I’ll be amazed if we get more than 7 million for him. Firstly there was no queue of clubs in the summer coming in for him, which is why he ended up staying. Secondly any club will know he is out of contract in 5 months and haggle accordingly if not wait until summer. This leaves the teams who are desperate and prepared to jump in before summer. These are not the moves that KWP wants unless one of those clubs are big and there aren’t many big desperate teams out there. As such I expect him to stay. I agree with Nick though that we should cash in as much as possible if we can next month, 5 million would be useful. After picking up zero points from the last must win two games, it’s hard to see us overhauling 3 teams. Still, I hope we bring in a couple of good loan signings like Ferguson at Brighton if available and have a go at getting as many points as possible. |

Lansdown Saint took my line.. Can’t believe Juric is already making the same mistakes with personnel. Armstrong and Aribo are top quality Championship players but lack the tools to play in a Premier League season. Armstrong just doesn’t have an end product at this level and Aribo needs to be at his angriest and hungriest to be at the required level but most games looks like he’s been on McCarthy’s herb pipe before the game.. This is why I like Fernandes, he hasn’t been doing it the last few games as well as earlier in the season but he gives absolutely everything every minute.
Let’s face it, the Premier League is becoming a comedy show where referees are concerned. They are either completely corrupt without trying to hide it or they are the most incompetent bunch of clones out of the packet. It’s a total disgrace what’s happened this season with the amount of games we’ve been robbed in. It’s quicker to count the ones we weren’t. I don’t see us getting much more than 5 million for KWP if he goes in Jan. With him, Suga and Bree along with Manning, Taylor and Welington we have too many full backs particularly if we’re going to play wingbacks. Fraser should go out on loan to a Championship team and rumours suggest Diaz to Sheffield United looks possible so we do need more attackers if tall Paul is off too. Our attacking recruitment has been poor since SR took over, Archer aside. |

Who scored our last goal? Archer, a superb strike against Liverpool. He’s our best finisher and a grade above Armstrong who just has no end product and his movement is second to Archer as well. So another manager who doesn’t seem to know that in order to win, you need your most potent threats on the pitch. We still had all 3 centre backs on when we’re losing at home in a must not lose game.. Absolutely staggering. I thought Juric had been watching us and knew the players? Yes we were a lot better defensively but we can’t afford to carry passengers like Armstrong and Aribo, and I know the fans love him cos we have a couple of songs for him but he’s way off the pace and lacks aggression when he starts games. Another who fights for 10 minutes when he’s a sub coming on. We need to bring Shea Charles back, he’s a class above some of the others.. The reason his heart wasn’t mentioned is because it’s irrelevant. For example Eriksen collapsed on a pitch and had to be revived yet the bionic man plays for Man Utd, albeit not so well due to his age.
I don’t think many players who have broken into the German national team would want to play in the Championship if they could go elsewhere, still in a top league. As for not playing in u21’s, maybe not the wisest decision if getting fitter would help but if the manager has made it clear you’re not in contention for the first team then I don’t blame him for that. He deserves another chance after playing so well when he first arrived and every player should have an equal opportunity with a new set up. I agree with Nick.

St Michael, it’s not what most fans wanted but it was what needed to happen. I don’t quite understand how you can defend the last 16 league games under Martin. 5 points and 13 losses. Players asked to do things they can’t do leading to errors and goals conceded without any sign of a change in that pattern, heading for a 15 point season. Had he tried to adapt things may have improved but he refused to. Crazy stuff and we have become a laughing stock again.
The other issue is that those above him lack nous as proved by a catalogue of poor decision making and no true footballing expertise looking to arrive anytime soon. They could see the obvious weeks ago, exactly what football experts predicted, that our game plan was madness and we’d get even more punished for it in a league higher. They just kicked the can down the road.
Unlike the rest of you, I don’t think we’re down yet because there’s 3 or 4 other teams who are no better than our squad. |

Last night was really poor first half with some fighting spirit in the second. Stitched again by a chest called Hooper, as I predicted to my mate at the start of the game. There was no way he would have sent off Quansah, if it was at the other end, he wouldn’t have hesitated in giving a red to us. Total and complete cheat. But that sums up English referees, they are biased and don’t want to upset the big clubs.

I can’t believe we are looking at next season! 22 games left, 9 points from safety, history means absolutely nothing.. Rohl is not the worst idea, he at least has shown he has some qualities with how he has turned Wednesday around. If Potter isn’t interested, I’d go for Rohl. I like how he comes across and that is actually a good indicator for success.

Look at Leicester years ago under Pearson, went from the worst team in the league to second or third best and avoided relegation. They won the league the following year.. I have often disagreed about the club and manager with you Nick but I think your assessment of Martin’s style, his attitude and how it will impact us as a club is spot on. We all have him time after these mistakes cost us automatic promotion last year but to carry on regardless against more punishing opponents has reaped the rewards predicted by you, all the ex player pundits and many more. If he wants to play tippy tappy on the edge of the box then we shouldn’t have any tall clumsy centre backs on the pitch but a load of nimble midfielders, then we won’t be able to defend set pieces.. The problem isn’t having a ball retention style it’s how it’s implemented. At the moment watching us pass from the back is like watching a load of kittens running across a dual carriageway. |

Where is the benefit to his style? Lowest scorers in the league, most goals from mistakes ever and lowest points ever after 15 games. The players looked lost, confused and devoid of confidence. We have no idea of how to attack the oppo’s box unless our two creative players break their lines and that rarely happened yesterday. I didn’t see the point in giving Sulemana 3 mins of added time to do something, utterly pointless. The one throw in we had in the second half right by their corner flag ended up with our goalie when we were a goal down with 10 mins left just about summed up our boring unimaginative tactics and Martin wonders why we had no shots on target. Another game and loss starting with 5 at the back which we know hasn’t worked. What is KWP doing playing left side of centre back with Manning to his left at wing back? This is beginning to turn in to another laughing stock moment in the clubs history with the chiefs stood around watching doing nothing to stop the madness.
I would rather go down with another manager than Martin as I don’t think he realises the flaws in his ideology which will cause problems irrespective of the league he’s in unless he is managing Barcelona or Man Cheaty. |

Braved the road trip, trudged around in a gale, got soaked after being turned away at the Wilton and Yew Tree as we were foreigners and then kept outside in an icy wind as the woefully inadequate Villa Park continued our miserable experience. What then followed was as painful to watch as the headache I’ve had all morning so to read Martin’s post match comments today has done for me completely with him. If SR don’t get rid of him tomorrow then it will just confirm that they haven’t got a clue what they’re doing. Ankersen has to go too for allowing this failed tactic to continue |

This is a tough one to call now.. After the Leicester game I was done with Martin because of the naivety and stupidity of our game management which cost us so many points. Although I’d still be happy if we brought in someone more experienced like Potter or Moyes, I have to say we show signs of mixing it with the best. At City I thought we were magnificent at times and yesterday again, made a title challenger look very ordinary. Sadly we gifted them 3 goals and again with the help of a crap VAR cheat, lost the points.
I don’t understand Fraser at left wingback and our best midfielder Downes playing sweeper. McCarthy was like a PlayStation goalie for their second, randomly running out of his box not even in line with the goal. He also should have seen that Fernandes had 2 men up his backside for the first and should have kept the ball for longer. The team are disjointed when the keeper gets the ball, some look to receive the ball quickly but half of them aren’t even looking at what’s going on, which is why we get caught out. Either we all shape up and break out immediately or we tell the keeper to hold. Half the team do one thing and half the other, this is crazy.
Only 1 new starter from last year, Fernandes, all the other new summer signings either benched or not in the squad which suggests our recruitment is farcical with a touch of genius!
I just don’t know if it’s better to rid now or keep Martin, there is much which impresses and entertains but we only have 4 points from 12 games and it’s about results.
Please can we have a ref and VAR who don’t stitch us up Friday please? |

Judging by how pathetic SR have been to date, this probably is true. RM is now deluded, he watched is different game to me on Saturday. I’ve said before, I don’t believe SR care about what division we are in, it’s a business and the moneyball tactics show that this is more important than success on the pitch. Hence we are stuck with this ideologue who won’t adjust to situations and takes a negative approach to playing the bottom of the league. 5 defenders on pitch every game doesn’t suit us and the wrong personnel are selected. Why did we bring in Charlie Taylor and Sugawara and not play them. Why did we bring in Cornet? What has Diaz done? Why bring in big Les? We had NO holding midfielder on Saturday because Charles is on loan at SWed. Sorry for Aribo, he’s just not good enough or doesn’t play at full tilt for the whole game, goes to sleep. Where is Sulemana when defenders are terrified of pace? Why does RM think Fraser is the answer? He’s just an impact sun, why did we loan out Edozie? At least we had some attacking down the left when he played and he scored a few last year before injury. Another victim of our get the ball to their box and pass it back again tactic. Why did we buy Wood and Edwards? All these signings made to make us stronger and RM plays the same players who failed to finish above 4th last year. The recruitment as usual hasn’t fit with the manager.
SR are pathetic, after all who buys a crocked striker for 10 million or whatever and he never gets to fitness. Utterly and completely stupid, naive beyond explanation.. this is what we have to put up with until they sell us in league 1 having made their profits from parachutes and selling our best players for a profit. Ankersen and his ways are outdated and Solak is clueless about football it seems. |

This was actually one of Stephens better games, so poor timing from the captain haters. There shouldn’t be too much to moan about, this looked like and played out like a team desperate for their first win and playing a scrappy physical team would be delighted with a scrappy one nil win. First win and a clean sheet. We’ve had plenty of bad luck this season so were due the rub of the green yesterday. Lovely goal and we looked more of a threat when Dibling came on. People can be negative about Everton and their chances but forget that we hit the woodwork twice at the Emirates and were stitched in that game with an offside goal and against Leicester when Onuachu had his shirt stolen.. We played well at City and deserved the points yesterday, on to Wolves next week. Martin has a stay of execution. |
