Awesome Swans Keep Marching On on 10:40 - Aug 31 by Swanzay | Amat had another fantastic game, as did they all! |
After the Burnley game, I think, I had a difference of opinion on here with someone saying he is not good enough (similar words anyway!) Today, I take it all back......Amat was fwcking brilliant. I wonder where this £8m international defender is gonna fit in??? What a terrific team performance today

I was actually glad to see that Fernandez hadn't wandered straight into the first XI as it shows that Monk isn't scared to make the most expensive defender we have ever had work to make it into the team. It also shows that he is willing to give him time to gel with the squad rather than just thinking that he is on paper better than Amat, therefore makes it in ahead of him. I'm sure this approach helps team moral.

Agreed, he did have a good game but I winced when he gently rolled the ball to Sessegnon for him to smash it against the bar.

True, but we all know he won't be able to attract big name signings

But that's exactly the reason I always believed Monk will make it here as a Manager. He is , mentally, teak tough. Sometimes we forget what he has been through with us and how much of a winner the bloke is. When we got into the PL he played with his brain and used that to get him through games. He is doing the same as Manager. He has made decisions as Manager which have surprised and delighted me and has shown more innovation than in 20 odd games than Laudrup showed in 80 odd. Laudrup bought some really good players (Amat, Michu, Chico, Pablo) but was far too tactically rigid by the end . That happens to many Managers as Fear of Failure cripples their thinking. One can only hope Monk doesn't eventually go the same way and instead thrives as Rodgers and Roberto have.

Fernandez didn't look match fit to me on Tuesday. I wonder how much training he's done since the World Cup as it was clear that he was leaving Napoli and wasn't in their Europa league squad. I've read a few players' autobiographies that have said they barely train when a transfer is in the offing in case of injury. Hopefully he will be up to speed in a couple of weeks time and Garry will have another big call to make.

Fair play i dont know how they keep doing it, every year we all think there is turmoil or they have lost key personnel but they just keep coming back like the baddy that wont die in the films. Fair play to them too. Every year we think they can't pile on any more debt or humiliate themselves further with their antics, but every year they do. They should have their own series on a sh1t television channel...'At home with the Cardiffians' or something. By the way, if Barklay, Oxo-Cube, Rooney or any Scouse pool player had scored that goal we would never hear the end of it, and it would add another 60m to his price. With Routs it was just 'good finish'. Good finish...wtf...

Awesome Swans Keep Marching On on 09:05 - Sep 1 with 889 views | jackonicko | Phil Cadden wrote the match report in the Times today. All very positive, as you would expect. But I particularly enjoyed the reference to "Champions League chasing Swansea....". I can't post a link as The Times is behind a paywall. The awesome Swans really do keep marching on.
