Garry Monk - what a terrible start to his managerial career..... 19:49 - May 11 with 5016 views | JethroJack | Premier League.... Played 14 Won 5 Drawn 4 Lost 5 (every one just by the odd goal). Average points per match = 1.36 Extrapolated to full 38 game season = 52 points. Oh, yeah, and 2 cracking games against Napoli (3rd in Serie A and Coppa Italia Winners 2014) which raised the club's profile enormously throughout Europe. And....a very enjoyable 3pts and 3 goal contribution towards Cardiff City becoming the VERY FIRST Welsh team to be relegated from the Premier League. MUST DO BETTER......Come on Garry, pull your finger out and start taking the job more seriously.

Too late, he's already done it.

Don't spoil it for him mun.

Garry Monk - what a terrible start to his managerial career..... on 20:11 - May 11 with 832 views | SimonSwansea | Monk has done great in my eyes, difficult introduction to a tense situation. However, i dont think statistics can be used to compare him yet. Stats mean nothing without context. Completely diferent games due to injuries, away/home, time of season etc. compared to Laudrup. Cant wait to see us next season with a Monk pre-season and summer transfer.

Garry Monk - what a terrible start to his managerial career..... on 20:08 - May 11 by exiledclaseboy | Results improved towards the end of the season, performances were fairly consistent notwithstanding the poor efforts I pointed out. Whereas you clearly said that "the games" towards the end of the season have been better than at the start. Which is clearly nonsense. |
How well we perform in games means nothing unless we pick up points. Blackpool would perform admirably most games, but they didn't last very long. We need to win games when we are playing well and scrape 1 or 2 points, maybe a win, when we are not. We have done that towards the end of the season.

Garry Monk - what a terrible start to his managerial career..... on 20:09 - May 11 by DwightYorkeSuperstar | I'm not trying to be controversial. I post what I believe. I post why I believe what I believe. If you disagree then that is fine - providing you explain why, which you do most of the time. Just because you disagree with someone and you hold the opinion which is more common does not mean you are automatically correct or whatever you believe you are. |
Yes you are. I don't think that you believe half of what you write on here. But I respect your right to hold your views and to express them as I respect my own right to counter them. It's irrelevant to me whether it's a more common or popular opinion. If I agreed with you I would say so. It just so happens that on this particular occasion I don't. Mainly because it was such a dumb thing to say.

Garry Monk - what a terrible start to his managerial career..... on 20:15 - May 11 with 813 views | JethroJack | Garry made some significant personnel changes today, got his tactics spot on and came away with a fantastic win....against a team buoyed by the fact that they had just avoided the dreaded drop with a draw and 4 wins in the last 5 games. Will you join me DYSS in congratulating our new manager on a brilliant win today ?? [Post edited 11 May 2014 20:17]

We also did it right at the start of Monk's tenure, against Cardiff and again three days later at Stoke. And then there was the tremendous effort in losing to a then-rampant Liverpool team at Anfield by the odd goal in seven. And the draw against Napoli. If we really have to rationalise it to the nth degree we started very well under Monk, tailed off during the middle part of his time and ended the season well. How's that sound?

I agree with this. I like some of DYSS posts but he's starting to do my head in now with the anti monk agenda, no offence meant of course, just a difference in opinion ;) [Post edited 11 May 2014 20:17]

Garry Monk - what a terrible start to his managerial career..... on 19:59 - May 11 by exiledclaseboy | More nonsense. At the start of Monk's time here we hammered Cardiff, got an excellent draw at Stoke, put in an excellent performance away at Liverpool, outplayed Napoli at the Liberty and gave a very good account of ourselves in Italy. Sure, there were a few bumps along the way, most notably the inept second half displays against Palace and West Brom but these were followed by the draw at Arsenal and the trouncing of Norwich and then Villa. The improvement in effort and performance was almost immediate. You and others just didn't want to see it. And still don't. |
You could pick out any 14 consecutive league games of both Rodgers and Laudrup's spells and pick out at least 2 totally inept performances such as the WBA or Hull ones. Let's see if Dwight or Spratty can prove me wrong [Post edited 11 May 2014 20:29]

Either that or it's the old problem with those who try to be controversial purely for the sake of being controversial. Eventually, they'll run out of material and end up as a parody. |
I tried to point that out to him yesterday but he didnt want to listen It is only a matter of time before he returns with a new username - I suspect sometime around July when pre season starts

If you saw the 13 PM's he sent me asking me to stop criticising him for his incessant criticism of the club, you wouldn't describe him as "being sure of himself"....but a (misplaced) ego, I'd go along with. If he is Cardiff, it helps to explain his opinions as just shit-stirring, but if he's not.....???

I don't think he is sure of himself, just hides behind his keyboard and I doubt he'd talk such shite in the real world.

So if we have to rationalise it, he over sees a group of players who were out of form, come back into it, before going out, and then in again? Or do you have another idea what the secret is?

Your point is potentially perfectly valid. But seeing as managers take the criticism when form goes wrong, then it's fair to give them the praise when it comes back again. Don't you think.
