Surely the club has ground to sack the guy rather than pay him a heap of money to leave?

Never knowingly right.

Spot on

I'd name him as a sub for a home game. Then in the 89th minute when we're winning, have him 'warm up' and jog down the paddock towards the loft. He'll learn a fkcing thing or two then.

Better than that, I'd make him sit on the sub bench every game and whenever it's cold and/or raining I'd make him be that 89th minute sub so that he has to go on the pitch and freeze his bollox off for a few minutes, usually without even touching the ball.

Whatever the truth or otherwise in the Mirror story - he will, IMO, go down as pound for pound the worst ever signing by QPR...

Is the following statement true?
Does anyone actually know?

That the defender is apparently refusing to leave for less than the £8 million outstanding on his deal.

I'll say that again: £8 million.

Surely, surely, just as Jean-Marc Bosman challenged the rule way back in 1995, someone has to either grow some or just get them out and challenge this ridicoulas rule that if a player is in breach of his contract, he can be sacked.
If they become a disruptive influence within the team and the club has sufficient grounds to sack him, then they can without all the legal implications.
It is true that if a player is performing and has a contract to protect him, then he is safe & secure, but if he fails to perform or needs to be moved on, then it can be done. The whole issue surrounding him is just ridicoulas. He knows he will never play for the club again, and will probably have to continue his professional career overseas, but to hold the club to ransom just shows the type of contemptible person he & his advisers is.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

They need to issue warning letters and hold disciplinaries first, so they establish a record that will stand up in court.

Then kick him out.

That Harris Jason Roberts was on 606 last week defending the deals that footballers get saying its their right to ask for what they can get. What about the other side of club getting what they pay for?

Roberts and others need a reality check and fast.

If he wants to be sold for £8m they should sit him down with a couple of heavies and suggest they sell him in £2m pieces.

He doesn't want to be sold for £8m, he wants £8m to be paid to him to go.

I know I've been critical of players salaries but I agree that it swings both ways. Any employee wants to feel protected but then so should the employer.

I'm sure Gordon Taylor and Marc Bosman are best buddies.

Isn't it true that Chelsea have a similar situation with Florent Malouda?
He is another player on (supposedly) £80k a week who is not wanted by the club, but it appears nobody else wants him either.
He was training with the first team, then moved to train away from them with the reserves. Then again he was moved and now trains with the youth team at different times to the professionals. He still has some time to go on his contract, and likewise will not leave Chelsea till either a new club comes in for him or he gets paid off the whole amount left on his contract.
I reckon every club has a Bosingwa where a player is no longer wanted in the club, but nobody will buy them and they have a long contract earning big money.

My post on an entirely different thread "SWP £62,000 a week on 09:09 - Jan 18 by jonno" details what I'd like to see happen to that bar steward.

Newts are actually quite fascinating creatures. Did you know they are the only animal with the ability to regrow a limb if it is amputated?

Stone crabs do the same thing, I''ve seen fishermen in Florida catch them, rip of one claw and chuck the crab back into the sea to catch it again in a year's time.

Maybe some one should rip the arms and legs off Bosingwa, chuck him in the Grand Union and see if he can do it as well.

Yes, these situations seem quite common at the larger clubs, which have ended up with some highly-paid players that nobody else wants. It would be good if there were a proper mechanism for handling these situations rather than trying to humiliate them out of the club. The players' strike in Italy in 2011 was over exactly this issue.

Unfortunately, because of some of our recent purchases, we have 'big club' problems without 'big club' resources.

Too right. We all know football isn't like any normal business at all and player power has gotten ridiculous, but fúck me don't clubs have any powers any more??

What's FIFA's problem with imposing a worldwide salary cap? Yes I know there's ways round it (bonuses etc) but they do the same in other sports, so it's definitely legal.
At least if most of the greedy cúnts' salaries were performance- or bonus-related then they'd have to do *something* for their grubby money??!?!

Shit but local

Some club one day has to take the bull by the horns and go the legal route.

Wouldnt it be in all prem clubs interest to agree to split the costs of any case if it went the wrong way.

If that is the case, I would argue that Malouda and Boswinga are two completely different scenarios

One doesn't want to play and doesnt deserve a penny but, the other wants to play but isn't wanted anymore - he deserves every penny until his contract is up

I've found a team sheet for the weekend - anyone interested ?
