Ash spewing in second half must have been part of decision
But Lita instead of Emnes? I used be sympathetic to Lita, but today he had a chance and did nothing! effort nil! strolling about with the old attitude.
Yeah I agree. My worry is that Townhill's finest tactician will no doubt try and get Ash to play through the sickness for him
Sad to see you're getting downvoted for this. One of the most sensible posts on here this eve.
Cheers mate,
Par for the course on here sometimes unfortunately
Just hearing that Ash was touch and go to even play today due to slight knock and illness so seems he did well to last as long as he did.
Bony has played full 90 minutes for most games last few months so if he was on the verge of pulling something or felt like any over exertion would put him out it was probably right to get him off.
Whether Lita over Emnes was the way forward is debatable but GM is the manager and he deserves a bit more trust than what he's getting on here at the moment IMO
If people actually thought they were tactically substituted then you're mental.
I know Monk has come out and said they were ill already but it was clear they weren't at full health when they were taken off. Monk isn't that stupid ffs
Then why the fook play them and risk them getting injured because they aint at 100% ?
Amat if he had started could have grown into the game and got his game head on,instead he was thrown into the deep end at just the wrong moment !
Was Bony also ill ? well thats more understandable to still start with him at least .
As mentioned before, a very big concern is that Monk has no clue to change things, its almost like we get worked out after 65mins then we are fooked and end up conceeding a stupid goal!
Monk has proved today that he aint cut out for this job IMO. maybe because he knew he was needing to make changes he could counter pullis tactical change second half, truth is though that we have followed a pattern of looking totally drained after 70 mins these days, something that wasnt a problem under the last management team actually .

Why would he start Amat if ash was fit?? He got injured in the game!!!

Can't argue with any of that. Good post.
And unfortunately, your second line is spot on, too. Planetswans has a myriad of great characters and posters on here who are able to construct criticism without resorting to swearing or offensive remarks. But on the flip side there's some proper keyboard warriors on here whose idea of argument is to spew 'c*nt' with abandon and threaten violence.

Still, part and parcel of the internet, I fear.
Agreed. It was obivous that the team was exhausted and anybody that can't grasp that really does not understand football. If we hadnt played the Napoli games I think we would have buried Palace in the second half. Incidentially while Emnes has looked ok he hasn't suddenly become Luis Suarez and I say if and I saw if Monk made a mistake with that subsitution I think we can forgive him that.
Losing Bony cost us big time. If that was a sub for anything other than injury then it has to go down as a f*ckup.
Hate to say it, but the only thing he contributed today was in defence. Given how we were penned in, I can see the logic of bringing on a more mobile forward (just a shame we've no options). Add in the illness and it's obviously a no brainer to take him off.
Of course its naïve. Takes of Williams who is the leader and most experienced defender on the park and takes off Bony who is capable of holding the ball up to take relief of the back four.
Apparently Williams was ill with the bug and was taken off after spewing up
Well its interesting that you say that, maybe doing double sessions was a completely fooking stupid idea dont you think, maybe the fact energy was conserved under Laudrup and we always played stronger second half in games was the approach that was best suited to these games after euro league ?
Monk in the last 3 games has made subs that cost us all three games in terms of a point or victory IMO. If there were tiredness issues then surely keeping people fresh for Palace was an absolute top priority !
To take off Bony and Ash was a shocking misjudgement by monk, unless of course these boys are injured, a tired Bony will still hold the fooking ball though and a tired Ash will still try and play the right ball and keep things organised at the back .
No getting away from this im afraid. This game was a must win and was there for us,Palace were poor and once pulis changed things second half monk had no clue how to combat it .
Things are worse now than they were under Laudrup, the only difference is that we are conceeding more and taking less points under Monk .
Needs pointing out that your last sentence/fact is in fact completely incorrect so perhaps you'll be man enough to admit this?? P W D L F A PTS PPG Monk 4 1 2 1 8 6 5 1.25 Laudrup 24 6 6 12 29 35 24 1

Both poor in league, but we used to win cup matches, so guess that papered over some of the cracks.
1 win in last 7 matches and some fans are talking like we have found an amazing manager. Far too early for those claims.
So far with those results, which is what football is about, understandable fans are questionning whether right appointment long term.
The fact that he has not been appointed as permanent manager will not help the doubters, of which I am one.

I didn't actually say anything about Monk's performance or Laudrup's, or what may/may not happen. But GM has played Everton away and Napoli twice. ML's last cup match was a pathetic performance at Brum which, having personally witnessed, convinced me something was badly wrong because it was as bad a performance as I've seen since we got promoted. We also managed to lose to Brum in the COC. And yes I'm not discounting wins in Valencia and Man Utd where ML did v well tactically but was helped by suicidal sendings off by the oppo. In the Leageu , Monk's "performance" is better than ML's. Fact.
gary monk is doing a fine job with the players at his disposall, beat scum held stoke look at arsenal there yesterday, unlucky at liverpool who are on fire and form team, over 2 games competed with napoli who only stayed in the game through there goalies major team in europe, everton had to play weak team but errors cost us, then palace out played for 45 minutes then ran out of steam , who could do any better with the players we have the boys have given there all, if gary monk had been in charge since october i feel we would be at least 6 points better off, who do these key board managers think could do a better job, we are getting to sound like the top 5 teams supporters always winging.

There is no logic in swapping Bony for any other striker on our books, even if he's not having the best game of his career (no way he was as bad as Phil and others believe however).
If he was ill then fair enough. He didn't look particularly happy at the decision though.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Spot on. As I have said before it may only be 1 win in 4 but also only 1 loss in 4 against LM's 1 loss in 2 ie every other game. Plus earlier in the season LM had the luxury of Michu to play.

Looking at the opening comment and some of the post voting on this thread... It's hideous and embarrassing. Everyone's a fecking expert and not prepared to give the manager the benefit of the doubt.

You'd swear we'd appointed Joe Ledley as manager. Gary has been with us since the basement division, which is more than can be said of some of our "fans". He has earned our loyalty and he'll have 100% support from me. It's the least he deserves. Some on here are talking like we lost 6 out of 6!
Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

This. I thought at the time that Will and Ash were taken off because of injuries. And I'll wait to hear/see the news (been in work from 0600 so no chance to try and find out.) It certainly changed our style of play. I also thought it would be a good chance for Lita to prove his worth. Bit disappointing really. Have no faith in Dean as a ref, so for me, anything we took from the game would be a bonus. Defo a red card for Chico though.
If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

Chico fell on his sword there. Vorm needs to spend time on his positioning.
