Lovely documentary about men's mental health, and sharing the love
at 08:42 28 Nov 2024

Well I'm not sure we sang for Celar and can share credit for his two brilliant goals last night. Most of us wanted him sent off to pasture.

But I think the fans going to the games (not me) deserve a shout out for sticking by Marti (in particular) and the team. This club does not deserve the amazing support it's had this season. Huge respect to all of you who attend each match and keep singing and believing

Why not try it? Let's get behind him, clap him, sing his name. Worth a try. We can't get another striker for two months so we need to work with what we have. With that snapshot he sent just wide of the post second half, that was hopefully something to build on.

Random one... Was very moved by this short documentary on Netflix. Close to my heart as about how therapy can turn around a man's life. And how that then created an act of kindness that spread to a whole baseball stadium, and turned the fortunes of a failing star player.

Q. would such a thing work for poor Zan Celar?

QPR slump to dead last after Pompey implosion – Report
at 12:43 21 Oct 2024

It is hard to recall how good we were end of last season. And there's been flashes of it in games this season.

But something is seriously wrong in the club. All of us guessing but it's not a happy camp and confidence is shot.

I've always defended Marti and want him to stay. But I was at pompey game and some ropey managerial decisions. Picking Fox. Playing 5 at the back, when it's the midfield (and Madsen) that needs bolstering, not Steve Cook. Bringing on the young lad who looked good but not physical enough. Bringing on Smyth and Kaito (how did he not start??) but then not pushing them on... I was in line with them, he had them as full backs in a back 5. I was losing my shit...we're 2-1 down at home to the bottom side, 20 mins left, and still have 5 at the back, with our wingers not up the pitch. Marti can't be devoid of blame, it was poor for all to see

On a bright note Chair made chances. If he'd taken the two it couldve been different, but this looks a team just as confused and fragile as we did under GA

Eze not in the England squad
at 21:13 3 Oct 2024

I love Eze too...but looks who pushed him out: Bellingham Foden and Palmer.
Jesus what an embarrassment of riches England has in that attacking midfielder / 10 position.
Palace mate said he's playing OK but struggling with being sole creative burden since Olese left for Bayern

Home Form Is Awful
at 17:08 3 Oct 2024

I hear you

I can't make many games, 5 or so per season. When I do I want to bring my 11 yr old lad. But despite loving playing he refuses to watch any more QPR games, in fact he sees it as punishment. And I get it : I've taken him so many times and we play poorly, lose, and atmosphere justifyably rubbish.

I wish we could be even half decent at home, just for a season or two. Feel like I'm missing out on some key bonding moments with my son because of it.

Am a long way from turning on Marti but would say his no 1 priority has to be turning around our home form, sharpish. It's unacceptable and means we're building on sand.

Utterly Sick of It

Just to add what a great debate this has been. A good example of where this forum can be at its best, with passionate well-informed fans bringing different perspectives, disagreeing whilst staying respectful, not getting personal or nasty. And no politics.
I agree with Brian's OP my heart sank when I saw line up, but can accept now from reading other posts that Marti longer term priorities need to be considered.

God I'd give a b0llock for a decent cup run.

Like many on here though Gab Sutton might have been at the apperol when he tipped the mackems for the title. Early days I know but they're flying out of the blocks. Hats off, suspect he made a good call based on a lot of hard work and research. Or he's from the future.

Chair - what's the story?

Looks like it's just as the club said - he has an injured back. Fingers crossed it's not too serious

Transfer rumours 2024
at 12:49 11 Jul 2024

Agreed
Not sure if someone has posted this already, but newsnow.co.uk picks up daily posts from 3 sites in the main that are utter sh1te

Football league wolrd
London World
The 72

Have been stupid enough to click on 100s of 'articles' from these 3 sites over the summer. All of them have zero journalism and employ people to just make stuff up out of thin air. We should all boycott them and call them out.

End of Season Review - Live Now On The Patreon

A great listen, thanks Clive. Perfect summary of season, amazing turnaround being reminded of how bad we were under GA

Having reflected on how important Clive's writing and this website has been for getting me through the last 2 yrs of QPR, I've upgraded my patron sub to the max. Keep up the brilliant work.

Colback superb today, but anyone else also noticed a real return to form for Field the Shield. The Haunting of Andre the Friendly Ghost has been exorcised.

Was about to post the same thing. This is our best XI. I'm generally an optimist but the club is in freefall and probably already down. Only hope is this XI not getting injured or sent off, playing to its best, and beating wall and Huddersfield. Slim hopes.

Dozzell

Good riddance. No one infuriates me more than Dozzell: gutless, hides from matches, too scared to impose himself on a game, and quiet on the field... the kind of character I wouldn't have in my kids team let alone in a pro team. I think we played better without him Sat, on reflection wonder if they didn't play as this move was being lined up

Long time lurkers....dont be shy.
at 06:13 9 Jan 2024

My name is Paddy and I'm a lurker. I've been lurking for 12 years or so.

I'm from an Irish family who followed the Rs during their rise in the 60s & 70s, when they lived in Kilburn area. They all moved to Kent and took me to my first QPR game early 90s...i was a 13-year old Liverpool fan, and fell in love and converted on the spot.

I only get to a handful of games per season now, as I run community football for kids at weekends. Guess I don't engage on the forums as I feel like a two-bit fan compared to those who turn up each week, and esp those of you that suffer the torture of following this sh1tshow around the country.

It's a great forum with some folks whose opinions I value a lot, and now the only way to get real news & insights on QPR. The offish site, and all of the dogsh1t clickbait sites, mean that LFW is a refuge for fans like me. But mainly, like others have said, it's Clive's writing which is why I subscribe to patreon. I can't wait for every article, along with some great informed guests (those who write about tactics and club finances). I must confess to some full on man love for Clive...his writing is not just exceptional from a football perspective, but also as a social commentary. I work in charity / NHS space, and see daily how broken our public services and communities are (UK has 10 times more foodbanks in 15 years), and Clive's travel blog around England is a brilliant, funny, and poignant diary of the dire times we live in. Clive - I live in SE London too (Tulse Hill) - would love to buy you a beer some day.

The state of modern football, but in particular QPR is so utterly depressing. But like most of you I can't give it up. I guess I just hope we can turn it around given our history, our location, and in the main our brilliant fan base. I try to get my 10-year old son to follow too (taken him to 5 games - zero wins!)...but as he said to me last week "dad look how miserable it makes you...it's like a family curse".

Thanks to OP - a great idea to encourage some of us lurkers to step out of the shadows.
