Welsh not British on 20:14 - Sep 9 with 1348 views | exiledclaseboy | The phrase "Free Scotland" does make me laugh. You'd swear that they're jackbooted and downtrodden at the moment, not a modern, developed and civilised country which already has more self-determination in government than any other part of the UK.

Tale the high road and disappear into that romantic dream of independence. It's starvation and realisation for them. They ll see sense as they re about to put their cross on the ballot paper and go No?

Personally it's a romantic notion and the reality will hammer the, It ain't Latvia, Lithuania not even Estonia. It's not being butchered by people s chums on here, ie Russia, and the tanks haven't rolled in like Prague and budapest. It's not like the divided Berlin either with people trying to get out at all costs

Welsh not British on 19:02 - Sep 9 by union_jack | I posted yesterday that it may be better for England if Wales were to go independent. I believe I am right in saying that the taxpayer puts proportionally more into Wales than England and as mist tax payers are English, questions will be asked. I've said many times that England should be devolved also. Four home nations with their own powers and a central government dealing with overarching issues. On a side note, I hear that Wales wants it's iwn criminal justice system. So that will mean 3 years for murder and life for calling someone Taff!!! |
And yet Wales would have received 300-400 million a year if it was classed as an English region. We get short changed and then people are 'amazed' when people like me believe Westminster never have and never will have our best interests at heart. It's a past time across the border reminding the little simple Welsh people that we couldn't survive without them. In that case they can do us a favour and send over the correct amount.

Welsh not British on 22:59 - Sep 9 with 1146 views | felixstowe_jack | Scotland will loose 500,000 jobs straight away. A large part of the UK Inland revenue computer centers and call centers are based in Scotland. The same goes for the DWP and many other Government departments. They will all have to be relocated South of the Border meaning a huge job boost for the rest of the UK. We might loose a few jobs at the DVLA as Scotland will need to sort out their own Vehicles. Phone calls to Scotland will go up in price as they will be an international destination. The large subsidy that Scotland gets per head of the population will cease. MOD personnel will also have to move South including Trident bases. More jobs down South. Scotland will loose Nato membership as they won't allow nuclear weapons on Scottish soil. Scotland will have to apply to join the EU otherwise they will loose all the EU subsidies. All new Countries join the EU have to have the EURO. A large number of large firms will relocate their headquarters to London We will loose 50 Scottish MPs that should save a few bob in expenses although that would scupper Labours chances in the rest of the UK All in all I can't see any minuses in Scotland gaining Independance!!!

I don't care either way mate. I quite like the idea of all these numpties running around in a blind panic. In truth no one knows what happens with a yes vote, and both sides will be cacking their pants. So you gotta just ask yourselves one question. Do you feel lucky punks? Well, do ya?...

If Scotland is dependent on hand-outs from England and has nothing going for it why are Cameron and Co. so desperate that they stay - is it some kind of emotional attachment ?

Welsh not British on 15:26 - Sep 9 by Aquinas | He knows if Scotland leave then Wales will diminish even further in the eyes of the international world as a country in its own right. England would make up something like 90% of the population of GB should Scotland leave. I am in the 'no' camp, but it must be fantastic being a 'yes' supporter because they have the politicians and monarchy panicking. |
What? That makes no sense. Wales does not suddenly shrink because Scotland leaves. Being a smaller % of population doesn't determine our standing. And your figures don't add up either! I'm with Perch, the jocks will really, really regret it. And the rest of us will suffer too. They haven't even voted yet and the markets are getting nervous. A devalued pound, higher inflation and taxes, that's what we can look forward to.
| |
Welsh not British on 10:16 - Sep 10 with 1026 views | perchrockjack | IF they were to vote yes, the pound, that our pound, would plummet ,making us all suffer. So we re quite happy to risk this for what? and independence Scotland. If they went in with ROE that would alright but then religion would come into it releasing more bitterness and sectarianism into the equation. Some like Kilkenny have a child like vision of the old country, well its 2014 and its too late. The newly independent countries have been proper countries in their own right for centuries most ripped to pieces by mother Russia-. Still, at least those who care for the common man, wont be able to blame the fat Yanks for this nor even ISRAEL. Not much regarding GAZA recently either, no doubt as Scotland is now the new cause.. Anyway, my mum used to play Andy Stewrat and "the Scottish soldier" for many years at Christmas and NEW year
