League 3? 14:26 - May 8 with 4336 views | scottishjack | So, Premier league teams will be eligible to enter "B" teams. I assume that they mean all Premier League teams if they so wish? Not just the top 6? Plus, lets say for example, we enter a "B" team into league 3, they win promotion, but our first team were to be relegated from the Premier League? I think personally this needs a lot of thought, and proper consultation with the non-league teams...Or is it purely set up to help the so called big teams in the Prem?

League 3? on 19:00 - May 8 by C_jack | On topic, the NFL draft is tonight. I would love to see a similar approach in this country where the best young players are not farmed by academies, but play for designated clubs, they could then be drafted to perhaps Championship clubs at the end of the season. Nice idea but that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

English Prem plus FL is 92 clubs. Do any nations across Europe, bigger nations, have such a number of professional clubs? I'd doubt it to be honest. There are many clubs who have never progressed past what is now League One. There are plenty of clubs in congested areas who will never get anywhere due to not being able to gain and sustain a large fanbase due to bigger clubs being in the region. If horizontal mobility is thus limited for the most part by geographical reasons, there's never going to be any semblance of a level playing field. |
And there are plenty that do, such as my club and the club that used to exist down the road. There's a damn sight more thsn 92 clubs that are pro, but again it's irrelevant to compare to other countries without the same history of lower league support. If a club in the lower leagues can afford to go pro then so be it. Kill the lower leagues and we lose an awful amount. Far far more than the mythical gains this is supposed to give.

Makes perfect sense, as it does in the NFL. The pathway from high school onwards for the sport is clear. The best young prospects go to the teams that need them. Incredibly difficult to implement in our structure and culture though, since we take a 'farmyard' approach.

I didn't say that the draft process makes no sense. Implementing it into our football pyramid makes no sense.

There needs to be a a fairer distribution of the TV money to lower league clubs. I don't know anything about Spain but in Germany the B teams are pretty irrelevant - the real reason for Germany's success at international level is this place. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Sport_University_Cologne

League 3? on 21:38 - May 8 with 775 views | ImAlrightJack | In Estonia and Spain, reserve squads play in the main pyramid, but cannot get promoted, if it means playing in the same league as their senior counterparts. IF there is promotion, then that might be the case here. In fact, I think it's a disgraceful idea. It gives no hope to Conference teams, they'll never be able to get into the league, let alone those in the regional ones below it. It's a suggestion of Greg Dyke. The only decent thing he did was to introduce Roland Rat to breakfast TV. Everything he's done after that has been useless.

Good god, no. Itll mean that big boys will stockpile even more young talent than they do now!!

League 3? on 22:02 - May 8 with 752 views | MillJack | Hypothetical situation: Man United play Liverpool in the Premier League, at the same time in opposite ends of the country their 'B' teams play league 2 games against Carlisle & Exeter respectively. How many away fans would be at those League 2 games??? Absolute dogsh!t idea which makes no sense in regards to the development of young players or in making the English national team stronger. I bet Rochdale have always dreamt of the opportunity to play Stoke Reserves in a competitive fixture. FFS.

League 3? on 15:45 - May 8 by Kennedy | We would not be in it anyway as read you must be academy 1 status (we are 2) As of 2013 Arsenal Aston Villa Bolton Wanderers (Championship) Blackburn Rovers (Championship) Chelsea Everton Fulham Leicester City (Championship) Liverpool Manchester City Manchester United Middlesbrough (Championship) Norwich City Reading (Championship) Southampton Stoke City Sunderland Tottenham West Bromwich Albion West Ham United Wolverhampton Wanderers (Championship) |
Interesting in our area that Villa, Wolves, Reading, Southampton have AC1 status, not sure about Cardiff
League 3? on 22:35 - May 8 with 704 views | dameedna | About a thousand or more 'Pool/Utd' fans and their families would turn up which would put revenue on the gate and make the games very competitive and hopefully hostile. Loads of United or Liverpool fans would pop up in the areas of Exeter and Carlisle, more than at present. This is normal all over the world where no fvcker supported the Jackies until we got to the Prem and beat the likes of Liverpool and United. Bring it on I say, the money in the Prem has to have a better return. That is capitalism. Forget international football.
