Well, arguably it is more difficult to attract good managers and players if you play in a tiny stadium.

I don't think they pay particularly excessive wages either TBF.

Aye.

I watched most of their game tonight.

They really should have won.

And yet Chelsea were so good in the first-half. Palmer scored a majestic goal.

But Boscombe have pace all over the pitch. And excellent defenders.

Pains me to watch them.

I will sing anything that isn’t a Scousers song.

Hence no chapel in 1885 nonsense will ever be muttered by me.

So Sport Republic could set up a separate subsidiary company, and get Saints to sell say the Staplewood training ground to them???

Wrexham are also potentially minted, depending on how much money Ryan Reynolds decides to throw at them.

If Wrexham are in the Championship, there will be a frenzied mania about them.

Disney Plus will be wanting to show all their games.

There would in all seriousness be a proper buzz about their games; I would imagine half of the north of Wales would be clamouring for tickets.

Whereas we would not have the excitement of last season, as most of our fans would probably not want us to be promoted again.

There is a lot to be said for momentum.

offside but played onside

The main rule here is that if Southampton are attacking, then it will be given offside.

Shareholders in Sport Republic

JOKE DU JOUR there, Nick.

We could just appoint a non-shareholding Director of Football with football nous.

What's Roy Hodgson up to?

Semi-serious suggestion.

Shareholders in Sport Republic
at 13:37 14 Jan 2025

As I'm a bore, just been looking at the shareholdings in Sport Republic Holding Limited, the parent company of Saints.

In terms of the shares which carry both voting rights and entitlement to receive dividends and distributions, the proportions held are as below:-

Dragan Solak - 74.93%
Henrik Kraft - 10.12%
Dirk Gerkens (no idea who he is) - 5.57%
Ankersen - 5.42%
Others - 3.95%

Kraft will still be having an involvement in decision-making.

Dragan might as well buy all these idiots out. Particularly Ankersen.

Brereton Diaz will probably stay.

Taylor is a left-back.

Lallana will surely retire at the end of the season.

Larios may as well retire.

Stewart ditto.

Stephens will only go anywhere if David Brent gets another job and he takes him.

There was that Japanese lad.

And the Brazilian guy Juan.

And I dare say 2 or 3 others....

Until Solak buys out Ankersen and removes him from any involvement in the running of the Club, we are not going to get out of the mire.

All roads lead to Ankersen unfortunately.

The man is an absolute failure in everything he touches.

The ultimate humiliation will be lots of Boscombe fans in the home end.

Which could quite easily happen.

I would imagine they will have already snapped up a lot of the corporate boxes.

Ankersen has positioned himself as Goztepe's hero.

You can just imagine all the end of season blurb from Sports Republic, talking almost wholly about Goztepe, with Southampton being reduced to an asterisk.

People can tell me that multi-club ownership is the norm until the cows come home.

Southampton Football Club are yet to benefit from an investment in one single player by having loaned them out to Goztepe.

Fun and games ahead for the many of us who travel from that way.

The train line is closed on that day between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst, which means rail replacement buses.

It's not looking like being a particularly enjoyable day.

I was mocked by some on here before we played at their place as I feared a battering as I said they were a very good side.

It seems that quite a few now realise this.....
