This is so naive. Forget the Corporates and big business and think about the millions of people employed by small businesses. In 2019 the minimum wage was £7.83....in 2025 it will be £12.21, so about a 35% increase. How do you think a small business affords this when it's getting battered by all the other inflationary cost increases? Businesses don't suddenly become more profitable to be able to absorb these pressures, they have to make cut backs....and more often than not that comes in the form of redundancies. 6 years ago I employed 5 people...3 permanent and 2 part time, now I only employ 2 part time. The business in the unit next to me closed down altogether 4 years ago and the garage next to them went 2 years ago. The engineering firm opposite laid off 6 blokes just before Christmas. This is the reality of what small businesses have to deal with, not your utopia of paying everyone £20+ per hour and all living happily ever after. |

We recalled him so we could get an improved loan fee when sending him back for the second half of the season. |

I listed our prime location red wall tickets on the exchange a couple of weeks ago and they sold immediately |

It's a great ground and imo their home support is definitely up there with the best, however like all midlands clubs, they seem to revel in taunting the opposing fans. Having said that, I don't mind them to be honest and they're nowhere near as vile as Wolves, Leicester, Stoke etc. [Post edited 21 Jan 13:02]

I got on at 9.15am and the entire middle section of the upper tier was greyed out...must of been 400-500 seats. I decided against buying as 2-3 blocks of the the upper tier have been held back, so I'll try hanging on until they're released. It's one of those things that really hacks me off that those with the best priority end up with limited choice as so many are given to corporate/family and typically the more central blocks get held back until the shitty ones in the corners and at the front have been sold. |

Last season we came from behind and scored late winners multiple times...it was so refreshing. Also, despite not playing well on several occasions, we were able to grind out results. That's of course against inferior/equal opposition though, which tells you all you need to know. |

You only have to look to how many points we've lost from winning positions over the last few seasons to determine how negative an impact our subs make. |

My reply had no mention of Sulemana and was to you calling people out for being negative and moaning about everything. I was curious to hear your views of the season as I struggle to see how anyone who supports us can be positive and happy with how things are. What part of that did you not understand? |

Ok Mr Positive; let's hear your summary of this season... |

Yep, next season will be much worse for fixture changes for us with multiple Friday night and Saturday 12.30 games. Added to the fact there's so many northern clubs in the Championship, it's going to be pretty frustrating getting to games. [Post edited 13 Jan 14:46]

The FA are a disgrace of an organisation and only have themselves to blame for devaluing their flagship competition. Completely sold out to maximise their slice of pie without a thought for the long term consequences. There’s the ridiculous ko times to satisfy foreign tv deals, semi’s at Wembley, pandering to the Premier league by scrapping replays, playing the 5th round midweek….so many shockingly poor anti-football decisions. All fans, bar none, used to love the cup. You only have to look at the attendances nowadays to see that most couldn't care less anymore. It’s a real shame and another reason to hate modern football for me. |

I've missed 2 home league games already this season and 1 away, plus I'm not going to Man U or doing Newcastle later this month either. I also haven't been to any of the cup games home or away and aren't doing Swansea. As other regulars have said, I just can't be arsed with it anymore. It's a chore to go, which defeats the whole point and has resulted in me prioritising other things instead, which I haven't done for years. Going to Saints games has always come first. What is interesting though is that we've taken and sold out the max allocation to every away game this season and pretty much every home game has seen a full house too. I never remember there being a season where we've done anything close to that before. Whilst us older and more battle scarred fans are starting to turn our backs on it, there's clearly a newer bread coming through that are keeping the numbers healthy and SR happy. |
| Forum Reply | Is fan sentiment changing? at 16:01 9 Dec 2024
Fans have cut him a lot of slack because of last season and social media will tell you that RM still has quite a few people backing him. Twitter is full of gimps fawning over him like he's some sort of hero, saying how much they love the bloke and what a great guy he is. It's very odd. I also think there's a sizable proportion of our fan base who just don't give enough of a shit to do anything about it. This season is so depressing, everyone's resigned to the fact we're doomed and nothing's going to change that. Even another dire performance at Villa on Saturday, with the customary defensive howler and 0 shots on target wasn't enough to get the fans there to chant negatively about him. Everyone took their medicine and fvcked off with barely a whimper. Nathan Jones was instantly dislikeable, so it was pretty easy for the fan base to come together as one against him, which forced SR to act pretty quickly and get rid. Until enough people wake up to the complete arrogance of this narcissistic tit and start making their feelings known, nothing will change. |
