Best Steak in Swansea 22:46 - Jul 22 with 22575 views | truckjack | Was going to go to the superb Bouchon de Rossi on Saturday, but they're shut until 28th July so would like recommendations for somewhere else, not a pub really, special occasion so cost is not a priority.

Best Steak in Swansea on 15:44 - Jul 26 by londonlisa2001 | Oh good choice. Been there few times (my brother lives in Barnes) - although there are only so many times you can be impressed by seeing Gabby Logan surely ;-) |
Haven't seen La Logan in there. Bryan Ferry, Lawrence Dallaglio, and Lineker are regulars. My mate (who was picking up the tab) asked if the truffles in the risotto were black - you'd think he'd asked if there was dog shit in the tiramisu. "No no no - only the best white truffles from Alba" - he ordered starter portions for him and his wife @ £35 a pop.

Never seen Bryan Ferry around there. Lineker is often in the Sun (Inn rather than rag). Also often see Peter Bowles around Barnes who is always dressed like his character in To the Manor Born. And your mate clearly has more money than sense :-)
Best Steak in Swansea on 17:01 - Jul 26 with 1724 views | perchrockjack | Saw burry port cockles in a jar sold in local home bargains...that s a rather good budget store ,Phil, for poorer persons. Missus bought some Welsh butter too for cake so I lol not be accused of forgetting my humble roots

Find Welsh butter a bit salty for cakes. I wouldn't call it humble though - costs a fortune to buy it up here.

Bit of advice - avoid Hix. I was taken there a coupe of weeks ago on a work thing and God it is overpriced and ordinary. I hate those sorts of places at the best of times, but it was not good. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Best Steak in Swansea on 17:12 - Jul 26 with 1703 views | perchrockjack | Lisa. Cockles are humble but I'm not. Braised beef eh...cheap cut of beef in a fancy sauce. I ll ave it. Does the wern do food prior to game? I m advised eagle in treboeth is good

Wern does rolls and stuff I think although it's a while since we drank in there. Globe does food. Average pub fare, hit and miss. The Eagle is ok. Bit of a trek to the Lib mind if you're going on a match day. Although it's all downhill.

Yep - missus took her nieces there for a birthday and said it was very average (apart from the bill). Treat yourself (or even better, get treated) to L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (next to the criminally overrated, luvvie-infested Ivy). Go for the 3 course lunch with matched wine. Not cheap but it felt like a bargain.

A few weeks ago I had moved my backside to trim my wisteria, and looked up to see the absolute spit of Ralph Fiennes walking past my house (as he looked in the English Patient). I found out from my mate up the road that it's his brother, who apparently lives round the corner (not the one in Shakespeare in Love, but another one who is a writer apparently). Brightened up my afternoon no end...

Sounds good - a few people have said that's brilliant (although you still are in danger of bumping into Biggins I guess if the Ivy is next door).

I know exactly what Truffles are.......If I'm wrong please do enlighten me ?

Now now there's nowt quite like home bargains. Cleaning products and the occasional bargain such as soy sauce dirt cheap. Why pay treble the price... Look after the pennies and all THAT. Phil/Lisa have you tried Santa Maria Del Sur in Battersea. Great little steak house.

No haven't tried that - sounds good though. We've a great steakhouse near us - the Popeseye on Blythe Road (behind Olympia) - unbelievably good. All that they do though is steak and chips, so no good if one of your group doesn't eat steak.

Ambition is critical, Andrew. I used to live in Queenstown Road - pukka Argentinian rib eye and good Malbec. Tidy. Much cheaper than Gaucho too. Popeseye in Putney is great and has the added bonus of not being north of the river...
