004-05, 2005-06, 2009-10 and 2014-15. Diego Costa has scored five Premier League goals against Swansea, more than he has managed against any other side. Eden Hazard has scored six goals in his last eight league games, having failed to score in his previous 29. Antonio Conte was unbeaten as a manager against Francesco Guidolin in their Serie A meetings (W6, D1). [Post edited 9 Sep 2016 20:33]

This type of match is a bonus anyway so pressure is off somewhat. We all know that on our day we can beat anyone. The defence is still the great unknown so the rusk for me is silly mistakes. On the other hand out wingers could get more space as Chelsea will come at us unlike the three matches we have had so far. It is going to be tough but we could easily surprise a few. Performance and keeping the score respectable is very important for me.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 10:48 - Sep 8 with 8992 views | KGriz16 | when are people going to start getting off Fer's back? We're three games into a season after a lengthy Summer break. He's probably not at peak fitness, and to put in average performances and still get goals (that won us a game) isn't exactly the end of the World. I'm a bit annoyed coming on here and seeing constant Fer bashing waiting for him to have a bad performance. I think he put in some good performances at the back end of last season, that contributed to our spirt up the table. Give the lad some time. He will put in some average performances over the course of a season and i expect that. Looking at our stats we're creating chances, but not converting them. Stop making Fer the scape goat, the performances will come, I'm sure of it. Time to start supporting the players instead of asking why we didn't sign Joe Allen and start supporting what we've got. We beat Chelsea last year, and I think we would be able to do it again should the team start clicking into gear. I'm looking forward to seeing Baston play (hopefully) and with David Luiz in their defence anything is possible. Come on City!

David Luiz is one of the best centre backs in the world. There is a reason he is constantly hunted by big teams.

I agree he shows far more spirit than Llorente and a few others. However, he does his job in midfield poorly and his current goal scoring run is blinding many to that. Just like when we were collecting the odd win under Garry Monk's initial reign, it blinded people to the obvious failings that were occurring at the time. Leroy Fer with Jack Cork is arguably the weakest our central midfield has looked in our time here in this division. Both stink of expensive Premier League mediocrity.

Yep, if there's one thing I think when I look at Cork and Fer (combined cost under £8M), it's how expensive they were...

Exactly. We paid £8,000,000 for two players who are weaker than the players they were bought to replace. Neither are as good as Joe Allen and Leon Britton when they were occupying those positions. We sold two midfielders (Shelvey + Allen) for ~ £27,000,000 and somehow never improved our central midfield area. It's all well and good championing how Fer only cost a small amount of money but people are using it to justify his mediocre performances. We need quality and we had the opportunity to pay for it and guarantee it.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 15:53 - Sep 8 with 8586 views | TheKirkyLife | I'm glad to see the pointlessly negative posts getting the downvotes they deserve. I'll be the first to admit that Fer is no De Guzman but he's also done nothing but try his best, score goals and thank the Swansea fans for support. For me that is a BIG step up on Shelvey and to be quite frank if one of those 'stray' goals wins us a match (as it did at Burnley) then zero people should complain. Allen has powered Stoke to last place in the table, Borja is yet to even get gametime and the hype around him is unreal. Of course we could have had a better transfer window but start actually supporting your team. Who knows? We might actually win.
The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 16:03 - Sep 8 with 8566 views | Legend83 | Fer obviously has an eye for goal which is more than can be said for many of other past midfielders. So then Guidolin needs to realise his best role is advanced midfield where his positional indiscipline doesn't matter so much. Call me crazy but while Siggy is out of form I am quite content with Leroy keeping the GF tally ticking over - he can pick a pass too.

When will you people realise that just because a few of us criticise the team's performance and the club's decisions, it does not mean we don't support the team? As long as we shout them on at the Liberty and afterwards the criticism is constructive, I see no issue. We lost out on a number of targets this summer which resulted in a sh!t transfer window. We have also had three unconvincing performances (in my opinion) in our first three games, and fans have every right to raise questions and criticisms about such performances. "Borja is yet to even get gametime and the hype around him is unreal" And why is that? Because I fear we will be relying heavily on him for goals this season. Yes, we could win on Sunday, and I hope to god we do, but I do not believe this squad (without Baston) can get us a Top 10 finish, which is what we should be aiming for. Of course, this could have easily been rectified in the transfer window, but we bungled it. [Post edited 8 Sep 2016 16:08]
