Messi on 23:20 - May 7 with 5332 views | AlexF | Best is the best player I've ever seen. I know, I know, scoring records blah blah, which is why its very difficult to compare players from different eras. I wonder what Messi's scoring record would look like playing on muddy ploughed fields against 11 lads not only allowed but positively encouraged to hoof him into row 10 every time he got the ball? George did impossible stuff I've never seen before or since, even by Messi. Both worth the entry fee on their own. :)

Think there are probably people trying to launch him into row 10 every game. However his speed and nimbleness seems to allow him to skip by. Also not one for diving either. Saw Best quite a lot as a young kid but would put Messi, Ronaldo and Maradona all slightly ahead

The standard of player Messi is continually playing against is also a damn site higher than Bests era,ive watched many a recording of games from that time and the keeper was merely a statue many times. As direct comparisons Messi is lightyears better than anything previous | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Messi on 15:35 - May 9 with 5019 views | joecooke | Maradonna is the greatest player i have ever seen,he won the Italian league at its peak with Napoli and the world cup with an average Argentina side. Messi is a great talent but not better than either Pele or Maradonna in my opinion.

Messi on 19:45 - May 9 with 4952 views | frenzied | Messi..for a guy with a growth issue when younger who doesn't look like a footballer in terms of stature etc is a pure joy to watch...Ronaldo is physically more powerful ..I can imagine him at centre half in his later years ,great heading ability and at 33 he will still be quicker than a lot of forwards Both these guys seem to stay injury free despite the extra attention they get from the opposition. Best was wonderful, brave never shirked a tackle in an era where chopper harris ,tommy smith and the Leeds mob were brutal at times. Maradona ...seemed to glide across the pitch at times and like Pele he had great players around him at international level especially. For me the best is Ronaldo
Messi on 20:01 - May 9 with 4928 views | boffley | During the 1966 world cup I had the privilege of watching all the qualifying games at Old Trafford and Goodison. Eusebio for Portugal was on another planet. An absolutely fantastic player who between 1960 and 1975 scored 317 goals in 301 games for Benfica. His international record of 41 goals in 64 internationals wasn't bad either!
