Since the end of the match I have been wondering whether the referee costing us the win would be more prominent in comments than the MP out narrative. I have just read MP's post-match interview and I would praise it for being very dignified given the desperately disappointing error by the officials. If MP does go then we MUST have a quality replacement ALREADY lined up. We basically won that game today and if it is MP's last game then we should remember that.

Man impersonates a football manager and somehow never does the best starting 11 and never ever does the right subs at the right time

If justice was seen to be be done..we had the game won 2-1 after 90 minutes.

If justice was seen to be done, then the goal shouldn't have stood and the player involved should be suspended. IF we fail to survive at the end of the season , we can all look back at this game as recall it.

IF one good thing came out of the whole fiasco, it is that 5 years after his Prem. debut, JWP has finally found a role he can function in . As a player who can make a good pass and shoot on sight. he deserves a real chance in that position, whilst Shane Long " deserves " a goal a game - just for sheer effort.

Went expecting the worst but great atmosphere, well done all fans and really encouraging game...Pellegrino playing PEH as a centre-forward was inspired and gave us a fulcrum in attack we haven't had since Pelle. PEH worked his socks off, but is not a number 9, and I can only think it was Pellegrino proving to Les what we need. If so, job done.

CB's were solid, with Stephens looking classy at times, Cedric gave everything, Betrand was solid and combined really well with Tadic, and had a brilliant late intervention to avoid turning in Kanes shot. Midfield was solid and committed and bossed the first half and held its own in the 2nd until we sat back.... but why can't we finish?! Gilt edge chances for Manolo, PEH in first 10 mins, then Obafemi and Boufal in last 10mins. We should have scored from at least 2 of them, and until we start too, we are going to be reliant on team performances like that until CA comes back/we sign a number 9.

Although we didn't score the goal, but were well worth the point, and with better luck (where have I heard that before?)..might have had all 3.

Bertrand, JWP and Hjobjerg all quite outstanding, as were Cedric and Tadic (for once). Cb's Stephens and Hoedt held Spurs front line to only one goal, and that was an improvement on Boxing Day.

Encouraging, but the next 2-3 games will be vital to a rise in the table..wait and see.

Hope for a continuation of this new-found formation v. Watford , as a good Cup-run would be some sort of compensation for an otherwise disppointing seasons start.

Turned out to be a fairly even contest in conditions that defied the playing of anything resembling good football. We seem to be able to deal with the threat from Spurs' fast running athleticism more effectively than one might have expected having seen Spurs run riot against Everton the other da. Top marks to everyone for effort in appalling conditions that even challenged spectators to venture outdoors let alone trek up to St Mary's.

Still can't score a goal. Will Reedy address that this millenium?

Great atmosphere and a really good effort from the team and, even though it was an own goal, the pressure beforehand made it a deserved strike.
I've been really impressed with Tadic in the last few weeks - he's obviously aware of some of the stick he's been getting but, fair play to him, he's dug in and has really grafted and made some good moves in this game.
Cedric and Bertrand slotting back in has made the team more dangerous in attack. Lemina seems to be slowly getting back to the form he showed before his injury. It's also good to see that Hojbjerg and JWP have made themselves almost undroppable (although they might be rested for the cup game).
I've seen some pretty nasty social media comments about Obafemi's miss but I've seen many established internationals miss sitters. He knows what he did wrong (he was very honest in his interview) and he might have a couple of sleepless nights reliving it but at least he got into the right place - having seen some of his goals for the U18s, he's a good prospect and I hope he gets another run-out before too long.
Gabbiadini was disappointing. He may well be frustrated at not getting picked for a few weeks since Austin came back and then Long being favoured. But he's a professional and he should have grabbed his chance but he was lacklustre to say the least. A couple of pretty tame shots which the keeper dealt with easily and an airshot. But what was most disappointing was his lack of chasing and harrying off the ball.
And, my God, Friend seems to get worse every time he sets foot in SMS. Dembele should have been booked early on and might have got a second yellow. I was particularly livid when Stephens was booked for fouling Kane after Kane had given him a forearm slug in the throat and was pushing before falling in reaction to the slightest resistance. None of the officials for the last two or three years have been good enough but Friend is close to being the worst.
Anyway, a well-deserved point that could have been three (although they had one or two cast iron chances towards the end). The first time we've taken points from Spurs at home since we've been back up.

Deffo looked like a penalty when Long was brought down. Should really have been more than 1-0 but happy enough with that.

Didn't see the game but why did Guido rate so poorly?
