As fans, we tend to compare individual players against each other. Managers look at combinations of players and how they impact the team as a whole. It didn't work today (we won but it was fortunate) but Gylfi and Routledge is a combination he likes. I didn't think they were bizarre TBH. Attacking substitution with Gylfi replacing Britton, and Mo wasn't in the second half, whilst Montero was very lively when he replaced him |

I think it was a combination of trying to get the right back a booking as he couldn't deal with Barrow (or Monteros) pace and Routledge being ineffective on the left. Barrow had a decent game but it was the right substitution | | | |

Routledge definitely played better on the right with naughton and montero made the difference for me as his crosses were/are perfect for llorente,he should've scored 1 with a header and we scored off another

Have to disagree, I think Fer had a solid performance Britton is a bit of a stopgap which is good when you're trying to hold on but he opted to push for a goal and we got it through Fer. Routledge looked absolutely terrible all game so I agree, at the time I was thinking the same but Barrow was being fouled constantly and we were getting nothing for it. |  | | |

I know, Dyer suffered that for years.
So if the Ref doesn't protect the player the Manager has to, by sharing out the grief, especially if the player is starting to tire and will therefore get caught more often.
