If the General Election were to be held now, which party would you vote for? 14:05 - Jan 7 with 6196 views | D_Alien | Thought it might be interesting to obtain people's current voting intentions, then compare it with a poll in four months time. EDIT: Please vote as if you were voting for the party of government, not how you might vote tactically at the local election. Doesn't matter if you're eligible to vote or not. If the General Election were to be held now, which party would you vote for? on 19:55 - Jan 7 by zxcvbnm | Personally I will never vote tory, I'm of the the generation where Thatcher single handedly ruined the country. The existing politicians remind me of the end of Animal Farm - where everyone sitting around the table looks at one another and you can't tell them apart. |
Just thank your lucky stars you weren't of the Wilson/Callaghan generation then. Every single period of Labour government has left the country worse off, with the incoming Tory government getting it in the neck for having to clear up the mess. As soon as light appears at the end of the tunnel, we go and bloody well vote Labour back into power. The one shining light of any period of Labour government has been the NHS - except they royally screwed it up between 2000-2005 when more non-clinical posts were created than nurses and doctors plus a laughably hopeless National IT System at a cost of many billions of wasted £s. We really do get the politicians and governments we deserve. [Post edited 7 Jan 2015 20:07]

Education - every government screws it up by putting there own spin on it NHS - Friends who work in the NHS all without exception hate the tories and the way they've screwed it up. The money wasting into the millions is extraordinary. politics is all about opinion though - I think the one agreed thing is the majority are tossers

If the General Election were to be held now, which party would you vote for? on 17:42 - Jan 7 by bennersdale | Why, come on back your statement up? Again the recession had nothing to do with the labour government, if you want to blame somebody blame farage and his banker mates. |
When liebour came in to power we had 2 billion pound in bank how much did we have left when liebour left power ? How much money did we lose when liebour sold our gold How many fuc kers did liebour let in the country ( that why the real reason NHS and our schools are at breaking point ) the benefit life that liebour created All the grooming cover ups that happened in liebour councils LISTEN I COULD GO ON AND ON LIEBOUR HAVE SINGLE HANDLEY RUINED THIS GREAT PLACE I LIVE

If the General Election were to be held now, which party would you vote for? on 21:49 - Jan 7 with 1832 views | wimborne_dale | I'm finding it difficult to choose as I think all the parties have something to offer. Ideally I'd like :- The Conservatives to deal with the economy, Labour to look after the NHS (I think), UKIP - European policy, Greens - Environmental and transport policies and the Lib Dems to count the paper-clips at the Government press office. [edit] I don't think it's possible to vote for a 5-way coalition. [Post edited 7 Jan 2015 21:53]

I can't see the Lib Dems slice on it. Are they in with 'other' these days? Also, I'm amazed that the greens poll half of what Labour poll, which confirms my hunch that if they have the tv debates, the Greens absolutely have to be invited.

Correct, they do have to be invited, because a lot of REAL Labour (not "New Labour" or the current Blue labour) types side with the Greens now. Their votes will make a difference. They will (and have) desert Millibland (deliberate typo) as the Scots will. Labour is losing its core vote in spades by being too right wing and crawling up the media / establishments backside, and failing spectacularly, instead of fighting the cause of poorly paid workers, who's lives they simply do not understand now. Col's earlier assertion of a hung Parliament / irreconcilable coalition makes a great deal of sense as of today. Consequently, can see the Con's sneaking it. Just. Arse.

The problem Labour currently have as I see it is that they tell us they're listening to the voters but the voters are telling them just what they don't want to hear; that immigration is too high, that they want a referendum on the EU and they don't want Scottish MPs voting on matters that only affect England with no reciprocal arrangement. Interestingly, the Greens also propose a referendum on the EU. That doesn't seem to get much media coverage, though.

Makes you wonder why the greens continue to get blanked yet UKIP and Russell Brand get so much air time doesn't it...

Simple, because UKIP have a lot more money to promote themselves and also come with enough controversy to sell more papers without completely destroying the party. I find it hard to believe how Farage can come across as a man of the people for some when the guy was educated at Dulwich College for a start. Sadly it seems as though UKIP will have a hand to play around the area of Rochdale and others, with only a few hundred votes away from winning the Heywood and Middleton seat which they probably will do this May and they will probably come 2nd in the Rochdale seat aswell. As a Labour supporter at heart its hard to see what they will do in the next election especially around the northern towns like us because they are 'safe' seats so not much actually goes on because there will always be staunch Labour supporters. Hopefully the one good thing UKIP can do is give the other parties a kick up the arse to know they'r not safe whatever constituency they are in. The one thing you can give the Greens and UKIP etc whether you like them or not is that they are offering an alternative. People always politics over whose done worse either Labour or Conservative because of Wilson or Thatcher but maybe it is time for a bit of change and see if that works
