i know he caused us untold stress but wouldn't he be just the player to put the fight back into our team,it seems strange how we may have all the craft but none of the nastiness you need to win games. maybe we do miss him, its just a thought .

Sad to admit but yes, I agree

I thought we were crying out for a player of his ilk against Reading.

The issue is whether we can risk someone else loosing their heads

He certainly inspired us to a memorable season of success last time, with performances so consistently good he was subbed early against Liverpool to allow the crowd to acclaim his excellence.

Perhaps we have short memories, we survived last season inspite of Barton not because of him. If nothing else, his lack of maturity in a crucial game against Man C away really could have cost us our Premier League status. We should have won that game or at the very least got a point. Barton has brought nothing to the club except publicity of the type we don't need. Hope he never ever gets anywhere near out club again. And, as an aside, hope our chairman has learned his lesson and leaves player selection to the manager and his scouts.

The problem with Barton was that his 'nastiness' was as likely to be aimed at his team-mates as at the opposition.

I can name 3 games last season where Joey barton performed above a 5/10 level. Spurs h, Arsenal h and Wolves away. At a push maybe Swansea h.

He is not a good player. Regardless of his hot headedness etc etc he wasn't a very good central midfielder.

So in a word. No. No I wouldn't want Joey Barton near the team

When everyone fit and available, probably wouldn't be able to get in team anyway !!

Well we've moved on, where we've moved onto it a matter we can debate.
