Like monk and what he has done over the years..
But cant help feel we have lost our pass and movement around the pitch.
Yes we needed a plan b under br and ml but now we look clueless at times and the amount off times we give the ball away cheaply is shockin.
As iv said I like monk but feel our passing and patient football has gone backward.
Allso what is going on with Wayne and nathan? Nathan just seams lost and rarley cuts in to get the ball but just holds out wide.Wayne just gives the ball away or loses it time and time again.
I know im going to get some sh, t for this but we have been poor for most the season and its only a handful of games were we realy look good.

He's clearly only posted to knock our club,, there has been plenty of opportunity for him to post support and/or praise of performances, games, tactics, points tally, but surprisingly he hasn't. I don't like that.

I don't think anyone with a modicum of sense can say that our style hasn't changed, it's clear as crystal that it has, but it hasn't been to the detriment of our league position, quite the opposite in fact. We'd all love to watch the balls out attacking football, but we've got to be realistic and cut our cloth to what we've got available, not to mention two of our flair players being bang out of form, and another one injured at the moment. It'll come, i'm sure it will.

Darran is Darran, he's never been too hot on football opinion mun.

More out of context paraphrasing perhaps you would care to point out previous perceived examples.

I always try to deal with facts, differentiate between evidenced fact with sources and personal opinion drawn from those facts. Any statistics I present are taken from recognised sources and calculated not plucked from the air.

In this case it was way back, not long after the sacking. My choice of the words common knowledge (not in quotes) come from a comment from you I think your precise words were everyone knew. I am speaking from memory here but it was definitely something with the meaning of common knowledge.

In fact it was backed up on here by another poster who said from inside knowledge from the club to the same effect they had made money by betting on Laudrup to be the next manager to be sacked.

You had said you knew about it. I challenged you because (in the light of other leaks from the club and Huw saying some of the stuff being said had turned his stomach and Laudrup was the most genuine and honest person you could meet) I said it was totally unprofessional that the club was leaking information like that whan Laudrup did not even know himself (nor perhaps Huw who initially said Laudrup could stay)

I was challenging you as to where you had got this inside information from.

I got the impression you were uncomfortable that you had revealed your hand and been challenged on it.

You responded to me by saying it was common knowledge or words that meant the same.

Actually if my Spratty ID had not been deleted without warning and for no valid reason (co-incidentally? just after you complained to Phil that it was unfair DYSS had been banned but I was allowed to post) it would be easier for me to trace the interchange.

Perhaps you could ask Phil to restore my account and I will happily oblige

Je suis Charlie

The daft thing is that we never had that balls out attacking football under Rodgers or Laudrup either. It's just the blatant revisionism that this forum is famous for that claims we did. One of the main complaints about our first few seasons in the Premier League was that we often played like a dream and came away from games with no points. Now we're able to mix up what we do and if needed grind out results we probably would never have got in previous seasons. 30 points in January is testament to that. But that's not good enough either because we've apparently lost the near mythical champagne football we always used to play. We haven't of course. We've played like a dream in some games this season and a played like a drain in others. Much as we always have previously. We had great times under Rodgers and Laudrup just as we have already and will continue to have under Monk.

This sort of thing just proves continually to me that Monk is on a hiding to nothing with some people and shamefully not all of them are bitter Danes.

A rare cut of sense on this forum for a change.

This place is getting on my f**king tits and it's starting to spoil my enjoyment of the Swans.

We beat arsenal and Man Utd this season yet people complain because our average possession has dropped 4%. How the f**k can people live like that? We could win in the champions league final 3-1 and people would complain about letting the clean sheet slip.

That is a gross and crass exaggeration! We attacked with far more euthless intent under Laudrup in his first season. Tailed off a bit after the cup win but still impressive to attack the likes of Arsenal away as we did.

If anyone needs to let Laudrup go its the Monk nay sayers clogging up the board.

People now only have a dig at Laurdrup to highlight the gross double standards of some of the posters on this forum. The people criticising Monks style because of the slight dip in possession stats cite the Laudrup era as the pinnacle of sporting achievement.

Revisionism rules the roost as people forget that the last 12 months of Laudrup was aimless and lacklustre at best, and relegation fodder at worst. Monk helps us achieve 30 points before January is halfway done and people speak about him with utter contempt, as if he's stripped us of our footballing identity like a pseudo Tony Pulis/Vincent Tan manager figure.

Just ask Roberto how his possession football is going at the minute because if trading some backwards ball for more grit and toughness is the key to success, then I'm all for it. Just argue with our points tally.

I am a Monk fan for what he has done so far, lots to learn but please show me where I have criticised Monk.

some weaker posters feel need to criticise Laudrup at every opportunity, which I think makes them look fools.

When he left , where were we in the league, fa cup, europa blah blah. Despite not having full team behind him.?

Now lets talk facts ..... With thanks to Dav - a picture paints a thousand words

Note where the Brown line under Laudrup plays tight to the normal curve last year despite major key injuries and massively crowded fixture list and certain senior players working against the manager. In addition to this, great run in Europe and beat Manu at theirs for the fist time ever to stay in the FA Cup

drops slightly with difficult games over Christmas / new year (but still only lost 1 point in those first 24 games on like for like games with previous amazing top ten finish - despite for one period being without both strikers)

See after Monk takes over rises for Cardiff win and then drops away markedly even with some much easier games (lost to Brom for instance a team we normally do well against and who were in most the shocking form - not won at home in aeons). Only recovered somewhat with a few late wins but still did not come close to Laudrup's like for like points comparison to previous year even with a fully fit team and a much more spaced fixture list. Also went straight out of FA Cup and Europe.

Yet in that season after Christmas we maintained an almost constant 9th place which we never dropped below. Liverpool were unreachable in 7th once Suarez firing. So I would say we maintained our place fairly constantly

If not for a disallowed good goal away against Brom we would have finished 8th

The only disappointing game was the final match against Fulham - which again if we had won it as we should we would have finished 8th anyway - remember 7th was out of sight

Otherwise the results were fairly as expected given the teams we were playing.

Quite different from the disinterest painted.

Just not true.

when Laudrup took over he was praised for having that direct attacking edge that Bren was deemed to lack (no disrespect to Bren who was brilliant for us). Remember that first game that 5-0 win against a team we had had no luck with before. Stuck me and many others as pretty attacking

Grinding out results - did you miss

Chelsea home and away in the COC - 180 minutes against the champions of Europe and they could not score a single goal against us home or away, yet we put 2 on them at theirs

Arsenal at theirs ground out the majority of the match under the most tremendous pressure without conceding then Michu scored those 2 sublime goals - ecstasy

What spoiled my enjoyment was when a manager who achieved so amazingly and gave us the most brilliant foray into Europe was continuously slagged off and lied about on this forum such that our own chairman who had sacked him issued a statement to say it turned his stomach and should stop and said he was the most genuine and honest person you could meet.

However it did not stop. There is barely a post I have made about Laudrup that is not in response to lies, abuse, negative exaggeration about a manager who gave us our most successful season ever and a fantastic run in Europe which attracted the player to us that we have just sold for a massive profit. I have said little against Monk and always support the team, but this bile against Laudrup has totally divided the fan base and was totally unacceptable. If I said about Monk a fraction of the shocking things that had been said about Laudrup I would be Lynched.

If we had a top ten finish, won a major cup and a great run in Europe I imagine people would complain. Complain they ripped him apart and made us look totally petty and sacked him in the most unprofessional and disrespectful way.

Certainly tarnished the golden year for me and for us as a club.

There was speculation and rumour with his departure which was no different to what happened when Sousa and Jacket left so he was hardly singled out or picked on.

We were noticeably crap for around 12 months and the board took the brave and rare decision to sack a Swansea City manager. A section of supporters are still yet to recover from his dismissal as well as the appointment that they have always disagreed with.

I loved the first 12 months of Laudrup and lamented the second. I wished he'd change it and turn it around but he didn't. He was sacked and Monk was put in charge. I thought we could have appointed someone better than Monk at the time but I gave him my faith as I have done with every Swansea city manager. Garry Monk has repaid my faith as a supporter with what he and the players have delivered. That's where I'm coming from. I've got no reason or desire to needlessly take up dirt on, or criticise former managers.

Swansea have gona backwards in many ways, since Monk took over.

Biggest problem will be getting new players.... Laudrup had a HUGE network to find quality players.... Montero and Gomis, were 2 guys from his shortlist along with that black swedish guy.... Monk gets shit like Emnes....

Swansea produce absolutely nothing going forward.... Only Burnley, have had less attempts at goal..... which might also explain why the defence is looking better..... Everyone stays back. But what does it matter, when you produce 2 shots at goal against United and still win ?

Outside the UK, viewers vote on which games they want televised.... again Swansea gone from top 8 to bottom 2 - along with Burnley again, since Monk took over.

Monk sounds like a child, when he makes an interview.... its everyone elses fault all the time - blame blame blame.

Having watched a few of Swanseas games this season, they will have a hard time, when/if Bony leaves.... hes been an one man army for them.

fully agree with this post.
At the time ML was sacked i was despearte for it to happen as we were sliding dangerously with someone who wasn't that bothered in charge. We hired Monk for what i hoped was a stop gap till the summer when we would then employ someone like Koeman who was begging for the job.
I was then disappointed when Monk got the job full time due to his lack of experience.
My whole opinion though has changed and i am very pleased with the job Monk has done.
