Saints were robbed of two points by a shocking decision by the officials to disallow a perfectly good Rodriguez goal for offside. If it had not been wrongly disallowed, Saints would have gone on to a comfortable victory.

Lucky this was on live here.

Above all else it was a win! We were sloppy many times and regularly gave the ball away unnecessarily to Bolton. A better team than Bolton would have punished us!

Not a particularly good advert for Championship football and how the heck did we earn 6 yellows? That was not a dirty or physical game.

But we persevered and in the past 2 seasons this is the type of game we would have clutched defeat from the jaws of victory.

This team is only going to get better. No one really bad nor really good today. Austin quite, AJ despite the goal not at his best. Green made a few great saves. It all points towards a team playing for one another and wanting to win.

None of us can complain at 3 wins and 1 draw from the 4 games. Happy days are here again!

Leeds next week will be the toughest test so far. A point from that game will be a good result.

After giving away an, 'help yourself goal', it was always going to be a difficult game, with Sunderland content to hold on to a one goal lead. With Di Canio's men doubling up and closing down well, especially in the first half and my fiver on a 2 nil Saints win already added to the litter in block 34 after only 3 minutes.

The second half started with 2 changes for saints with Schneiderlin and Shaw off, (Schneiderlin less effective playing further forward and Shaw, more worryingly, perhaps suffering from a heavy knock in the first half) and replaced Clyne and the new 15 million-man Osvaldo. The football became much more open with the visitors perhaps having used all their energy in the first half, but even with the later introduction of Ramirez Saints were struggling to find the net. Indeed as the game trudged into the last 10 minutes I mused with the chap next to me about who would get the blame with no Gully or Fox on the pitch. We didn’t have to wait too much longer as the loud mouth three rows behind us started to berate J Rod… ironic really as personally I thought the only red shirt on the pitch who looked like he could score was J Rod.

Even more ironic, the saving goal came from a defender. Jose Fonte, who, perhaps many might have thought, myself included, was a player about to be replaced in the squad, but who seems to have rolled the clock back three seasons and has been back to top form in the opening two matches this season got us out of gaol.

Two lessons from this one, Saints need to defend set pieces better and need to score more from set pieces.

Disappointing afternoon we clearly arrived for a point and when we went a goal down we pushed on and looked the better side. Pozuelo deserves a start definitely and no no complaints over the result

Very disappointing as there was a point to be had. Wonder why Bony sat 70 minutes?

Poor atmosphere at the Reebok - where was everybody? No Dennis The Menace shirts - red and black does not clash with White?

Bolton were frankly as poor as Ipswich - and like v Ipswich, we weren't all that either

10 points from 12 and we are still in first gear..

Full marks to Rob Green faultless all day except one throw out - and to Clint Hill who clearly had ghost goal revenge on his mind all afternoon

Great bunch of Bolton fans round the Nat Lofthouse statue after the game

Why is it always so chilly at the Reebok?

An opportunity for the fringe players to show waht they can do and apart from Mo S-the others did not quite deliver.
Can put it down to the LC being a low priority but still we should beat teams from lower divisions. Highlights-Mo Sahrif and a few crosses from Suk Young -why exactly did we buy him . Austin was disapointing up front-how much did we pay for him>
Faulrin was a shadow of himself-this sort of game should have been right up his street
Away fans were a lugh though
Oh well put it down to experience or the lack of it

first half we were dire... swindon worked hard to close us down and won the midfield battle and was not surprised when they scored as we did not seem able to get the ball out of our half...missed henry dunne and barton as diakete faurlin and jenas had no cutting edge..second half better we missed a hatful of chances and am getting concerned about austins finishing.......second goal was a farce...need a striker midfield and another back before window closes or we will struggle against better teams

Another season another Cup nightmare. I felt during the recent Ipswich game that we could do with raising the tempo a bit - our pace of play was quite sluggish at times. Hopefully this will serve as a wake up call.

I know its still early days (and obviously no complaints with the league position!) but the general lack of goals so far this season is also a bit of a concern.
