Unexpected, Immense, as was Wanyama , just enjoy it! Too good a night to debate about Wanyama.......but
DPeps, the jury's still out on his motives and attitude.

Cuco Martina, stand up and take a bow.. What a stunner of a goal !! A special mention also to Shane Long. His pace caused Arsenal problems all night.

Great overall performance and a result that I did not see coming Everybody worked as if they really wanted a result. Too many of our last performances have been pedestrian like without rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck in when things ere going against us. A lot of heart shown last night which was very encouraging. I hope now we can keep the momentum going and climb the table again.

Tactically, we got it spot on as we did when we beat Man U away last season. Were Ozil and Giroud actually playing last night?? ? Well done Ron, whatever he said during the week worked a treat.

On a side note, was watching the game on BT Sport. Robbie Savage and Ian Wright… An alien with no concept of football would talk more sense then those two. At least Hoddle has some tactical acumen.

3 festive points in the bag, excellent.

Wow - what a difference from the previous 5 games !!

Getting the first goal and what a goal, helped install confidence and we were much stronger on and off the ball for once.

Long did excellently and we actually played to our strengths for once - even if arse were expecting to play against Pelle. Long should have had 3 or 4, but will settle for his brace !!

Fonte and VvD were awesome and put in the performances they owed us after recent showings. Good goals from each too - VvD was not one of those offside !! Oh well. Giroud was non existent in the 2nd half, as were Walcott and Campbell, so defence was good and the few mistakes we did make didn't get punnished for once.

Big Vic was so much better and moving the ball quicker really helped him, as it did with Davis and Clasie. Only JWP was poor, lightweight, didn't track back and can't shoot for toffee.

Koeman got his tactics right and changed players at good times, unlike Wenger who could only moan at the first goal being offside (Davis headed it back and could be marginally off, but hey, we were owed an offside decision), the second being a foul (yes Long clipped legs with Koscielny but so what, he had battered Long all night) and the third goal for not being a corner (watched it on MOTD when I got back and it touched Koscielny).

Arse faded badly and our goals really sucked the confidence out of them. My Arsenal mate in the away end was gutted and couldn't believe that they could go top with a win, but put in such a poor display. What other motivation did they need ?

Well done boys - on to West Ham tomorrow and hopefully another 3 points !!

A battling and functional performance where everyone pulled together and fought determinedly. No co-incidence that we had a right back who could defend and a fast running highly mobile cents forward rather than a static target lump. What a revelation that is bound to question Foeman's team selection in recent weeks. Let's hope he'll stick with stick with this line-up and not revert to aimless lobbing of long balls up to Pelle which is so easy to defend against. Shane Long was outstanding all evening and gave us a glimpse of what Jay Rodrigues could have given us if not for his wretched injuries. Long should now be automatic first choice at No 9 for a few weeks. Classie, Martina and Romeu excelled and should be first picks on this showing. Sadly JWP looks increasingly out of his depth at this level, the game mostly passing him by.

I saw the team sheet and to be honest, I thought Ro Ko was really struggling for answers after the recent run of form. But hey WTF it just shows what being a Saints supporter is all about. When your expectation is high, you get kicked in the nuts. When the expectation is low the opposition get kicked in the nuts.

From the stunning goal from Cuco Martin, the whole team and the crowed got a palpable lift in confidence. Wanyama was back to his old self, harrying and bulling the midfield. The back four worked as a unit, JWP and Davis ran after everything and Mane and Long could have had a few more between them.

Not even a very poor Referee could disappoint the rampant Saints

Great night, great EFFORT played for 90+min sure makes a difference. But yes I will say it, VW sell him, one swallow does not make a summer make, that is the level he should play at EVERY game, that is only two games out of twenty he has played at that level not enough. Classie is already miles ahead in terms of movement, passing, tackling and vision, LONG may it continue. Very happy today.

Why the f.uck can't we play two halls of a game the same ... Pressed and closed down first half second half gave to much time on ball to west ham and no closing down crap need to carry same commitment as per arsenal game over 90 mins .... Strange vw gos back to same play as had been last 6/7 game apart from arsenal game sell him now or drop him

Another game we let get away, we can't seem to stand prosperity it seems. I think we made substitutes a little early, but we should of taken our chances in the first half and would have won going away. We seem to have a problem with being consistent, this year for sure. We're we hung over from the Arsenal game maybe
but these guy's get big money to do a job and sometimes working hard for half a shift wouldn't make it in the real world.Still onward and upward I hope, Coyr.

There aren't enough cliches to sum this one up.
Game of two halves, end to end stuff, on paper we should've won, one step forward and two steps back.

Most fitting cliche however is: if you don't take your chances you'll be punished.
