For those heading back by train later today, check your trains early because it seems several GWR services to Paddington have been cancelled, including mine the 10.41 out of Cardiff Central.

On the way there now.

Anybody getting there by train tomorrow don’t cut it fine. GWR services are f*cked. You may have to swim from Newport.

I used to think that Brentford played in Middlesex but I now know that they are definitely from the London Borough of Hounslow.

A county is a geographic and administrative area, therefore Middlesex has not existed since 1965.

Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station
at 17:15 7 Nov 2024

Thanks All.

I considered cab there and walk back but I am going to walk both ways so I can reccy the route in the light and then re-trace my steps.

I think it’ll be similar to Clive’s route which is nothing like the Map Apps’ suggestions, which as posters have commented involve dual carriageways with no pavements.

Getting to Elland Road from Leeds Station
at 13:28 7 Nov 2024

And back again afterwards!

Looking for some advice here. In my almost 40 years of going to away games, I have somehow managed to resist the charms of Elland Road - until now.

I was going to walk it, seems about 2 miles which is fine for me, but looking at the potential routes none seem that great.

There seems to be some mention of a Shuttle Bus, anyone ever used it?

Presumably it will full of insufferable Leeds fans, especially on the way back.

(Seeing how rubbish the trains are / have been, I have given myself ample leeway i.e. time should not be an issue.)

Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Celar - Nothing Again
at 20:29 29 Oct 2024

I've still got him filed in the box labelled 'struggling to adapt to English football'.

However, his effort levels on Saturday, especially going up for headers was shocking.

I get that they play more on the floor in the Balkans but he was shown up by the brief cameos of Bennie and Lloyd. 5 foot nothing Saito puts him to shame.

I guess that this is in large part a confidence issue, but how long should we indulge him?

Desperately needs a goal.

Did 6 days in Sliema in the last international break.

Malta, fantastic place.

Sorry can’t help with the specific query.

Fundamentals
at 14:16 20 Oct 2024

We are doing the simple things, the fundamentals, badly.

We are unlikely to come up against two such limited teams as Pompey and Derby many times this season. And we were were well beaten by both of them.

Neither of them needed to be much good (and they weren't) to beat us.

He was absolutely f*cking useless. Astonished that he was picked after Derby let alone ‘lasting’ 90 minutes.

He did at least have the grace to look utterly crestfallen as he left the pitch. I almost felt sorry for him.

Did he really get 3 games for that. I thought it was 2 for Serious Foul Play (straight red) and 3 for Violent Conduct I.e. chinning someone.

Of course they change things all the time and I am probably hopelessly out of date.

Iniesta Retires
at 15:46 9 Oct 2024

I too had the pleasure of seeing him live. A truly magnificent player.

This was February 2012, peak-Pep Barcelona at home to Valencia in La Liga.

He seemed to have a force field around him that meant whenever and wherever he moved to he was always in space. But once the ball was lost the force would be turned off and he was up and at the opposition.

After the game in an Irish bar just of Placa Catalunya, I was discussing Iniesta with a Barnsley fan who had also been at the game and unsolicited pretty much said the same as me.

He was mesmeric but oddly, he was not the best player on the field that night; a certain L Messi scored 4 in a 5-1 victory.

That sinking feeling again – Report
at 15:50 7 Oct 2024

As ever Clive is spot on with this.

One thing that grabs me is - was the routine for the first goal a new one for Derby? I hope so but suspect it wasn't.

Did we not have them watched beforehand? No-one in our defence seemed to be expecting that. (It was oddly reminiscent of the thing Venables did with us circa 1982!)

Is it Xavi Calm who oversees the defensive stuff? If so he remains Mr. Calm but I am Mr. Bloody Furious.
